  1. He does play a 4 at the back at times and he has enough in this squad to adapt to whatever way he sets us up. It may be the case that we get some loans in January to supplement the style he wishes us to play I’m intrigued to see what effect he has on our playing style
  2. Who’s his No2 at Oxford? I think whoever he brings in of his staff will also be important in how he develops our playing style as he certainly has Oxford playing some fantastic attacking football apparently having spoken to a few people I know who follow Oxford. They weren’t sure when he joined earlier this year but say he’s got them playing the best football they have seen at the club in the time they’ve been following which is 30 years Appreciate it’s L1 but playing principles and coaching apply at any level, just the players are a higher quality the further up the pyramid you coach - hopefully
  3. At last, a well balanced and informed post rather than the deluded comments of those who expected a high profile coach who was going to wave a magic wand and get us promoted If it is Manning then I’m happy to back him and support the players rather than write him off before he’s even started
  4. Ironic that they signed Palmer & JD from us
  5. If you base FLs ability on his Championship experience then he has done it with Derby albeit with a couple of good loans from the Prem It would certainly raise the profile of the club and inject a lot of interest from the football media I wouldn’t be too disappointed to see him brought in if he can attract a few loans in January to boost a decent squad that we already have and kick on and up the division
  6. It would be ironic for Eustace to come in now and reap the benefits of players coming back from injury and getting us in the top 6 and the playoffs at the end of the season If he doesn’t then I fear the Lansdowns and BT will be getting pelters
  7. I’ve got a sneaky feeling it will be wilder also but he will want some backing in the January window if he’s expected to get us in the top 6
  8. I do wonder that when a new head coach is brought in and by some strange miracle he gives us a positive bounce, we get in the top 6 and then pip Ipswich to second place on the last day of the season and get automatic promotion what we will all think when looking back at NP’s sacking and the comments on this forum over the past few days Supporters are a fickle breed and only seek success for their club, it doesn’t matter who, or how they just want it SL wants and needs a buyer and will get a far better return if we are a Prem club - maybe he is getting impatient? He’s tried chucking money at it, tried being patient and build from within but realised Covid hit plans to keep home grown talent and had to sell due to FPP Whats Next Steve?
  9. I sincerely hope this is the case and was always the strategy but it will only become apparent when a new head coach is brought in and what the club do in the January window hopefully we can get our unfit players back on the pitch and start gaining some consistent performances When you look at the recent results, we have not performed poorly and losing by the odd goal against the top two sides is no disgrace bearing in mind the injuries and using under 21 players I just hope the board choose wisely regards a new coach as it needs to be someone the supporters are happy with and can help us kick on to the next level but I won’t hold my breath
  10. That’s the problem, it’s his club not yours so **** you
  11. NP was given a big task to sort out an overpaid underperforming squad and keep us in the Championship I think he more than achieved that brief and has stabilised the playing side albeit with a level of inconsistency but now with a much smaller & tighter squad I’m not sure what the hierarchy expect from NP when he’s had very little scope and budget to work with? Unless SL wants to spend and go for it again then we will have to wait and see a la Rooney at Brum but learn the lessons of the past and stick with NP and give him some funds to push us another step forward and if he fails then that is the time to change
  12. Can’t fill a small away end - shameful! Two nice strikes by Burton for 3rd & 4th goals
  13. One of the greatest players ever to play for England and such a gentleman off the pitch RIP Sir Bobby
  14. Sad news - Sir Bobby Charlton passed away this morning RIP Sir Bobby
  15. Cornick shouldn’t get anywhere near a starting line up when TC & NW are fit TC is the next one to go for big bucks in the summer
  16. Absolute rubbish first half and lucky to be 0-0
  17. Premier league ref and that’s two pens he’s missed already
  18. How many more times is Cornick going to get caught offside
  19. I’ve always seen James as a top quality midfielder and he’s got team mates around him now which help bring out his quality As for Williams, I thought he did well last night but seems half a yard off it at times and his injuries has maybe taken its toll on his sharpness As for Knight, this guy is a machine and sets the tone of the press. I was amazed how much work he got through and his stats must be off the scale I did feel slightly sorry for Nakhi as he works so hard but just can’t seem to find his scoring touch
  20. I suppose if James got injured then Naismith could play in James role and Dickie brought back in to the defence
  21. Listening to the comments from the Argyle fans as they walk at the back of the Lansdown stand, awe and wonder at the look and size i dare say they are brought down to earth once they reach the Atyeo stand ?
