  1.

According to the Bristol Live article of 9th Jan which states Joey Barton cant 'bear' Plymouth and i quote

Joey Barton has dismissed any suggestion he will use Tuesday's EFL Trophy quarter-final clash with South West rivals Plymouth Argyle to rest and rotate; the Bristol Rovers boss says this one is personal.

    Today the story is

First-team coach Andy Mangan says Bristol Rovers did not want to risk injuries to their star players who went unused as substitutes as the Gas were knocked out in the EFL Trophy quarter-finals by Plymouth Argyle on Tuesday.

Aaron Collins, Josh Coburn and Scott Sinclair were sat in a dugout packed with quality throughout as Argyle won 2-0 in difficult conditions in BS7, with Ben Waine and Ryan Hardie punishing some lax defending in the first half.

Firstly what changed and is it factually correct that the Rovers bench is packed with quality!!

  2. Does anyone have any idea about the season ticket loyalty discount. I always put the £10 start up balance towards a home shirt which made the price more bearable but read that isnt a start up balance this year!!

  3. The real problem is the whole defence has to stop letting in 2 goals a game. 3 games in a week, 2 goals conceded per game, had we not scored 3 against cardiff that would be another win thrown away. Expecting the strikers to score 3 goals a game is crazy. As a team this has to be sorted out to give us any chance of mid table safety.

Unfortunately we are more screwed than several other clubs, because we are trying to cut costs from a stupidly high cost base, out of kilter for the club revenues, at a time when we cannot rely on transfer profit to bail out our arses.

    Thats the simple maths.

If we’d not wasted so much money, we could be as competitive as a number of smaller clubs are….and they are making us look bad (Coventry, Luton for example).

Plenty of other threads where me and others go into deeper explanations.

Just like the world outside of football….some companies in a given industry are thriving, others are going bust.

Thanks mate for your reply, so our business model of having players to sell to cover losses is clearly flawed because at some point you run out of good players to sell or the market plunges. There must be a few other clubs playing roulette like we did!!

  5. I don't want to get involved in the discussion on sacking or not sacking Pearson, but can someone explain why everyone keeps saying we are broke and had to massively cut the wage bill and our finances will be screwed. Surely this logic applies to all league clubs not getting Premier League payments. Surely we are no more screwed than the majority of championship clubs. I didn't see all other clubs bin off double digit number of players in the summer. I'm not saying getting our finances in order isn't the right thing to do but are we the only club playing fair or are other clubs doing the same?

  6. I don't think I have ever heard a manager guaranteeing promotion. Talk about giving every other manager in league 2 their team talk. Just play the clip above. He is so confident in his magic abilities. I wonder if he is so confident he won't be spending time at her majesty pleasure!!

  7. If all the gas heads can constantly throw at us is something that happened nearly 40 years ago in 1982, long before many city fans were born (but I guess the blue half havent many fans born since then) it just shows what a pitifull existence they have had since.

Oh my god the bloke thinks he is the best manager in the world, you would think from his career description he was Messi as a player. The bloke is deluded and really was a thug of a player and a tinpot manager. Seems pretty confident he will escape prison so obviously ready to spill a load of bull in court.

  9. Fantastic articles in the Bristol Live website. Firstly it was the refs fault for picking on them again. Secondly the gas medical department isn't top level which Barton is used to (he ought to see what we have had to deal with). Never fear he has bought in a General who knows about setting up Ebola hospitals to review the structure so should fit right in at them.
