  1. Yes, I thought this after I'd posted - they get there contracts paid up so arguably don't have any loss of earnings to claim...unless you wanted to argue that you'd done such a good job, they would have extended your contract!
  2. I've never seen a football manager file for wrongful dismissal before but if they've both agreed to a 5 year plan and he's achieved it in 3, he should be all over it!
  3. Bingo. Superbly put. This is one of the most annoying things, we almost had it, and not even that long ago! That set up should have been the foundation to push on. When Gould left for the ECB (not a problem with that, he loves his cricket, not sure anyone with that level of interest in a sport would turn down the ECB), we even appointed an equally experienced CEO in his place in Phil Alexander! And it then went tits up. Alexanders leaving was always a bit weird, can only surmise Lansdown started meddling where he shouldn't and Alexander, understandably, didn't like it? Anyway, we are where we are but you get the feeling something has got to give.
  4. I think you're right, if the person was talented enough and willing enough to 'play the game'. I do think, no matter how good you are, there will always be a ceiling with the current structure (which I find increasingly bizarre) and incumbents (less said the better) though. I just can't see their willingness to be influenced bending too much! The value of the work Richard Gould did is becoming increasingly evident day by day! Dam his love of cricket!
  5. Pretty sure I bought a firework called a Flaming Juall from that place down by the M32 last weekend.
  6. I don't agree with the sacking of Nige, quite frankly its embarrassing but dealing with the situation we're in, looking at who is out there, I'd go Eustace. Played good football with Kidderminster, had some success and reached the playoffs (albeit much lower division) Has experience at international level with Ireland. For some reason I like managers that get themselves out there and do this Did well with Birmingham. Widely touted to finish bottom, he got them performing really well. All whilst dealing with off pitch nonsense which shows he can shut out the noise, focus on the football, connect with the players and get results. He might need that experience here if there is fallout from the sacking....
  7. I think for 'modern football', we now have to read 'business' if you get my meaning. These are very much business transactions, purely financial, nothing about the football for the UK clubs. There are rules and regulations that have to be met and this is a way of meeting them. Morally, a complete and utter shambles ?
  8. I don't think there will be any sell on clauses as his contract with us is ending so we aren't selling him and therefore can't put any clauses in the sale to ensure his new club give us a percentage of any future sale. If you get me.
  9. Tony Dinning for me. Great engine on him. Prior to the permanent move of course. Once we were actually paying his contract, I don't think he moved out of the centre circle.
  10. I heard a Ghanian football reporter on 5Live on the way home yesterday. He was saying the Ghanian fans we're getting a bit hacked off that the coach liked to change the team every game so....you never know!
  11. There was a bit of a wishy washy report kicking around that he was included in a 50 odd man longlist that Southgate was going to whittle down to 26. No real danger of him being included I don't think.
  12. That is so far inside the box he must have had a valid reason for awarding the free kick. Contact started outside the box?! I'm clutching at straws...
