  1. The Robins take on the Canaries. NPs notes: https://www.bcfc.co.uk/city-men-news/niges-notes-norwich-city-h/ Match preview: https://www.bcfc.co.uk/city-men-news/yourparkingspace-preview-norwich-city-h/ In the last round Norwich City edged past Championship rivals Queens Park Rangers with a 99th-minute goal in a low-key Carabao Cup first-round meeting. With penalties looming, substitute Jonathan Rowe headed in with the last action at Loftus Road in a game that only sprung to life in the closing stages. Last season in February we beat them 1-0 at Ashton Gate with Mark Sykes getting the goal, they were restricted to just one shot on target in a game in which Cornick and Mehmeti made their home debuts, highlights: https://youtu.be/ih3ItMUpOWg They ended last season immediately above us with three points more than our 59. They have had their best league start since 2002 and won 4-0 away at Huddersfield last time out but face an anxious wait to discover the extent of scorers Josh Sargent's ankle injury. They signed Bournemouth full-back Jack Stacey on a free transfer and in early June they signed Republic of Ireland centre-back Shane Duffy on a free transfer. Duffy, 31, was released by Fulham at the end of his contract and signed a three-year deal with the Canaries. At the end of June they also signed Spanish winger Borja Sainz on a three-year contract after he left Turkish club Giresunspor. The 22-year-old, who played for his country at under-19 level, scored nine goals in 32 games last season. They signed winger Christian Fassnacht from Swiss side Young Boys for an undisclosed fee. The Canaries have signed the Switzerland international on a two-year deal, with the option of an additional year. Fassnacht, 29, will reunite with Canaries boss David Wagner, who he played under at Young Boys. They have also signed Pedro Lima on a season's loan from Sao Paulo-based Brazilian side Palmeiras. The 20-year-old Brazilian midfielder will initially likely be part of the Canaries' Under-21s side. In mid August they announced the signing of goalkeeper George Long from Millwall on a free transfer. The shot-stopper joins the club on a two-year deal which coincided with Tim Krul signing for Luton Town. On the eve of this season their manager had this to say: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/66404683 Head-to-head record Won: 21 Lost: 37 Drawn:18 Officials Referee: Sam Allison Assistants: Rob Smith and Bhupinder Singh Gill Fourth official: James Bell The club maintains a healthy celebrity support with celebrity cook Delia Smith a joint majority shareholder, alongside her husband, Michael Wynn Jones. Stephen Fry is a fan. Actor Hugh Jackman is also a fan of the club, having been taken to Carrow Road as a child by his English mother, though he turned down an opportunity to become an investor in the club in 2010. Other well-known supporters include television presenter Simon Thomas, who is vice-president of the Norwich City Supporters Trust. Norfolk-born musician, model and media personality Myleene Klass, fiction author Philip Pullman, and former Labour politician Ed Balls. Journalist and broadcaster David Frost also declared his love for The Canaries during his lifetime.

  3. Immediate thoughts Enjoyed our performance, attitude and work rate. We looked a totally different team from the home games against PNE and Brum. Certainly deserved a point and tbh with the number of excellent chances we created we could have won it. The team overall played well, I’d single out Sykes as MotM, thought he was dangerous and his assist was superb. Zak threw in a couple of very sloppy passes late on (hoped he had eradicated them from his game) A huge shout out to the 408 traveling fans brilliant effort and support. A very good point against a team who expected to record a home win.
