  1. Delighted that we won but looks like 3-1 flattered us. Based on the highlights Brum created some excellent chances, if they’d been a bit more clinical / shown a little more composure, we could have easily conceded two or three tonight. Will need to defend much better at Boro.
  2. Nothing particular. His general analysis and reading of the ebb and flow of the game impressed me. Many ex-players struggle to articulate the essence of games however it seemed he was very much reflecting the realities of what was unfolding. As Old-Eastender mentioned he could be management material, that’s if he fancies all that goes with that!
  3. Well played City, hugely important win. Listened on BCTV and thought Carey made some excellent observations/comments throughout the commentary.
  4. Hello from Gran Canaria. Reading this thread is an excellent (just resisted the temptation) start to Good Friday. Havanatopia has excelled (resisted yet again) with today’s OP. Let’s hope it’s a cracking (oops) game and we get the three points. I predict a 2-0 City win with a goal in each half from Bobby and Joe. Travel well the Red Army and cheer us on loud and proud. City fans, wherever you are, have a great Easter.
  5. Hav Enjoy the game, as LJ always says, there is nothing wrong with being short and sweet. For some reason I thought you meant the sea water at Clevedon, then I saw this: https://www.itv.com/news/westcountry/update/2018-01-11/people-in-clevedon-area-told-to-boil-water-before-use/ Maybe best to stick to the Royal Oak next time you need a drink! Certainly with you on the ear-rings
  6. We have already created more chances than in the entire first half
  7. Villa have been clinical. For me their opener was against the run of play, however, since they went one up they’ve grown in confidence and dominated things. We need to get one back early in the second half, somehow. Maybe by sticking Flint up front and bringing on NE with the instruction to get quality crosses in. Rather we changed things and pushed to get back in this game, even if it means we don’t manage to get back in it and end up losing by more. Reckon if we get one back early doors we can push on and their confidence/dominance will recede.
  8. Made my first visit to Villa Park on 4 May 1968, as an eleven year old, it finished Villa 2 City 4. Anyone remember who scored for us that day? www.11v11.com/matches/aston-villa-v-bristol-city-04-may-1968-113804/ Reckon today it will be 1-1 with Snodgrass and Brownhill scoring.
  9. So BigTone we have that in common, along with both attending our first game at AG as three year olds, although at 61 I just shade you in the number of years of supporting the City.
  10. Obviously gutted to lose the game in the last minute. We were punished for a few errors by a very good team. The positives are we were far from outplayed, we played our game and individual errors can be learnt from. Thought it was an excellent advertisement for the Championship, with two footballing teams matching each other all over the pitch and there was a decent referee. As the year comes to an end I’m a very proud City fan.
  11. Well played both teams and the ref who allowed the game to flow and could easily have stopped it in the lead-up to both of our goals.
  12. Fancy (and very much hope) that this will be a great game, think it will end 1-1. Playing on a Friday night brings forward that Saturday afternoon feeling and means that, if we win, we get a longer weekend glow! Travel well the faithful and sing until you are all sung-out.
  13. Look a bit light-weight up front, nevertheless I standby my prediction of City winning 3-0!
  14. Certainly not a classic City performance, in fact at times quite basic and agricultural. Nevertheless, three points away from home, the character to battle and overcome giving away a poor goal and superb travellling support.
  15. Great stuff Hav. Incredible to think that it was 40 odd years ago that I stood on the terraces at Highfield Road, among so many others, and witnessed what you describe unfolding. What a night that was! You paint a delightful picture of the beauty of the North East which serves to reinforce my intention to, hopefully one day, visit the many areas of my homeland I have yet to see, including the NE. In the meantime I’m about to dust off my Dire Straits collection and look forward to a good City performance and City winning, 2-1 I fancy. Travel well and sing your hearts out the travelling Red Army. CTID.
  16. Agree Major. Burton parked the bus and we didn’t have enough quality or urgency to score. Replica of Millwall game. Hope Smith has not done anything serious. Still, looking on the bright side that’s 12 unbeaten.
  17. One of the many joys of supporting the City is you never can be sure what the result will be! Recently I was at the Emirates for Arsenal v Brighton, it was pretty certain that Arsenal would win, the only question being by how many, which is something I’ve never experienced as a City fan. This actually detracted from my enjoyment of the game. Think tonight will be akin to the Bolton game, not a great spectacle perhaps but have a feeling we will win 2-0. COYR
  18. Just ordered a chicken and an egg from Amazon......I’ll let you know.
  19. Yep I’m nervous too. Years of following City has instilled a horrible expectation that we often lose when expected to win and vice-versa! So picking-up points away to Reading, Wolves and Norwich might just be a precursor to a slap in the face tonight. Although my head says we are the better team and if we perform as we can we should win, my City heart is having a few doubts.
  20. I’ll raise my glass to ‘thrashing them to Kingdom come’, although will also be delighted if we play well and win by any margin.
  21. Great read as always, thank you H. My knowledge of my homeland grows with each of your posts. I know little about Norwich other than the Delia connection and it's the home of Colman's. https://www.colmans.co.uk/colmans-story As for today I have it as ending 1-1 which would be a decent away point. COYR.
  22. https://www.bcfc.co.uk/news/woodrow-handed-first-city-start/ just boarding a boat to Guernsey then onward to Herm for a beer festival, predictions: City to win 2-1 Bobby and Joe to score I will be pissed by 6 pm
