    Does anyone know this ex NoW journalist. It must be a City fan.

    Play football with plenty of them. Obviously nice people and loved the banter last year with Matty Taylor. I want to see City do better than Rovers and I want us to beat them when we play more than any other fixture, but I'd never ever wish they went bust.

    A bit late watching this. I knew the incredibel story of Divvy, but I have never seen this before. What an incredible bit of footage. Thanks for sharing. Puts EVERYTHING in perspective. Love football, love where you are from. No other sport comes close.

    i don't see any other way out of it for them, it's simple math, if expenditure exceeds income with no prospect of that changing then once any asset values are equal to the losses it's game over, unless they strike oil at the mem.

    But havent newport survived and got back in the league. Can you name a longstanding league club who have go e out of existence?

  6. Its really does seem like a slow motion road crash. However much we laugh they are a club with passionate support over generations and they will not die but i could see them becoming a non-league/league two yo yo club. They wont do a Brighton because Bristol is a two club town.

    I have a lot of gas head friends, and I agree that this analysis makes me feel sorry for them. It gets worse and worse on the evidence of the great research done here.

    Reading the rather level headed remarks below from poster 'Holmes' on the Rovers forum might be worth further analysis:~

    When the Memorial Stadium Company purchased  the Mem from Arthur Holmes it was for £2.6m. Bristol Rovers were liable for half and the Rugby club the other half. When the rugby club went bust Rovers acquired their share of the stadium and the debt for £10k. Funded 50% by Barclays with a mortgage secured on the stadium and 50% by preferential shareholders. Read the accounts, it's all in there

    There is more to this. Holmes was made life President and he probably knew that the rugby was on the verge of bankruptcy. Sly old fox  Mr Holmes.
