Have heard some interesting information on the Fruit market for their potential new home.
They put in an offer upwards of £20 mil for the land, however it was tied up in all sorts of clauses about them selling the Mem and projected profits and such which meant the current owners wouldn't have seen the full amount till around 2028/2030. (Actually Wise on rovers part given their current financial situation, but not what the fruit market owners want)
There are several parties which own the fruit market and they are looking for money up front. They are mostly of an older generation probably looking towards retirement and are keen for the market be kept running by the new owners in some shape or form.
These parties are not currently represented by someone which is difficult as it means that anyone looking to buy the site are having to negotiate with each of the parties rather than 1 pwhich organises their collective interests and demands. All of this will make it difficult for them or anyone else to secure a deal in the current state of affairs.
There are other interested parties in purchasing the site or wider parts of st Phillip's marsh for other major developments which could may or may not benefit any stadium proposals.
Should the current owners get serious about cashing out and employing an agent it could cost rovers a bit more than they are willing to pay as well as additional demands to cater to. Particularly if they cant pay most of it up front.
Maybe they will join up with a property developer to provide something similar to the future ashton gate wider development ? ( flats hotels and offices as well as the main stadium) but theres lots of questions about rovers current financial situation, and how they could convince someone to get into bed with them.
My view, it could very well happen but probably not before 2025. If the council are supportive of a stadium in that location it would make sense as both grounds would be close to any future transport or infrastructure investments which are planned for the area. Any money spent on amenities like bars and cafes run by the club or local businesses would see increased returns if the site is shared by a stadium and flats and offices.
Anyway. Back to taking the P*ss out of them.
And apologies for any formatting and spelling, I'm on a train on my mobile.