  4. Friday night in Yorkshire and we play under the MKM Stadium lights, kick off 730 pm. Last season it finished 2-1 at their place https://youtu.be/Nx6ho0BrUvM They ended last season one place and one point behind us. Ground guides: https://footballgroundguide.com/leagues/england/league-one/kc-stadium-hull-city.html and https://footballgroundguide.com/leagues/england/league-one/kc-stadium-hull-city.html If you want to buy a programme here you go: https://www.ignitionsportsmedia.com/products/hull-city-v-bristol-city NP managed them between June 2010 and November 2011, he was appointed to stabilise the team following their relegation to the Championship, he held the role for 15 months until he was enticed to return to Leicester City, the club he had left to join Hull City. Last November they announced former player Liam Rosenior as their head coach. The former full-back made 161 appearances in black and amber between 2010 and 2015 and returned to the top job after a spell as interim manager at Derby County. The club statement at the time noted that ‘Rosenior was a "key member" of the Tigers team which won promotion to the Premier League in 2012/13, helping it to finish 16th in 2013/14 and reach its first FA Cup final the same year.’ He started his coaching career at Brighton and Hove Albion in 2018 after retiring as a player, Rosenior moved to Derby County in 2019. He was promoted to assistant manager under Wayne Rooney in 2021, before the former England star was sacked and Rosenior was asked to take over. He began his playing career with us back in 2001/02 as a midfielder and while at Hull he was managed by NP. NP presser: https://youtu.be/-Bcek6r6AfY I liked the line ‘we owe ourselves a performance.’ Our head -to-head record is decent. Won: 38 Lost: 29 Drawn: 25 They won 2-1 away at ten man Blackburn Rovers last weekend with Connolly scoring twice in the last 10 minutes and currently occupy seventh place with six points following two consecutive wins. Their fans are feeling confident: https://www.not606.com/threads/hull-city-v-bristol-city.408256/ They expect to welcome back Allahyar Sayyadmanesh to their squad following injury. At his pre-match press conference, head coach Liam Rosenior confirmed midfielder Ozan Tufan is fine to face the Robins, while left-back Rúben Vinagre will also be available if he's able to come through the team's final preparations. Andi is likely to be back for us and TGH is in contention too, of course Rob Dickie is serving a one match ban so will be missing. BBC take on the Tigers: It's difficult to nail down exactly what Liam Rosenior’s first full season in charge of the Tigers will look like. He tightened them up defensively last season and the nucleus of the squad looks decent, but needs further additions. However, ‘where are the goals coming from?’ will be the question of choice. Can Oscar Estupinan match or improve on his tally of 13 from his first year in English football? Rosenior’s preferred style of play has sometimes left those watching feel nervous, and it's not been without its sticky spots, but he remains steadfast that with the right players and continued hard work it will reap rewards. The key man could be Turkey international midfielder Ozan Tufan, who has the ability to play a big part this season if he can find consistency in his performances. Play-offs will obviously be the hope but it might be a season too soon. An improved top-half finish might be more realistic in an often unpredictable league. Officials Referee: James Linington Assistants: Shaun Hudson and Robert Hyde Fourth official: Anthony Backhouse They signed Manchester City's Liam Delap on a season-long loan. The 20-year-old forward had two loan spells in the Championship last season, with Stoke and Preston, scoring four goals in 38 appearances. Also signed defender Ruben Vinagre on a season-long loan from Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon, with the option of a permanent deal. The 24-year-old spent last season at Everton and played four matches before an Achilles injury ended his campaign. They added Brighton and Hove Albion striker Aaron Connolly for an undisclosed fee on a one-year deal. Scott Twine also joined on loan https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/66521703 Pubs The Park View (57 Walton Street, Hull, HU3 6JB) almost directly opposite the stadium car park entrance has always welcomed visiting supporters in the past. This family run pub serves a wide array of beers and has big screens to show live sport as well as housing a burger van outside on match-days. The Walton Street Social Club (243 Walton Street, Hull HU3 6JR) welcomes away fans as well but you will be charged a £1 entry fee. The club serves very good cheap beer in a friendly atmosphere with a separate area serving food (fish and chips at £6) and other refreshments. The Boot Room (354-356 Anlaby Road, Hull, HU3 6NS) is located further down Walton Street on the corner of the junction with Anlaby Road. Although this is where a large number of Hull fans congregate before the games, they have welcomed away fans previously and have a number of big screens showing live sport. There are a number of alternative venues in the city centre, including the local Wetherspoon’s The Admiral of the Humber (1 Anlaby Road, Hull HU1 2NT), The New King Edward Bar (which is right next door to the Admiral of the Humber and located upstairs, 1 Anlaby Road, Hull HU1 2NR), The Punch Hotel (Queen Victoria Square, Hull HU1 3RA) and The Hop and Vine (24 Albion Street, Hull HU1 3TH). Worth seeking out, but not near the ground (a ten minute drive away,) is the Olde White Harte. Dating from the 16th c with Civil War history; carved heavy beams, attractive stained glass, oak panelling and two big inglenooks with frieze of delft tiles, well kept Caledonian, Theakstons and guests from copper-topped counter, 80 or so malt whiskies; old skull (found here in the 19th c and displayed in a Perspex case); children welcome, dogs in bar, heated courtyard, open all day. 25 Silver Street, Hull, East Yorkshire, HU1 1JG, (01482) 326363, https://www.yeoldewhiteharte.com/ For a good pie try the Pie Bakery. Known as ‘The Pie of the Tiger’ since their pies have been sold at KCOM stadium, this bakery produces some of the areas favourite pies. They produce gluten-free, vegan and veggie pies that are well-loved. Their pies are full of tasty tender filling with just the right amount of gravy (and we all know how important that is to Yorkshire folk). They do a lovely cheese cauliflower and broccoli pie, the classic steak and ale pie, as well as a range of other pies and sausage rolls. https://www.examinerlive.co.uk/news/local-news/delicious-homemade-yorkshire-pies-delivered-25473161 Alternatively try the Hull Pie, https://thehullpie.co.uk Come on you Reds!

