I suspect he probably means a few years earlier - 83/84?

On the way back up from the depths of 1982 and IIRC I think this game sent us to top of div 4, with the first 10k+ crowd in a few years.

City are back, 'ello, ello! Let the (comparatively) good times roll.

yep 83 84 season pretty sure it was a tuesday night 10,000 crowd felt like 20,000

It was watching City in those dire days that made it what it is for me. I was nine for my first game against West Ham in 76/77, and suffered relentlessly as we dropped in the years that followed, surrounded in school by bandwagon Liverpool and Man Ure fans. Siege mentality is correct, but it just made you love and fight for your team even more.

I vaguely remember a win against Bury (in division four I'm sure) where I think we won 1-0, thanks to an Alan Nicholas strike in torrential rain. The pure elation for me ranks alongside 4-2 at Trumpton and the Man Ure cup game. Tough times that made BCFC what it is for me...

    COYR!!!

Beating York City 1. nil felt like winning the World cup .

The sensible ones over there will know that the big clubs get 1st dibs on the quality talent because they have the money. Then the good clubs get 2nd dibs, the average clubs 3rd dibs.

The poor clubs get the loan signings that are effectively leftover scraps off the dining table as the window closes and the system shakes itself down.

It is in effect just like footy at school when the team captains took turns in picking their sides.

I will leave you to decide for yourself where Rovers fit into this hierarchy but to give you a hint they are about as high up the pecking order as I was at school! ☹

were you the fat kid ?

That’s a fairly standard procedure, to proceed at risk.

I am more than happy to take the piss but I’d be amazed if a structure of similar height doesn’t get formally approved in the end.

If they wait until it was officially approved they’d lose a lot of the summer.

It will still look shit, though.

it will be funny as fnuck if they don't get planning .
