  2. There was a great doc, about some gentlemen of the road who lived along that line, in some decade. Recall some real inresting characters.

  6. A rovers fan i know said one of the games they took a real hiding, was when they got knocked out the fa cup, By a non leauge team under francis. I cant remember who it was, think it was outskirts of london. He said a london united mob turned up for them that day.
  7. Can recall the 2nd leg of the freight rover against aldershot. They had a fan who favoured the skinhead look, in the away end. He must have been aldershots only thug in those days. He took some stick from the singing in block b that day. After we scored our 2nd, he snapped and the old bill carted him out the away end!
  8. That was a game and a half, when he scored in that 6 pointer against coventry.
  9. That first game of the season when lavin lost his head. I worked with a kid, not a hooligan, had one to many, cut a long story short, ended up in court drunk disorderly. I cant recall how many got arrested that day, pretty sure was double figures. Anyway, he was getting phone calls for months at home, from reading fans. quote, wanting to arrange something for the home leg. Telephone tough guys.
  10. Malcolm alison. he had some good coats. I just read tony blair has been knighted? Lord anthony.......
  11. Lets be honest here, theres no sentiment in football. Joe put a few tasty tackles in. Do you think he had any sentiment?
  12. Yes come on, stop this booing. Ever time a ex comes back, lets give a polite ripple of applause. This is ashton gate, not the chelsea flower show. On our day, our crowd can affect players.
  13. That will cheer him up no end. Losing his job, and he gets coated off.
  14. Whenever we went to a away game in the midlands. My grandad would always ask a steward, how far to the beach mate?
  15. One of the best songs of the 90s, single cover was on weston beach. Roll with it oasis.
  16. Our ex midfielder david tong, drives for premier cabs in blackpool. You can ask for him by name.
  17. First time i went there for the weekend, was about 94. The area near the station was very diffrent then. Was nine quid a night in a b and b then. End of the street was 7!
  18. That scottish bar in the sidestreets near bloomfield. If you put ten p in the bucket, you were allowed to smoke indoors. He had two fine issues from the council from behind the bar. The bucket went towards the next fine he said, That was when brooker scored in the last minute. That was the wettest weekend in blackpool, in a august since records began.
  19. One of the best books ever, the one on the segers, bruce grob, match fixing case. Cracking read.won sports book of the year. Also covers floodlights being nobbled by a gambling ring in the 90s. Bruce grob, floodlights going out,,,, sounds vaugley familiar.
  20. Glyn riley ended up in the missionary position on top of ray cashley that day, for one of our goals!
  21. In my lifetime, the first bristol derby on motd, i recall, was beating rovers 3 0, first season up under tc. Dont recall seeing any other third div games. Highlights that was, and they didnt show every game in those days. Can recall a second divsion game being live on tv, and i think that was man city, chelsea?
  22. That season, roberts and cureton were upfront, the whole of the williams was singing city reject at roberts. He looked well miffed. They had a kid on loan from the gunners in goal, that day, think was a sunday morning.
  23. Bobby reid, if south of the river isnt claiming butland, fees could be closer than i thought. What was the kids name, went to walsall scored from the half way line? The goal was on tv a lot.
  24. Andy johnson, was a brislington kid too i think. If it came down to transfer fees north vs south bristol, be a landslide in souths favour id wager. Bobby ford went for a few quid too once. Who commanded the biggest fee north of the river?
