  1. Even without the slavery, deaths building stadia, institutionalised 19th century social views and apartheid like conditions this World Cup would be a farce. Won by virtue of bribery and endemic corruption in FIFA, taking place in a country with zero capability, history or interest in football outside sport washing their image.

**** Qatar and **** this World Cup. Tragic that Australia lost out to this embarrassing bid.

Hoping for a major doping or bribery scandal to take place to cap this shit show off.

  2. I was at Spurs last night. Everton were really dreadful, could have been 8-0. Lampard's tactics were woeful and thinking Allan or whatever his name is could cover both Kane and Son dropping deep was delusional. Also, I've not seen a player give up like Richarlson in a very long time, embarrassing.

  3. Perhaps people should educate themselves with statistical modelling before posting in this instance. 400 isn't great, but gives confidence interval of roughly +/- 5% I believe. I think the gold standard for polling is often around 1000 respondents and the accuracy of polling follows the law of diminishing returns from then on.

What would be more interesting is the polling methodology and questions used. But that is an entirely different topic.

  4. Given the financial position of the football club I just hope we get good wack for him in the summer. I'm talking Webster money. Always loved HNM, all the way back to that excellent Derby away performance the summer he arrived. Good luck to him.

  5. Only watched city since 2005ish.

I think some of the slickest football I've seen City play was in the first half of the 17-18 season. Bobby Reid was at the heart of that so he has to be in. As others have mentioned, Joe Bryan's versatility would be incredibly useful.

Lee Trundle would probably be in danger of entering into passenger territory but in close quarters would be devastating. JET would bring physicality which is an underrated component of 5-a-side.

Steven Caulker would make a excellent defensive minded option. Seems like he's fallen out of favour on this forum but for feet skill I've always rated Jay DaSilva. Finally, someone with a bit of hustle is always needed and Paul Hartley fit that description perfectly and hasn't been mentioned by others.

Heaton, Bryan, Hartley, Reid, JET would be my team. With Caulker, Trundle and DaSilva there or there abouts.

Dear Joey convict 6721098, about this...

Bristol rovers fans like to lie about their attendances (especially away), getting a stadium built, their owner's financial worth, how many they took to Wembley, how many fans are locked out of matches, non-league being called division 5 and not sniffing their sister's undewear. Here's a handy graph to explain which club is really biggest in the West Country

It would actually get worse if you include 2018, 2019 and 2020 were our average attendance was c12k more than Rovers.

Seems like a perfect time to Brexit....

Afraid so! Probably the worst time to undertake departure from the EU since we joined the EEC, aside from the 2008 financial crash.

It's possible that the transition period will be extended by 12 months. I hope so anyway. To depart during a global recession would be economically reckless and I can't see the business community letting Johnson go through with it.

  8. You have 3 factors at play

    1. Coronavirius impacting global demand, irrespective of whether the outbreak leads to mass fatalities.

    2. Global financial markets have had a unprecedented 11 year bull run and were over valued, they were due a correction.

    3. Saudi Arabia and Russia entering into a oil price war which could help bring about a deflationary shock.

Will 1, 2 and 3 combine to cause global recession? Probably. How deep will that recession be? Thats the 100 trillion dollar question. At the end of the day a couple of sport events being cancelled will be the least of our worries.
