Just seen that Ipswich are 13/1 to be relegated. So apparently less likely to go down than us (6/1), Swansea (7/1), Coventry (10/1), West Brom (10/1), Millwall (11/1)…. Surely worth a cheeky fiver considering they didn’t even win the league!

By definition it’s a competitive fixture as you can’t play trialists. Your players have to be professionally registered. So while it’s clearly not a trophy of any great magnitude, to call it pre-season is being disingenuous.

As great of a job that O'Neil did, and I think it is ******* bonkers and unfair to sack him, you would imagine someone like Iraiola has a 'higher ceiling' in how he could progress the club. He's played consistently at the top level and been managed by some exceptional managers. Of course there are no guarantees, and just having played under some good managers is not enough, but it's presumably a calculated gamble. I'm gutted for O'Neil though and he has been very hard done by. Hopefully he can find a good job soon.

I can't imagine we would be in a better position than we are now if we would have appointed Gerrard. I was very unimpressed with his work at Villa - the improvement under Emery is unbelievable.

What even suggests it's possible for a top-level (or indeed any) club to form a 'dynasty' in today's age? I don't think ANYBODY could go there and do such a thing.

Solskjaer at the moment reminds me a bit of Holden - all the respect in the world for a thoroughly decent human being, but out of their depth in their position as manager.

Not really an accurate comparison - people go to the pub to drink (and sometimes watch football), whilst people go to the stadium to watch football (and sometimes drink).

We haven't beaten them since 2012, and we have a poor record against Warnock sides. Also, Cardiff have started the season very well and have claimed some impressive results this season. Obviously we have a chance but it will certainly be a difficult game. However, the feeling should we will will be absolutely amazing
