  1. hee hee, this might be my most favourite OTIB thread ever. as we all hide behind our alias usernames and hurl mud at everyone at BCFC and anyone's opinion. Me, I am underwhelmed by it all. The sacking, the candidates and the potential Manning. There's a slim chance that Steve has got it right. very slim.
  2. For the record I wouldn’t be unhappy with Liam Rosenior. (BTW I have said this before too) intelligent articulate. also high risk but isn’t any young coach?
  3. Excellent and balanced analysis @Harry. He could be good, but it seems like he will need to adapt unless it’s a complete rebuild of the squad. This appointment could be peak Lansdown. I.e. opposing the complete philosophy of the prior coaching team and less than ideal fit of players we currently have. Good job we have a nest egg. And patience.
  4. Last night I met some ITK witches in the woods on the Mendips. They've been speaking with all those coaches and managers who have crossed to the other side. They very clearly stated that Steve has made a request to them to source the late Graham Taylor's DNA and clone him for the vacant "Head Coach" role at BCFC.
  5. Thank you. Next. 25 page possible Head Coach thread please.
  6. At some point a manager who wins something has to win something. He may not have won something before. It doesn't mean that they won't win anything in the future. Is automatic promotion in second place winning - nope. It's coming second.
  7. no no and no again. can't stand the man.
  8. After a rigorous process either Eustace turned down BCFC or BCFC ruled out Eustace - I know which I would go for.
  9. In the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king. or they are from Berkeley.
  10. It’s nepotism. Pure and simple and it’s pathetic and childlike.
  11. Through the 80s was my “peak city” watching experience. Pretty much every home game during that time. So obvs, Cooper and Jordan hold a special place in my memories. Then I went to Uni, moved to London, SA and finally back to Somerset in 2017. TBH, I’ve lost my enthusiasm for attending games while I’ve been away. And for me, alarm bells started to ring when Coppell left after 2 games in charge. That’s pretty much unheard of in the world of football. I was actually quite excited about him having a good run. Totally gutted about the Pearson debacle though. Reading between the lines it was telegraphed. And he isn’t stupid enough to not realise and he very cannily called the owners out in the media. Who then fired him. Alarm bells ringing again. My nephew is in the academy, my brother and his boys are ST holders. I could easily go. I just have found it so uninspiring. Teams come to our home ground expecting to turn us over and we duly oblige (TBF NP was addressing that). All I can hope is that Steve is selling up and we can rebuild with a new manager with the same ethos as Pearson. Else it’s all in vain and we will stay little Bristol City.
  12. This quote "Luton got promoted with a squad with far less talent than we have in our squad," owner Steve Lansdown, Jon's father, said publicly in the summer From the Sky article referenced above is all you need to know about how clueless Steve is regarding footballing matters. I've been done with them for years. They're shambolic, have paper-thin governance as @ExiledAjax pointedly points out multiple times. They rule as if they are kings of the club. Problem is, that a king needs advisors - and where are they? I may need to eat my words. And good god, if they get this right I will gladly do so. But we've been here and done that - several times - Cyclical Steve. And I'm done with their pettiness and sense of entitlement.
  13. He hasn't scored 46 goals in 12 games.
  14. On this culture point - it is EXTREMELY difficult to create, and yes it totally depends on the leadership team. I work in a company that changed the CE last year, they were recruited from within the business. We're now undergoing a restructure. Whether intended or not, the culture is shot to bits and the company values have gone with it. So what I am trying to say is that culture is dependent on leadership and unless there is continuity in the ETHOS and CULTURE of that leadership, be they internal or external then it will break down pretty quickly. When Sir Alex retired from managing at United, look at the chaos. They are still in total flux. And Fergie looms large still in the directors box. For success, look at Brentford and Brighton. For failure, well, look almost everywhere else.
  15. I think for me it's about continuity and what we want to achieve as a club. Lansdown, for all his billions has taken us literally nowhere in footballing terms over his tenure. Granted, we have a nice ground and some great facilities in the HPC. But TBC I don't care much for shiny toys, I'd like a bit of ambition and nous on the footballing side of things. Which Lansdown doesn't really have. He flip flops about all the ****ing time. This, and the lack of accountability to him by board and footballing staff makes the whole thing absolutely laughable. I've not liked how SL manages the footballing side for ages. It's tinpot and shambolic. He doesn't communicate. In my judgement he doesn't like being challenged, has a massive ego which needs to be massaged and it's time to go.
  16. This is winning mentality. Michael Jordan, who was a level above all other players in the NBA, was a complete and utter perfectionist. Probably the most talented sportsperson of all time. He pushed his team mates to be the best they could be, he was a bit of an arse. And he knew that they weren't as good as him. If they put in 100% and went the extra mile, that earnt MJs respect.
  17. Jordan Henderson. Does he need to be in the team, just to pull other players under his wing? It’s an odd statement from Southgate - could he do what Flintoff did for the cricketers. He sure as hell don’t need the
  18. Yorkshire streets must be covered with rubbish. Not a bin to be found anywhere.
  19. Now. I’m gonna get pelters for this, so my tin hat is on. If he isn’t the next England manager (should he want it of course) then who is better. Total turn around at Newcastle since he’s been there.
  20. I agree with @GrahamC, we need a systemic and structural overhaul of the club. The board and executives are puppets for Steve. And Steve for all his wealth isn't very good at communicating what his vision is for the club to the fans. So we all jump to conclusions - let's do a Brighton, Brentford, Luton, Swindon...basically any club that's similar or smaller in size to us that's been in the PL or has won promotion. Steve swings like a pendulum. You need consistency and stability. Our current tactic is to develop young players and sell them for tens of millions to Bournemouth, while not replacing said players. How in any way is this inspiring for fans?
  21. It be gurt lush round here me babber. @BigKiwi, welcome to our crazy city and even more crazy football club.
