  1. Given attendance chat; it seems they've sold out their Derby allocation of 3100 tickets:

Personally, I think the attendance number was decent; certainly not "embarrassing." Though as Peter said I think Exeter bringing 1200 is more impressive. Rovers are probably a 10th-13th best fanbase as ranked in L1 (note: maybe not this season because this season L1 is packed with a couple decently sized clubs); they'll give good attendances and good performances on big games, but the issue is it dips a lot on smaller games and we, as well as most other Championship clubs don't really do that. But if they ever do get their supposed stadium over the line it'll be interesting to see if the Mem was really that poor a group or if they've just reached their ceiling.

Did anyone predict that, let alone call anyone “delusional” for saying that they weren’t going to definitely finish bottom?

Again, apart from pointing out that he was injured when he arrived did anyone say it was the worst transfer decision ever? Seem to remember City fans saying he was a decent player?

Anyway, it’s good to hear from you again after you didn’t seem to post during Rovers run of 8 or 9 games without a win.

I don't usually take the time to respond to such obvious bullshit. Anyone can go back through the thread; but the narrative coming on this was very obviously "the only reason Rovers got promoted is because of their loan players Anderson, Taylor etc.; they are going up to a League with significant quality this season and they will really struggle and go down." In addition, the Coburn transfer was seen as a hilariously poor signing because of his injury; when I tried to say "he's injured but once his injury is gone he might be okay for that level" I was treated with  a couple "uNdErCoVeR sAg" morons like yourself. Thankfully most people on the thread realise that having nuanced opinions on teams and players is perfectly normal. For example, Rovers seemed quite quiet during the game today; but for a club on their position and stature I thought that their following for a game late on a weekday was pretty good, and just in case this makes me an undercover sag. I'll refer you to obvious Sag Dom Howson, all these bloody sags; infiltrating football teams!

As for the final comments. Personally, I haven't followed them too much this season since the transfer window ended, but they were on Sky tonight so I watched them. It seems a bit odd to know that they were on a 8 or 9 game run without a win, I had no idea of that; smells a bit like you're a Gas fan to me...

If you want me to show comments, I can; but I'd suggest we save both of our times on that issue!

  3. Sags looking quite good (Maybe I wasn't "utterly delusional" for thinking they weren't guaranteed 24th this season!). Been particularly impressed by their number 10, who apparently is top for G/A in L1. Coburn been very good too (maybe it wasn't the worst transfer decision). I imagine their 10 might get bought in January, but it'll be interesting to see how they do past that point; seems like they've got quite a few who are decent at scoring at that level.

    Seriously nobody on here cares.

If you want to blow smoke up the arse of anything connected to the blue few do it on arse chat

Clearly people do since me saying "it'll be interesting to see how their loan players do, could do well or could do badly" is such a controversial take

No it won't, does anyone really give a flying **** if they were the best or the worst players in the third tier

I am intrigued how you have so much knowledge on the tent dwellers

I think seeing how football players do  is an interesting thing to see; Anderson for instance was loaned out to them in League 2 and is now getting opportunities in the Newcastle first team. I find that interesting, I would like to apologise for finding a sport that I enjoy interesting though, clearly you just follow the results for City and know nothing about any of the other clubs in the world…

I got it from quick google searches and seeing what the fans of the parent clubs had to say about these players, and the fact I checked out and remembered the loan players they signed from last season and details about them. It is not hard and it does not require extensive knowledge to find out Connor Taylor had almost no experience at that level before signing for them, you can find it on his Wikipedia.

But alas, if you know almost anything about Rovers past “Rovers bad hur dur!!” and act like their fans do to us rather than not be stupid you are automatically a secret Rovers fan. It’s quite funny really, if I was one I’d just make an account on here, there’s multiple on here anyway; but it’s a lot more interesting and controversial I imagine to come up with a hypothetical that anyone who gives them credit and doesn’t just say “every player they sign must be dogshit otherwise they wouldn’t sign for them” and then turn around when a player with all of the signs that they were going to do well and look confused; because I’m not stupid.

it’s funny, one of the most often pieces of banter and abuse I get from their side is the existence of this forum, more specifically, this thread, and I defend it; I don’t particularly care about it, but if I post on it, I’m not going to act and say stupid things, frankly, because that’s not me; so if you want to go “all players that sign for Rovers must be awful for their level” and then look like a moron when they do things like get the most wins of any of the 92 in 2022, go ahead, but I won’t be saying stupid things like that

Back on to give them some deserved credit....

Even knows what the Sags are lacking in their team.

    Well done fellow red....

Notoriously “these loan players are unproven, it’s hard to know if they’ll be shit or good” is credit that necessarily makes you a Gashead, do you think before you speak? If not, maybe you’re the Sag…

I thought he wanted 6 signings?

I had to look up the 3 they’ve borrowed, the Burnley defender’s only league experience is with Barrow, the Fulham player has had loans at Colchester & Hibs & never seems to have established a settled place in the side at either, the Boro lad has a decent record but they announced yesterday he’s out injured for the next 5 weeks, which means he’s going to play mid October at the very earliest?

It'll be interesting to see; the Burnley lad seems to be pretty well rated, and the Fulham lad is described as "quick," whether that's just quick or quick and terrible it's hard to know. It's a chance for those players to prove themselves; Anderson for instance had zero league experience, whilst Connor Taylor's only league experience before Rovers was 1 game on loan in the Northern Premier League Premier Division and 3 games on loan at Chester in the National League North, now he's a first team regular. That's the point with these kinda players, hard to know how it'll turn out. Boro lad could end up being the worst or the best of the three. Injury seems a troublesome sign but then again from their perspective their guy Collins I think is one of the top goalscorers in League 1, then there's Marquis who although has fallen off on his day seems a good player, from their perspective I reckon they expect to hold out decently. I think they seem to lack a proper left-back and a player that drives forward, hard to know really where they'll finish largely because League One looks really tough this season, there's 8-10 really good teams for that standard and a big gap between them and the rest.

