  1. Quote from their chairman during the recent presser.  And some of our fans are calling for new ownership !

"Paul will be the club's football manager

I am told that is not a title that will go down well here. I don't care, I am not from Sheffield and I am not a football man I am the chairman.

We are not going to discuss the plan here, the focus is on football.

Prince Abdullah has been the face of the club and will no longer be the case. You won't see much of me either."

  2. Assuming we are still in the championship then I would say zero.

The youth breaking into the first squad dont stand out enough for me. ( I Don't know about the next crop of players)

We have a few sick notes that will end up being released.

Few older players that will be off the pace by that time if not arguably already so won't be around in 3 years time.

A few players that have been bench warmers under 3 managers now will be eventually released or mutually terminated wanting to be a starter somewhere else.

That leaves Bentley, Atkinson and Massengo whom eventually will be sold as we will need to try and balance the books somehow.

Remind me in 3 years! Maybe we will have won at home by then.

  3. You know how when teams get beat massively on an away games and they offer refunds for fans that went. Can we start doing that for our home games ? Cause I don't feel like I have had any value out of my season ticket.

    • Haha 3
  4. Agree that the government should not bail out any clubs. And I think there is a zero percent chance they will. Some clubs are starting to get desperate and I think that this is the beginning of the end for many which is sad. But life goes on, its only football.

I also disagree that players should have to foot the bill. Regardless of the amount they earn. Its up to the leagues to support the clubs.

There is a 200m fund from the PL available providing the championship has a wage cap. Problem solved. I dont care if it widens the gap between the championship and the PL.

I had a look on the blue side and so far no one has gone that route (so far). Someone has questioned whether they have planning permission in place though, presumably they have an application in that they have been told will be green lit?

I'm semi involved in the planning industry. Anyone can search the local registers for planning applications that have been made.

I cannot find anything relating to a training pitch at this site. So no planning yet. I imagine the image is from an architect bidding for the the job or for a pre planning application.

The crest on the side of the building looks interesting???

  6. Have heard some interesting information on the Fruit market for their potential new home.

They put in an offer upwards of £20 mil for the land, however it was tied up in all sorts of clauses about them selling the Mem and projected profits and such which meant the current owners wouldn't have seen the full amount till around 2028/2030. (Actually Wise on rovers part given their current financial situation, but not what the fruit market owners want)

There are several parties which own the fruit market and they are looking for money up front. They are mostly of an older generation probably looking towards retirement and are keen for the market be kept running by the new owners in some shape or form.

These  parties are not currently represented by someone which is difficult as it means that anyone looking to buy the site are having to negotiate with each of the parties rather than 1 pwhich organises their collective interests and demands. All of this will make it difficult for them or anyone else to secure a deal in the current state of affairs.

There are other interested parties in purchasing the site or wider parts of st Phillip's marsh for other major developments which could may or may not benefit any stadium proposals.

Should the current owners get serious about cashing out and employing an agent it could cost rovers a bit more than they are willing to pay as well as additional demands to cater to. Particularly if they cant pay most of it up front.

Maybe they will join up with a property developer to provide something similar to the future ashton gate wider development ? ( flats hotels and offices as well as the main stadium)  but theres lots of questions about rovers current financial situation, and how they could convince someone to get into bed with them.

My view, it could very well happen but probably not before 2025. If the council are supportive of a stadium in that location it would make sense as both grounds would be close to any future transport or infrastructure investments which are planned for the area.  Any money spent on amenities like bars and cafes run by the club or local businesses would see increased returns if the site is shared by a stadium and flats and offices.

Anyway. Back to taking the P*ss out of them.

And apologies for any formatting and spelling, I'm on a train on my mobile.

Aiming for a new stadium within 2 years. They are looking for planning on the Fruit Market and expect the council to be helpful according to that very nice man.

You would think that area might be a little congested traffic wise. He can’t talk about funding at this stage, not before they havee asked the council to fund it presumably.

Could be some truth in this, There are a lot of interested developers for this site, have heard talk of more private rented flats, or student residential. Would expect a lot of resistance from residents to move the market for anything. A football stadium could perhaps accommodate them still ?  .
