Looks like we’ve gone for a flat 442 with Scott and COD on the wings. Bit nervous in CM with Bakinson / Massengo but there aren’t many other options.
Feels like a bit of a waste to play Scott but not start with Wells and Weimann to be honest.
It’s all relative though isn’t it. We are 19th but closer to the play offs than relegation. The actual numerical position in the table is fairly meaningless as it’s relative to the position of the other teams.
His failure to get the best out of Wells is exacerbating the issue. He could be the striker we need if he had some confidence, but it was sucked out of him by not starting at the start of the season. Terrible man management in my view.
Not going to lie, starting to have my doubts about NP now. We are definitely worse than we were under the majority of Johnson’s tenure, and for a lot of Holden’s.
It’s not the same situation, we’d lost two games against two of the three best teams in the league and should have beaten Forest had we not suffered from our psychological issues at home. I don’t expect another losing run for a while now.
Are Barnsley’s team similar in personnel to last season’s play off team? I know they lost Mowatt who was influential but I don’t know much else about their squad. Either way, they were a shambles compared to how they played when they beat us 1-0 after Holden left earlier this year.
Very happy for Moyes after everything he has been through. Arguably a better achievement doing it with West Ham now than Everton before because the levels are much higher in the Premier League these days in my opinion.
