  1. Bell is so out classed physically it is a joke. He isn’t a good player. Sure you wanna just play balls down channels and let him run him self into the ground so he gets on the end of one or two of them, sure he is useful. Of the defender gets back with him that is the end of the attack. Same goes with Cornick on the other side. Neither can beat a man and get a decent cross in. 2 of our depth players restricting us from signing anyone else apparently. Bell had one quality touch and pass and I am sure that’ll be the defence of him this evening. Thought countless promising attacks died with him though. Surprised Mehmeti come off instead of Bell. Not that Mehmeti set the world alight today(who did?) but he has linked well with Roberts in the past I thought.
  2. Been saying it years. The club from SL down say we want to be top 6 every year. 35m in the last two windows. Probably dropped 50-75k off the wage bill even after signings. I think people want to be angry about it they have every right to be. It is underwhelming year after year. Year after year get opposing teams fans saying why would this player go To city to finish 15th. They have a point. There is no hope year after year. Think we all got the tough covid years and realised the finances were awful. Now the excuses don’t seem to add up.
  3. I actually wonder more about clubs like Newcastle and Villa at they don’t really have significant outgoings that I can think of. Chelsea have spent crazy but january and this summer the signings have been younger and think will help Them profit in future. Very risky though and spending now seems a necessity more than anything with how bad their summer window was last year
  4. First time I saw Dickie in the friendly against Oxford I wasn’t impressed. He has grown each and every time I have seen him since. Looks a great signing Vyner think I maybe been one of his few believers. Give him a position and keep him there and he’d excel. Still thought he’d just be a dependable squad player but he keeps getting better and more confident by the game. Need to sort out his contract asap.
  5. Feels like next season every season. He is right we have the squad, the performance centre, the stadium and while I am not always convinced, the manager who built that squad. Why would you not give him the resources to be successful this season? If he doesn’t like NP and was always going to sell Scott, why not get rid of NP and get a new man in? The cost wouldn’t be crazy with NP having a year left. I just don’t get SL. Gets bit by one regime. Gets a decent one in and restricts them because he was bit. Few years go by and backs wrong regime and gets bit again. Whats he do? Restricts the better one again. Never fault him for letting city push ffp and spending his money but he is seriously a poor decision maker. Think the club may need s change from the top to every really succeed.
  6. Happy for Kane doing something different. He’s been pretty professional through the years there. He deserves to make this bold decision. Excited to see how he gets on there
  7. Disagree. They were a mess last season and it will probably cost them for a few years in terms of winning trophies. That said, when I have seen them over the summer they look sharp. Caicedo is a must and the price is crazy but I do think his signing makes them strong top 4 contenders. They spent some crazy money for sure but I think Pochettino is sifting through it. Glad football is back. All of my summer opinions about to be shattered in weeks if not days ?
  8. Plenty to like with Twine but he is only played 14 times in the championship. Not super sure he’d definitely be an upgrade. Think I’d rather Brannigan if choice between the two. Brannigan been a standout at that level for years. Imagine it means he is just a good footballer. Would like a creative type but maybe more the next Twine.
  9. Maybe not as far as possible after the mess we had ? if he is going to be here he should be backed with funds and a contract though. I’d like to see another 2-3 knight type signings to be honest. 1-2m range maybe slightly more. Not crazy wage signings either. Happy with best of L1 or a championship steal
  10. Some of you are so negative mind. We lost out best player 1 league game into the season and we are joking about it? ?
  11. The last line is what I am getting at really. Hope to see us proper strengthen now. We have options in a lot of places but think we need to look at bettering them.
  12. No I get most of the sales and all that and the situation we were in. Part of my frustration is I have seen money come in and us waste it. Now I think we have a plan and we have players identified. Yet I can’t imagine the backing will be even close to the same. Like SL holds the past situation on the current people in place. I don’t want to see Scott go for 25m and buy 3 players for 5-8m on 20k a week. Too risky. I do hope we maybe look at one in that tier and add more like Knight and McRorie in that up to 2.5m range. I am just not sure it is going to happen. If thats the case just keep AS and have a go with the current squad plus Scott. We could easily function giving 4 year deals and selling off in the last year much like Peterborough. Maybe Scott is in that mould as they get daft money for their players too but at some point I think we should get more value out of the contracts we give out from an on the pitch perspective. Take a small hit on the financial side
  13. I think the frustration is we have never really seen the club “go for it.” When have we had momentum and push on? Been here almost ten years and lucky enough my first season watching city was promotion and JPT. We had a young and hungry squad coming of massive success. Did we back that and make it stronger? No We then solidified our position in the league for a couple seasons. Nothing wrong with that. Then we had a strong season where we flew through the first half of the year. We didn’t seem prepared for January and while we got players in, we ultimately fizzled out. That summer, we sold two top players for us but with that we strengthened a bit. We had a really good season and sustained it right the way through. Finished 8th I think? Good position to build on, right? Well we will just sell arguably our best player after only one season. Ok wasted the opportunity to get better with the money. Then few years of struggle after a pandemic. Ok, we sort the wage bill out. Bring through academy players. Start building a squad and a big part of that is this gem we developed. Financially we are ok. The squad hasn’t been this strong in years. He has two years left on his deal. What do we do? Sell our best player again going into what should be a season of success(whatever you think that is). For me, we sell at the wrong times for the most part. We also rarely get the right players with the money. I’d like to see us actually hold firm for once and say no, we want to see where this goes. Maybe we’ll be better for it down the road. That said just always feels like it is next season.
