Might as well copy and paste my comment in the Derby thread for this lot;

Derby County Stoke City play in a soulless ground. They have done nothing for decades apart from get the record low Premier League points total sign a bloke who would chuck some balls really far from a throw in. The city/town is a hellscape. They won a league  major title before Thatcher was PM. Its over half a century ago. They are pretty much as irrelevant as us these days.

Now someone who lived in Derby said it wasn't a hellscape (I visited Derby twice was thought it was grim but maybe ended up in the wrong spots) and I am happy to be corrected on Stoke as well. However, i think Stoke is universally regarded as a total dump.

I remember starting to watch city after moving to Bristol in 2006. The ground was outdated. The fans seemed to be mostly 40+. It was quite stale. Fast forward to now and we seem to be in a much healthier position. The only big miss is that apparently the corporate facilities at the ground aren't enough, and we are missing out on revenue because of it. I know otib won't like it but to bring in the cash we need more of the prawn sandwich brigade in the Lansdown.

If Coppell’s first picks were Nicky Hunt & Damion Stewart then perhaps it’s a very good thing that he left so quickly.

Kalifa Cissé and Albert Adomah were pretty good though. A big miss was not resigning Paul Hartley but he wanted to go back to Scotland iirc.  

I was about 14 and convinced my dad (a Man Utd fan who idolised Coppell as a kid, proceeded to nearly get in a fight in the  Eastend about 5 games in for the fact he was screaming so much abuse at David James, so he settled in well..) to get a season ticket for the first time that year.

While there are some good memories, John Stead scoring a banger versus QPR on a Friday night, Adomah being Adomah and David Clarkson lobbing the Leicester keeper from about 40 yards at an extreme angle. I'll never forget the lowlight of seeing David James and Nicky Hunt deliver some of the most inept and unprofessional displays you will have the misfortune of watching. Maynard was injured for most of the season which didn't help.

They had no right to get 3 in normal time but yes, it's now end to end.

it was nearly 2 hours from Liverpool Street, so massive respect to all those that travelled from Bristol. Can't be much worse apart from Sunderland?

Have a big soft spot for Wednesday. Such a iconic old school club. Hope they stay up.

What annoyed me the most about this wasn't the potential offside. It was that Sykes should've done the same in the first half. The only footballer I've seen constantly have the awareness to do this constantly was Carlos Tevez

Was at the game. Only seen a few this season (Milwall and QPR away and a chaotic match versus Boro at home). Final third was a problem, very static. If we get that right though it's in the mix for playoffs on the basis of the performance. Solid. Parted like the red sea for their goal (was it offside?). Max's distribution is not good enough. But enjoyable game. Norwich were made to look ordinary and we will be seeing them next season. Very good day out! Will be trying to get back into following city next season.

Not been to the Mem for many years. Last time i went it was in the away end because my mate was a Bolton fan. Now the Mem is obviously quite horrific and very embarrassing for Rovers as a home ground. BUT (and its a big but) I still prefer it to a soulless modern bowl. Sure some of the stands are tents, but at least its memorable! 

For everyone slating pre season friendlies i suggest they cast their mind back to the summer of 2017.

Bobby Reid had one of the best seasons I've seen of anyone in a Bristol City shirt, he was magic as a false 9/No.10 and the only reason he ended there was on the back of his form in pre season! 

Glad to see he has excelled his season at Fulham despite his decision making in the final third holding him back a little. 

Someone has mentioned Stamford Bridge. I think this is an underrated ground for a number of reasons;

- Its right in the heart of the city, surrounded by houses and shops, it feels like its part of the fabric of the local area.

- The stadium is compact, you are right on the pitch, which also means that it can generate a surprisingly good atmosphere. 

- Its distinctive, its not a new build, its been redeveloped over the years, its slightly haphazard. 

I good mate is a Chelsea fan and I live in London so i've been to a couple of games there. I've got friends/family who are Fulham (nice but no atmosphere apart from the away end), Arsenal (spacious but dead), West Ham (awful) and Spurs (the best example of a modern stadium but still feels like a Middle Eastern Airport Terminal) fans but for me Stamford Bridge is the pick of the bunch. the Olympic Stadium is by far the worst, probably my least favourite ground in the country. 

Edit: As for Ashton Gate? I think the biggest issue is you do feel a far from the pitch in the Lansdown Stand. The lack of full enclosure wrapping around the Atyeo Stand means the atmosphere suffers as a result.  The South Stand is a bit of a halfway house. But the redevelopment has been done to quite a high quality and they've clearly made the effort. Plus, its not an identical new build to half the other grounds in the country (basically the Reebok Stadium template) and that is a big plus. Could be better but could be much much worse. 

Does anyone know if the tickets have been sent yet? ordered mine on the 6th April but not seen anything through the post.

Just give him a summer. This endless desire to chop and change benefits no one. He's been here 5 minutes. At one stage, wasn't it against West Brom few seasons back near to Christmas, the fans were baying for Pearsons head. Its getting boring now.

At this point we have a a very big catchment area. Bristol, South Bristol in particular, is seeing big population growth. There is a reason why they are adding an extra constituency to Bristol in the boundary changes. Rovers are an increasingly limited draw. Somerset is a big county. Bath has a non league club. 

If he has lost the fans than thats pretty pathetic. Christ we have an embarrassing support. The bloke has been here 3 minutes. Yes, he didn't arrive in ideal circumstances but he hasn't been given 20 games? We are Bristol City, not Barcelona.

Fernandes may have a poor mentality but to call him not that good is completely insane. Manchester United has been a graveyard for talent since Fergie left. Fernandes output, especially until Ten Haag joined was quite incredible. This season he's fallen off but he is a fantastic footballer, just happens to also be a massive knob.

Jon Lansdown is, I'm afraid, a clown. In any deal his head would be the first on the chopping block. He shouldn't be running the local costcutter, let alone a Championship football club.

Diabolical figures. No chance any spending in janaury I'm afraid.

Sort of game that can ignite a season. Merry Christmas indeed.

I knew Baldock would come up. Absolutely no idea why people were so lukewarm on him. Scored some goals in a crap side that got relegated. Then scored a lot of goals for a mid table side in League 1. Ended up joining BHA and getting promoted to the EPL.
