Really interesting - I hadn’t heard this. No-one knows the salaries of course, but other rumours were he was on less than half what you are quoting. Surely King would be on more? Always had a lot of time for Pato, thought he always gave his all. I don’t agree with the original 1 in 10 at all.

He’s delivering far more than 1 in 10 for Swansea right now. Also he was consistently one of our best performers with Bobby in that season. Given his interviews since leaving and needing to go on trial at Boro, I am certain he would signed on reduced terms, that said, he was never one of the high earners anyway.

The trouble with Lowe’s record - just like comparing Pearson at Leuven (?) is that he’s never managed or even perhaps played in the Championship. I still think you mostly need experience of this division to get out of it, unless you have bottomless pockets or parachute payments. Lowe would have been and still would be a massive risk. I would also worry his stature would not help us attract the quality loans we need to get up.

But…. he needs to offer much more going forward. And if we’re being really negative -his throw ins have been terrible recently- he gave the ball away twice against Bournemouth. He’s a great prospect but let’s not get carried away yet!

It wasn’t good obviously but it was so much better than a year ago and that string of games when we had no shots on target or any attacks with purpose. Things are very slowly improving - but I agree it doesn’t make it much fun right now.

Many forgetting Pring’s very heavy touch at the start - he was clean through and must do better. This could have significantly changed to whole game. Agree with others that Preston missed the games best chance. Is finishing with 5 attackers on the pitch brave or desperate?

Let's also not forget it was S O'D who first talked about Bobby's talent. No-one likes him, but as a coach he could spot potential [see also Joe Morrell]. I don't want to take credit away from LJ - but did he get lucky with Bobby - he was played upfront because we had failed to sign a recognised striker (who LJ was still searching for) and he clicked. I doubt (this can never be proven) that LJ actually had a plan to coach him into a PL striker. Same with Webster - he was talented before he got here - the question mark was his injury record. For balance agree Josh did develop under LJ.

Not a good age for Korey to pick up a bad injury - plenty of players struggle to get back to their combative best at his age after a long time away - let's hope he is not rushed back this season. We all want the battling Korey to return

You rightly criticise the defence but it now contains "one of your own" did Wright look noticeably worse than you remember when he wore the PNE shirt?
