Not Striker.
For me he would be so much better wider and his pretty good now he help the team out.
I see your logic, I think he's good enough to play in either position. Last season he was unplayable at times, got plenty of goals and assists based on minutes played, but for whatever reason he looks low on confidence. I'm confidence he'll get his mojo back and will be banging goals in sooner or later.

Wide of a front 3 isn't a winger though is it?

So he's not unhappy and definitely leaving then? Fantastic performance, didn't look like he'd been out at all. Hopefully he's got another 90 in his legs saturday.

Yeah, I hadn't even realised that the second goal was in question of offside.
Photos seem to show that it was, just, offside.
Not exactly scandalous, but a poor call nonetheless.
I'd still rather see a a decision like that go against us now & again, than have VAR involved.
Who said it does..?
Any part is sufficient.
Just offside it wasn't even close, terrible decision yet again.

Which decisions..?
The photos I've seen show the ball wasn't outside the box when the keeper picked it up.
The second goal was offside.

As much as I enjoy a dig at the ref, neither him or his assistant are going to see that. VAR might have helped if they’d had this angle, the Robins TV angles were really inconclusive.
20000 people in the stadium managed to see it though, I was 50 yards away and was convinced it was handball, unfortunately the man that matters decided he hadn't seen it.

Was the second goal onside? Lots of people in the Lansdown asking for a flag
I was in line with it and it looked absolutely miles offside, lino on that side was an absolute disgrace all game as was the ref.

Did people really want NP out?
Plenty (including myself) were questioning his tactics - particularly sitting back on a lead and letting last minute goals in - but I don’t remember seeing any serious calls for him to be sacked.
I must admit that I’m only an occasional visitor here though so I may have missed some threads……….There were quite a few.

Though this distribution was bloody excellent, and he was better commanding his box second half (after you’d written this).
Yeah he was definitely better second half apart from maybe the Williams chance that was cleared off the line. I thought taking Conway off actually helped him, as Tommy just sat on top of him and got in his way from all the set pieces first half. Better team won though in the end, no complaints.

Their keeper looks dodgy to me, doesn't command his area. Need to throw crosses at him at every opportunity.

It will actually benefit me because I’m on holiday and so would have missed the game, and can hopefully make the rearranged date. And I’ll still get to see some football this weekend (Lazio v Verona).
I’m not sure I agree about weather related postponements, which are sometimes notoriously late in the day. But I take the point about this being in our control unlike the weather. But it always was a distinct possibility that it would happen when the Queen died so in that sense it’s not entirely unexpected.
Clearly divides opinion though - and as someone who frequents the politics forum especially it’s good to see that it’s not all dividing in the way it usually does!!
Enjoy your holiday.

To be honest, no, not really.
I’ve no strong feeling either way about the decision, although it hasn’t come as a great surprise. The possibility that there’d be a postponement was raised on here within minutes, literally, of the announcement of the Queen’s death.
But it’s a postponed match. It happens. The weather, international call-ups, a pitch falling apart. Games get called off. When we were in the lower leagues it would happen several times a season!
What happened with football during covid was a real issue for peoples livelihoods and mental well being. But one game getting called off - that just feels like a bit of an over reaction, sorry. The decision doesn't really affect me either, I'll just go and play golf/spend time with the family. I've just tried to look at the cancellation from the point of view of others.
I'm sorry but I disagree with you, and I think it will have a massive impact on thousands of people up and down the country. Like others have said, people will be told they're not needed to work, food will go to waste and the list goes on. Yes you're right the weather can cause cancellations but people usually have a good idea if the weather will be bad or not, whereas these cancellations were just thrown on clubs/businesses the day before the event, like it or lump it.

Rather than calling it mourning, I’d call it a mark of respect.
Is missing 22 people kicking a bag of wind around a football field that big a deal really??
It's not just about the game itself, it's about the effect it will have on people's livelihoods, mental well being etc. Surely you can see that.

I would wait to see why before making comments like above
We already know that it is a massive stretch on the police etc around the country, the last thing they needed was needing to allocate additional resources to a sporting event
Just look at it like it pissed down and the ground is flooded
We will get over it, people will be able to get refunds, yeah is a small inconvenience but not the end of the world
So the small businesses set to lose thousands will all get refunds yes? The extra food that has been ordered to cater for these events will all get refunded? Joke of a decision.

Pleasure to watch Alex Scott that half, unbelievable footballing brain on him. Should be at least 2 up though.

Does anyone know what channel it's on for IPTV?

Its obvious NP finds ' modern' football and how it's run a complete farce and ball ache.
He could answer the questions differently...but he chooses to show his real feelings about how football is run now.
He knows exactly what's going on...down to who's available, fitness, agent contacts, interest in players, and a plan in place if we sell, and who we can bring in.
He just doesn't want to play the game. He sees it as a pantomime. The transfer window, last day transfers, the press and media living it...making a drama. He knows it's bollox...and can't be arsed to play the game for the media. However...behind closed doors he has too...otherwise you can't run a club...it's just how it is.
When he says he's not a physio re Semenyo...it's bollox...of course he knows. When he calls out the media as getting excited about late transfers in the window...he sees the pantomime...however...don't say fans love it, there are plenty like him who hate it. You get to a similar age and you see the bullshit.
He loves the way Bakes plays...we all do...but let's face it, It's probably best Bakes retires regardless of injury. I love how Bakes plays...but he'd be sent off most games now. It's gone soft.
NP is like many of us. He's got a love hate relationship with football.
So much of it is bollox...but to still be involved you have to put up with it.
Transfer deadline day...all the young ens sat up with pizzas Walking themselves silly over late deals...it's the equivalent of love island...whilst NP like many is rolling his eyes at the bullshit....but sadly behind closed doors having to work with it and comply. How frustrating...
Bakes would be sent off most weeks as the games gone soft? He was literally playing 9 months ago, has it changed that much in 9 months?

Why was that a red for Sunderland last night, even a yellow would have been harsh!
Really? I honestly thought it was a clear red. Last man, stopped a clear goalscoring opportunity. You could tell by the look in the defenders face he was off.

Not dangerous. Not two footed. Yeah ok.
No idea why anyone would defend this sort of tackle. It’s dangerous and was highly intentional, fully deserved a red and he’s basically let his team mates down.
As for Atkinson, Luton player’s foot is miles from the ball, Atkinson moves his right leg toward the Luton player and then falls. No foul for me.
Ref had a great view of it and clearly saw it as Atkinson initiating contactYou said two footed with studs up, can't see his studs up from that pic.
-
From what Harry said I was expecting much worse from the highlights, was neither two footed or studs up, yellow for both and get on with it.

Could anyone tell me if the flag day is suitable for children? My friend is in 2 minds about taking his 9 year old daughter along, but he's worried it might be a bit to boisterous.

I thought everyone said their was no moaning at referees or diving? Literally been loads.

I watched the ladies football last night, and thoroughly enjoyed it.
They were all professionals...some semi maybe on the Austrian side??? representing their countries, and none of them seemed to feel the need to shout, scream and roll about in pathetic agony in order to gain any sort of advantage.
It was a breath of fresh air...the way the game should be played!
Unlike the women's world cup in 2019 which had several unsavoury incidents.
