  1. Lets be honest here, wally didn't get involved with them for footballing reasons.
  2. Im sure your correct. In effect with the land sald Rovers got a stadium for free and the rugby chairman got his money back and was made a president of the football club. The rugby club were stitched right up.
  3. Makes you wonder don't it, why the rugby club sold half the ground for 2 million when they could have sold the training pitch for more and retained ownership of the actual ground.
  4. Maybe they could look on gumtree - free to collect?
  5. I think the regeneration has already been completed, not sure where they go after cleaning carpets etc? Think that's as good of a regeneration they are ever going to get. Maybe phase two of the regeneration could be installing some new lamp shades? New toilet roll holders?Hanging some wood chip wallpaper? If the budget is kept under control I believe they could pull this off before the start of next season.
  6. Can't remember the ins and outs but that was another dodgy deal. Think the Rovers directors also ended up owning a lot of those houses. The rugby used to do a lot of training on that pitch, i remember spending a lot of my youth going up there watching them train.
  7. They would imo be better off knocking it all down and just having a huge stand like the Lansdown stand, of course they would need money to do this. Could possibly build it behind their existing stand so wouldn't need to move during construction.
  8. Unfortunately one of my neighbours plays for the blue few, despite being on of them he's quite a nice bloke. If only I could share some of the things he's told me in confidence. Let's just say, Uwe falling through and being bottom of the league is the least of their problems. He did mention that he didn't blame Taylor for joining us and would have done exactly the same if in Taylors position.
  9. So even back in those days Rovers were told a price and got someone else to pay a bit of it as they didn't want to pay the going rate?
  10. Why should UWE have to rethink their approach? It's their land so it either gets built on their terms or not at all. Why do they think they have a divine right to get things for free? These sags are always after something for nothing.
  11. The Dolman redevelopment was planned and executed brilliantly. Im not trying to take anything away from the achievement but we paid them to do a job and they did what we asked, pretty much flawlessly. We enjoyed such a flawless construction because we were able to pay for a top class firm to deliver the project, the sags couldn't do this. The only issue with the LS was the required 14 month build time. The Memorial will have far greater challenges than we faced. Construction traffic access, keeping the ground open during the work, nearby houses, and most importantly the very tight space. We had far more space to work with than they have, and was able to keep the stadium open, something im not sure they could. Im not even sure rotating the stadium would give much more space and that would present a million more problems.
  12. Our loss is greater, we actually owned Wilbs, they owned **** all.
  13. Wally gambled on the Sainsburys cash and being able to turn a quick profit and run off with the cash, most likely after Higgs told him about the water tight contract. . Not as complex as ours? Ours would be seen as a straight forward build compared to the enormous challenges there would be in developing the memorial. The Dolman was the only real challange, but this is why you pay these experts. The biggest challange was keeping the stadium open and safe during construction. The Ss and LS were pretty simple builds. Seems to me that Rovers want the land for free. How does it feel knowing despite all this so called progress if you have a promisimg player in your development squad we can take them away from you for peanuts? Dont want to disappoint you but you are still genuinely behind every club in League One and most of League Two and even some of the Conference infrastructure wise. Dont let last seasons decent finish cloud that. Even my bloody gran has a fit bit watch so dont go getting too exicited about your gps trackers.
  14. All of us on here predicted this at the time he purchased the club.
  15. Opposite for me. That's football. If counted up all the bad decisions we have had this season we would be at the other end of the table.
  16. I'm really starting to enjoy home games again. That was one of the best first half performances this season.
  17. I don't even understand rugby but this confused me.
  18. Don't know why I bother to come, it's rubbish.
  19. 13k tickets sold for tomorrows game? With potd likely to be around 15k? Still quite poor imo for a big Derby game.
  20. Well, here's the thing. We would win hands down even before either club has had a home game because our season ticket sales alone would be higher than their maximum attendance.
  21. Thinking about this a little more, no home fans for football, no fans at all for rugby, potentially about to redevelop that end shortly?