  10. You heard it here first ? Taylor Gardner-Hickman has signed for Sky Bet Championship side Bristol City on a season-long loan. The Robins have an option to complete the permanent transfer of the 21-year-old midfielder. Albion Academy product Gardner-Hickman has made 60 appearances for the Baggies since his debut in August 2021, scoring two goals. Everyone at the football club would like to wish Taylor the very best of luck for the campaign.

  12. From my WBA following mate I’d be surprised if he leaves – really good young player – But… we are in £ mess so if he has value he might leave. Be a good buy if you get him.
  13. What has been painfully evident is the lack of any creative midfield link-up play this season. Which leaves us with two equally hopeless options: (1) Play nothing balls backwards or square in our own half (2) Punt a long hopeful ball forward To state the obvious neither option works at this level.
  14. Two or three IMO at best, defensive cover, possibly via a loan, hopefully Murphy although he is with an eye on the future and potentially an established creative midfielder. Given NPs preference to do early business and our wage ceiling can’t see anything much than 2-3 more happening and at the same time wouldn’t be surprised if nobody is added!
  15. Immediate thoughts. That was a very underwhelming, poor and frustrating Bristol City performance, both collectively and individually we were second-best throughout the entire game. Our opponents are an ordinary championship team, but they were running the game and in control, not due so much to their own endeavours but largely thanks to our wholly inept performance. We consistently failed to look after the ball, our passing and distribution was embarrassing (our pass completion data will be telling) and our intensity, press, energy and drive practically nonexistent! There were two recurring themes when we had the ball. Firstly, we either passed it square or backwards in our own half or around the half way line in a very pedestrian manner which meant creating absolutely nothing and secondly, we resorted to launching a very hopeful, long ball forward, which in the majority of cases was either inaccurate or quickly and easily snuffed out by Birmingham. In fact their second goal resulted from exactly that scenario, I think it was Naismith trying to play a long ball forward which was easily intercepted and resulted in Brum breaking and adding a second goal. It was actually painful to watch at times and I am very disappointed by that performance. I don’t mind the City losing, but I do mind when we lose without performing. We didn’t have a single attempt on goal, nor did we ever look particularly dangerous, creative or in the ascendency. Without wishing to be dramatic it was one of the poorest performances I can recall under Pearson’s stewardship.
  16. First half thoughts we have been sloppy throughout, the player with the ball has usually had no forward options and our distribution has been poor, they have looked stronger / hungrier. James and Pring the two positives.
  17. Ephraim Yeboah is on the bench today, he was was born and raised in Italy, but moved to Bristol with his family as a child. In August 2021, Yeboah, along with teammate Elijah Morrison, were recruited by Bristol City from the Bristol Inner City Football Academy in Easton. In June 2023, Yeboah began training with the first team squad and finished second behind Ayman Benarous in the Bristol City pre-season fitness SDS test. In July, he was included in the first-team squad on the pre-season training camp to Austria and signed a three-year professional contract with the club. He made his professional debut for us in the EFL Cup at home against Oxford United in a 5-1 win earlier this month.