  14. We shouldn’t have put a price out there. 25m good money for sure but we’d have been fine ffp wise without the sale this season. We’d still have got 12-15m next summer for him anyway which would still be good money. It does seem to me that we are too quick to sell when momentum seems to be picking up. Webster coming off our best season in 10 years. Scott now that NP has gotten a side built in his vision. We will see what the plan is the rest of the window. Pass judgement then I guess. However the timing ain’t great. We don’t spend and falter the fanbase will turn pretty quick I think.
  15. I saw QPR one. It is early I don’t want to overreact too much. Just seems most teams are set up front foot early on. In the Leeds game they were talking about how 80+ goals over a season gets you promoted. We aren’t auto promotion contenders but we didn’t set up in a way where we can even dream.
  16. Yes they do. Still getting forward well though imo. Other then Ampadu not really added anyone. A relegated side probably needs to look at defenders. Ayling and Cooper best days probably gone. Struijk never been convincing either.
  17. I hope so!! The football am watching today is pretty good. Only Sheffield Wednesday I have seen look as poor as we did
  18. Watching today’s games shows how far behind we are tactically from everyone else imo. Everyone pressing high and getting their fullbacks forward. Athletic all over pitch. Yes it was one game yesterday but we set up to limit opposition instead of taking the game to them. My optimism has gone down considerably after one weekend. Quite a few not fit for us first game. Which is another concern tbh but see how we get on with everyone fit. The talk of troubling the top half from the club itself looking like they are lacking awareness. The games today are refreshing to watch.
  19. Didn’t think Preston looked bad moving it around tbh. Think we were just well off the pace.
  20. Point not a disaster and shirts up for grabs against Oxford. It was poor and I am putting that on the midfield. Their midfield athletic, direct and aggressive. Williams a shell of the player we thought we were getting. James looked a year older imo. Weimann also looked lost in the few minutes he had I thought. Wanted to see Naismith, Scott and Knight in midfield and nothing changed my mind there. Injuries prevent that for now. Think it was a midfield issue today. Not too displeased otherwise. Pring and Tanner need to do better though if they want to keep playing. The front 3 all grafted but fed on scraps. Same with the subs. The cbs were pretty solid I thought. Knight grafted and will have better days. A bit of a let down after the summer. Can’t help but think we don’t play on the front foot enough.
  21. Leaves two specialist CBs until Atkinson fit. Naismith and McRorie options for sure and Roberts I know come through as a CB. We are probably fine but if someone we like becomes available I think we should look. Vyner future up in the air. How does Atkinson fair upon return? Dickie coming off a not so decent season what if he doesn’t find form again? Unlikely everything is a negative there but we need to keep looking forward imo.
  22. Don’t think it is 100% true but something like that. We’ll still look at players in every position if we can do something and it would be affordable to our structure if we wasn’t be sold. Basically, we still probably need a CB, we might want another GK depending how they feel about WR and Bajic. And we may look at a midfielder if he goes. We won’t rush into any of these it seems and doubt we’d spend a big fee on anyone. We also have the wage structure. So just because we have money from a Scott sale won’t mean we go daft with spending. Why in my opinion I think keep him. The 25m won’t actually mean too much for us imo. If he stayed another season and not promoted the 10-15m we would get next summer would still be a big boost to how city is run now. FWIW, not sure we need another player to replace him. We have players here that are fine and need minutes. It was just one game but being at Portsmouth we looked more an attacking threat with Weimann behind the striker. I think Scott is more of a deeper player that picks it up and drives from deep. I think his talent can swing games so worth keeping him but still think we’d be a good side without him. From the little I have seen of Benarous pre injury, I’d be excited to see him play the role of more advanced midfielder
  23. I can see not wanting to send someone off but surely give the foul? Where was the linesman as well? Would be easier call for linesman I think?
  24. By my guess 12-15m. It is still a significant amount for us and we can have another season with him. Last covid year drops off after this season and think we look good financially going forward. If he doesn’t go this summer and we are 4th in January, we’d probably say 35m. I think the price we are quoting is the number we are comfortable selling him for. Transformative money for the simple reason we do NOT want to sell him. See above, the price is there because we don’t want to sell. If we wanted money he’d be gone for probably 18-20m rising to whatever by now. Idk if clubs think we have to sell and are playing hardball but we seem comfortable with the situation. NP in last year of his deal too. Idk his plans but seeing as this is technically his final season as it stands, I doubt he wants to sell our best player. Seems like some are anxious about selling him for the 25m. We won’t need the money how we are run now. If we can keep recruiting well and churning out from the academy, we can do what Peterborough do and sell in their final year. McRorie could be solid for 3 seasons and want to leave. Say we sell for 1.5m. Sounds like 500k loss but it will look like profit going forward from the point of that sale. Knight may have 2 seasons and go for 5-6m like Brownhill. Big profit and puts 1.5-2m into accounts for a few seasons. We don’t seem like we’ll be maxing out ffp like we did before. So we won’t really need 20m sales to get by. If Scott goes for 25m can see some disappointment here when we spend 6-7m on 2-3 players from same league or lower. That is our market whether we get big fees or not, imo.
  25. Idk, I think the fact we haven’t really seen him linked anywhere makes me think he is going to accept a deal here. Or at least see the logic in it. Take a month of his old wages say 100k before he accepts the new deal of 45-50k a month. You can say behind the rest of the squad but so would any replacement. Kalas knows the lads and knows how we want to play. If anyone could use an extra month off it is Kalas. He attracted the attention of a top club in Chelsea. Played loads for a respectable nation internationally. He isn’t going to come back out of shape as is the ultimate professional. I’d have him back and wouldn’t be rushing him to make a decision. Maybe if Scott had been gone by now we bring in someone else already. Scott is here and Kalas about as good an option available on a free.
