Obviously disappointing to lose to a late goal. However, let's all remember that we are a young and new team and very much a work-in-progress, needing at least a couple more transfer windows. Other than against Brighton we haven't lost by more than one goal this season. It is increasingly obvious where we need to strengthen the team in January. Let's support our team as we continue to improve and recall just how poor things were this time last season!

Be interested in others reflections on a bench-mark game, mine go like this: We were very poor, individually and collectively Brighton were comfortable all over the park, we weren't comfortable anywhere Fortunate to get away with a 2-0 defeat We created no decent chances and when we ran out of ideas resorted to hopelessly optimistic long balls I would be absolutely delighted to be proved wrong but can not see us finishing any higher than 8th If we play like that many more times it will be a bottom half finish

Thank you for a well informed, interesting, thought provoking and balanced post. Today's game provides a really intriguing bench-mark of our progress and standing in the league. Although I really do hope I'm hopelessly wrong I think we will lose today. Whatever the result it will be crucial to honestly consider the performance and potential of the team that plays against Brighton. This is the kind of game we need to win if we are to be a top six team at the end of the season, I realistically see us finishing no higher than 8th.

Didn't think any City player had an impressive game tonight. Despite lots of possession much of it was in non-threatening areas and throughout thought we lacked imagination and consequently created very little. Neverthess it looked easier for Bobby to equalise than miss, although to be honest we didn't really deserve anything out of that game. Cardiff were only very average and on another day we would have come away with three points. So disappointed but losing 2-1 away isn't the end of the world.

So today I got off the train at Parson Street Station and walked to the ground, on the way I looked up and saw Pattersons (the catering equipment supplier) in Winterstoke Road, at this exact moment I had a remarkable premonition. I had already sensed we would win 2-1 then, for some reason, at that very moment, I knew Pato would get the winner!

Wouldn't it be great if we could reproduce the equivalent of the first half v Wednesday and the second half v Villa today?! LJ's team selection is going to be fascinating. The three games we've lost have all been by a single goal, so not sure where the heavy defeat predictions come from. I think today we will win 2-1 with our winner coming from a PENALTY!
