Just noticed my morning cuppa as I write this (see photo) not a good choice of mug, was it! Kick off is 2pm on Sunday and has been selected for live overseas broadcast. We have an allocation of 8,924 tickets, which sold out! Prematch prep: https://www.bcfc.co.uk/video/training/robins-uncut-083-preparations-for-west-ham/ Here’s a little FA Cup quiz, https://www.joe.co.uk/sport/football/the-ultimate-fa-cup-quiz-379733 David Moyes made 83 appearances for us between 1985–1987. https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/david-moyes-bristol-city-wembley-9016121 Liam Manning was head coach of their under 23’s from 2015-19. Head to head we have won 7, lost 17 and drawn 11. Last time we played them they knocked us out of the FA Cup in the fourth round in January 2015 highlights: https://youtu.be/als9CeS9d94 We will be without Sykes. As for them, “Vladimír Coufal, Kurt Zouma, Lucas Paquetá and Michail Antonio are being assessed and we’ll assess them after training on Saturday and make a decision after that.” West Ham snippets One of the most glorious days of British football was when England won the World Cup back in 1966. Three of the Hammers were part of the national team that returned with the trophy. The three winners were Martin Peters, Bobby Moore, and Geoff Hurst. If you are a younger fan, you might not know about these players. However, all you need to know is that Hurst scored a hat-trick in that final, securing the World Cup trophy for England. They have won the FA Cup three times (1964, 1975 and 1980) and been runners-up twice (1923 and 2006). The first FA cup final that took place at Wembley Stadium (which was called Empire Stadium back in the day) was in 1923, and the Hammers made it to the very end. However, they did not manage to win the cup, losing to Bolton Wanderers 2–0. One of the things that made this final memorable is that the number of spectators who attended the game was about 200,000. At that time, the maximum possible capacity of the stadium was 127,000! In the 1964 FA Cup Final side there were seven players whose surname began with the letter “B” They were: Ken Brown, John Bond, Jack Burkett, Eddie Bovington, Peter Brabrook, Ronnie Boyce and Johnny Byrne. In fact around that era there were also Peter Bennett, Dave Bickles, Jimmy Bloomfield, Martin Britt and Dennis Burnett. Ryan Fredericks and Nicky Maynard played for them and us. There have been seven sets of brothers who have played first team football for West Ham. Their nicknames, the Irons and the Hammers, derive from their association with the Thames Ironworks and Shipbuilding Company, whose workers formed Thames Ironworks F.C. West Ham United F.C. played at the Boleyn Ground in nearby Upton Park between 1904 and 2016. They are one of only eight clubs in existence never to have fallen below the second tier of English football, along with Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Everton, Liverpool, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur. Brian Charles Dear, who was called Stag by West Ham fans, managed to break one of the club’s records by having scored five quickest goals ever. It only took him twenty minutes to achieve this in a game against West Brom back in 1965. He was paid £4 that game: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-6327311/Brian-Dear-scored-five-20-minutes-got-80p-goal.html They have scored 10 goals in a match on three occasions: Chelsea away 10-3 in a League South match in March 1940, Clapton Orient at home again 10-3 in the League South in January 1943 and finally Bury at home 10-0 in a League Cup tie in October 1983. They are currently sixth in the Premiership with 34 points from 20 games. It is said to have been adopted by West Ham's supporters in the 1920s (although there is no record of West Ham fans singing the song until 1940), and it is now one of the most recognisable club anthems in British football. Match guide: https://www.whufc.com/news/west-ham-united-v-bristol-city-all-you-need-know What their Assistant Manager thinks of us, "I think it will be a really difficult game. We'll never underestimate anybody. We've had difficult games against Championship teams in previous seasons, but we're in a nice run of form in the last five or six. We're looking forward to it." Pubs The best chance City fans have of grabbing a drink is at the ground itself. Stratford isn’t exactly blessed with pubs, and fans in colours will struggle to be granted access to The Bat and Ball and The Cow, which is a shame, as they’re both good options. The London Stadium is decked out with plenty of food and drink options though, and does more than enough to accommodate fans on match days. Sadly, Hackney Wick’s Crate brewery used to be a good option for football fans in colours, until they announced a clampdown back in 2016. Fans in plainclothes should still be fine to head down and sample the craft beer and pizza though, https://www.cratebrewery.com/pages/venue Howling Hops, Unit 9A Queen's Yard, White Post Lane, London, E9 5EN, https://www.howlinghops.co.uk Tap East, 7 International Square, Montfichet Rd, Westfield Stratford City, E20 1EE, https://www.tapeast.co.uk https://fanlounge.co.uk/best-west-ham-pubs/ Golden Grove, 146-148 The Grove, E15 1NS (Spoons) https://www.jdwetherspoon.com/pubs/all-pubs/england/london/goldengrove-stratford Referee: Graham Scott Assistant Referees: Timothy Wood and Craig Taylor Fourth Official: Robert Madley VAR: Thomas Bramall Assistant VAR: Simon Bennett Support VAR: David Coote Graham Scott will take charge of Sunday's tie. The 54-year-old from Oxford has been part of the Select Group of Referees since 2015, having taken up refereeing in the lower leagues in 1997 after his time playing football came to an early end due to a back injury at the age of 27. Come on you Reds and wishing the traveling supporters a great day.

Our incompetence from throw ins has driven me mad for years and years! We either concede pocession, play it back to the thrower (who is immediately in a difficult spot, with no good options) or go backwards!

Rooney pulling out all the stops - Now Sacked
Jerseybean replied to Silvio Dante's topic in Football Chat
Club statement: Wayne Rooney Birmingham City has today parted company with Manager, Wayne Rooney, and First Team Coach, Carl Robinson. Despite their best efforts, results have not met the expectations that were made clear at the outset. Therefore, the Board feels that a change in management is in the best interests of the Football Club. The Club’s Board and management are fully aligned and will continue to drive transformation and take bold steps to rebuild Birmingham City into the organisation its fans and community deserve. -
You don’t need to be a coach or in fact know anything much about football to realise that one attempt on target (Knight’s header yesterday) in our last two games is a huge concern. Many have commented on our lack of creativity and the backwards/sideways passing, which doesn’t threaten the opposition, the fact we have only managed one goal attempt in the last three hours plus of football has to be addressed if we are going to progress.
