Totally agree with you. Apart from Jack White I thought it was all a bit meh.

didn’t watch any of it on TV , only person to vaguely interest me was Macca . Didn’t have a clue who anyone else was to be honest.

I reckon I have just been unlucky with Urban, the times I have been there and been underwhelmed are almost too many to count, always leave thinking... 'nice, but no better than loads of other places'.

But everyone else gives it top reviews.

I’ve not been to the restaurant in Small St but have used their sister takeaway on Blackboy Hill and it’s been incredible each time .

  3. Never been, never would ,unless it was a 5 star Motorhome I spose, like my home comforts too much . Each to their own though and if kipping in a field with thousands of strangers is your thing then great! Enjoy! :yawn:Hope the weather is good .

I wasn't that impressed with Mugshot. I spoke to some people who were saying it was the "Pasture-slayer" i.e. even better than Pasture but definitely not for me. The chips are fantastic, I'll give them that. Cocktails were excellent too. But I didn't get on with the concept of cooking my own steak, at those prices I'd rather the chef did it - I know that was an option btw, so maybe my own fault. They forgot our asparagus dish too, and then when it arrived I thought the asparagus was undercooked and over-seasoned with too much salt. The menu is also very meat heavy, so it lacks a bit of choice. Find it a bit odd that they have a pizza menu alongside the steaks, and also they didn't push the dessert menu which I thought was a little odd.  It wasn't bad, and I'd still go back, but it's not in the top echelon of Bristol restaurants just yet IMO.

Ah ok, not been for quite a while now so maybe I’ll give it another go. I also opted for my steak to be cooked as i wanted it right. The various butters were lovely as was the wine we had . Pasture is excellent though so it does have to go some to beat it . Watch this space .

I’ve been to France, Belgium and Holland twice in the last two weeks, fuel is no cheaper over there, so it’s not some UK only rip off.

Good to know, I think it’s pretty much world wide . Even the US where it was about 40p a gallon has seen a massive increase….those gas guzzling V8s are going to become ornaments….

They should temporarily scrap VAT on fuel until the issue is resolved.

That said, from a climate emergency perspective, it's not a bad thing that people are thinking harder about making unnecessary trips, using public transport and driving slower to reduce fuel consumption.

I agree completely, we just need a decent transport system to have that alternative.
