No idea if I count as silent, or a majority. Under manning, to date, the football has been pretty awful to watch, slow, predictable, and not adjusted to compensate for the many weaknesses in the squad. We don’t have anyone who is good as a lone striker, and no idea why we are playing Knight in a forward, nondescript role.
He might come good, but equally, if he left tomorrow, I wouldn’t be sorry.

I’d prefer not to spend big this window, January signings can be over-priced desperation signings. We look reasonably safe, and it would take a lot of money to be anywhere near promotion standard, with no guarantee of success.

Hate to spoil the Fleetwood bashing, but the slump is mostly related to off field problems, and the Chairman being jailed for fraud

How did you know? Used that from work pre-Covid, always trying to use a HST set

No.its three car class 158 set
It was a Class 165 Turbo set. Most GWR 158 sets are 2 carriages, usually running as a pair.
Just looked it up, set 165112
I’ll get my anorak

Genuinely think I’d prefer Bananarama to take charge.
It ain’t what they do it’s the way that they do it

Great to see Alex Fletcher return from his horror injury at Trumpton yesterday.
That was a late sub appearance against Hampton & Richmond in August (I was there). Not appeared since then, and not on the bench at Braintree yesterday

Wow
Well worn path, spend money you don’t have, fail, massive cutbacks, relegation.

Or we could ‘go for it’ and take the well worn path to League One…

Think I’ll take stability with SL ahead of an unknown owner, spending big and crashing even bigger. We’ve only just recovered from the last mad spending spree, and look to be on the right track with the Academy. Rather be stable in the Championship than broke with the Gas

It’s Welsh Government money, in the form of a loan, and seems a far better investment than throwing money at Party Donors in exchange for very little

As confidently predicted on the way back, a thread about Max. He’s been good since coming in, made a rare mistake today, what’s the issue. Happens to all keepers at this level.

So I take it Max is the latest scapegoat, despite some pretty decent performances this season?

Decent shot stopper but that is about it. Kicking is atrocious. Doesn’t command his area. I don’t think Bentley did either for comparison.
By no means a terrible keeper, just more of a championship No.2. I see O’Leary as a weak link in the team. There has to be stronger options out there.
If everyone at the club was fit you would I don’t know what other area you would look at and say it needed strengthening more than in goal. Right back is covered, as is left back and centre backs. Midfield and attacking are all decent with the youngsters growing season by season. Yes some will leave, some are entering their twilight years. But man for man as it stands, keeper would be the first area I would look to improve on.
Glad you’re not manager! He’s been hugely consistent lately and the one part of the team where there is no concern.

It’s this largely (I think the flying seats is a bit of stretch). I’m torn as there’s nothing wrong with improving the atmosphere and people making an organised effort to do so and the pro-activity is good. However IF the anecdotal reports in here are true of people not being able to get to their normal seats - that’s clearly not ok. Unfortunately as much as we all like atmosphere, the fact you sing/shout and someone else chooses not to does not give you a right to their seat.
Sadly, after 45 years of watching City, I would not dismiss the flying seats as fantasy.
-
I think that if I paid for a seat and found it occupied by some self-entitled youth, or my view impeded, I’d be a tad cross. The selfishness of some, and lack of respect for older/ less able fans is really poor.
There’s also policing to consider, quite sure the ‘atmosphere’ will involve flying seats at some point. The intentions may be good, but the manner it’s being done is so wrong, and so little respect for other supporters.

I was actually at that match yesterday. The film isn’t mine but the whole match from start to finish was unbelievable. The insults between the benches all game was on another level. It was bottom of the league against top with the bottom team throwing away a 4-2 lead with ten minutes to go to lose 5-4, hence the celebration and the melee.
What game was that?

I’m so tired of this football club.
We’ve done “young up and coming manager” and it failed.
We’ve done “complete novice” and it failed.
We’ve done “club legend” and it failed.
We’ve done “journeyman coach” and it failed (in the championship).
We’ve done “bloke who did well at a club down the road” and it failed (in the championship).
We’ve done “proven manager who’s been promoted out of the Championship” and even that appears to be failing.
…and yet the answer is always another new manager. I’m not saying Pearson should stay. But neither am I convinced anyone else would do any better. I’m just sick to death of constant mediocrity and disappointment from a club that has the potential to be so much more.
Maybe the issue is this constant change of strategy, rather than seeking continuity. We also have to accept that we will always be a smaller Championship side, and don’t have the resources to try and buy promotion. It’s a pity we tried that a few years ago, de-stabilising finances, and meaning the quality youngsters are coming through at a bad time.
Doubt NP will be around long now, let’s see if we look for a sensible, long term strategy, or just go for another ‘usual suspect’, as demanded by this Forum.