Out of curiosity, why do you only seem to show up when you think it's time to give them credit? Or have I missed all of your posts mocking them?

I hate Man U, and I have Man U supporting mates, but I wouldn't go on a Man Citys fans forum to give them some sort of credit when it is due.

Maybe just me, but it certainly seems bizarre.

Well as I said I tend to use the other forum for largely City stuff; I mainly use this for the Dustbin thread. It's just I give them fair dues, it's not necessarily that I give them credit all of the time, it's just I treat them fairly. For example, the other day I went down to the pub to watch the football with one of my Gas mates to watch the Chelsea v Spurs game and he brought up that Rovers (I think) had the most wins out of any team in the 92 in 2022, I think I can say that's quite an impressive achievement. Now, you bring up a decent comparison in United and City, firstly you're not a City fan, the issue I have there is United and City are still far more competitive than Rovers and City are, in the 90s I didn't use to treat them like this cus we were a lot more equal. But at the end of the day we're just a far bigger club and a far better team, the gap in terms of league places is quite low at the moment compared to the past couple years; but in reality the infrastructure, the ownership, the club, the fanbase; we are just absolutely clear of them. City and United are still relatively similar in the grand scheme of things. So if there's ever a time where we play in the same league and are competitive again then I'll probably roll back. At the end of the day they have lower expectations than us, so I'll give them credit for things that if it were City I'd be furious if we didn't do, but that's because we have higher expectations than them. My older posts are a mix of similar posts and posts lambasting them (them using the term victimless crime was a disgrace).

You don't really get the point of this thread do you? :dunno:

If the point of this thread is you're more likely to say that the gas paid off the opposition and the referee and all the officials to rig a game than you are to say "they probably won fairly" then that seems a bit silly to me. Like I said I give them credit when they deserve it (rarely) and don't when they don't (most of the time)

As I remember it, his wife called the police saying her husband had assaulted her, the police arrive and find her with head injuries. It's fairly damning BUT circumstantial and there is no evidence apart from his and hers, unless some  friends who I think were present, also are prepared to testify.

The interesting thing is what happens if she has to give evidence because if he has hit her and he she says he didn't, she's committing perjury. Of course the judge will have to allow that he's coerced her into changing her story and of course coercion and controlling behaviour are so much more widely recognised these days.

We can't really take the high-ground BCFC having employed Danny Simpson and I have no particular hatred of JB but all I can say that if he did lay even a finger on his wife, he deserves to go down and to lose his job.

Sorry Simon mate this clearly makes you a Gashead in disguise can't be saying anything not entirely critical of them!

I have absolutely no problem at all with 15ers posting on here - there are several who do that are very welcome, but it should be done in plain sight - without any attempt at deception.

If you go back through my posts you'll see I've mentioned numerous times why I comment mainly on this thread, I mainly use Not606 for regular City posting. But course saying "oh the bloke clapping the tackle can't have been Barton" or "Barton actually talks about Pearson positively here" it's met with "WELL U MUST BE A SAG." Numerous City fans have pointed out their issues with this thread, I don't particularly care about it but I think, as I've explained numerous times, that I try to be a bit of a devil's advocate and give them credit where it's due. Mean this fully and sincerely, maybe grow up a bit?

It's kinda funny, took a break from this server cus the last time I got accused of being a sag simply because I said "hey, maybe Joey Barton and Wael aren't engaged in full-scale corruption and maybe they won their game against Scunthorpe fairly" and the response was that I was obviously a dirty sag who was undercover, which is obviously silly

You sure you’re a red, Matty?

Ah yes pointing out that at first glance in real time it's possible someone could think their midfielder didn't deserve a red and it didn't make it "like North Korea" makes me automatically a ****** sag doesn't it. I watched the post-match interview cus everyone was going on about what Barton said, and I noticed he's in black and the guy's in white there so it's obvs not Barton.

  13. 1 hour ago, GrahamC said:

Unsurprisingly the bloke who reports for them in the Post said Whelan’s challenge wasn’t a red.

The BBC report says he was very lucky to avoid one, it’s basically North Korean reporting from him.

This is a silly comment, Frost said at first glance it doesn't seem like a red, which seems a fair comment to make as he doesn't go in studs up

Must be great to be a football coach, who has played the game at the top flight, then take the pee out of other managers who haven't, and call them PE Teachers. But to then get schooled by said PE Teachers takes some sort of special football coach. What does that say about Bartons ability?

Still, a load of the poor sags will love all that sort of talk from him.

I mean tbf there's only so much you can do. Portsmouth are clearly a far better team than the sags; so Barton could be better than them and still lose simply due to quality of the team.

Interesting analysis considering they finished 24th and bottom with the same manager just 12 months ago. They may not go back down, but they WILL be in a relegation fight, of that I am very sure.

I don't necessarily agree, I don't think just because you got relegated with a manager from a league, then get promoted that automatically means you can't do much better. See for example Dyche who got relegated with Burnley, took them back up and was in the Prem for 6 or so years. Or for a more specific example. Clarke took them down, took them back up, then took them up again, then was looking to be playoff-ish before we bought Taylor, and that was essentially with very little in means of additional transfers in that period. The league one team was essentially just the Conference team + a few. It'll be interesting to see what deals they do, but realistically, I think they could do mid-table in that division next season. I'd be very surprised if they were definitives for relegation. From what I've watched of League One this season, minus the big names, the standard is really not that much higher than League 2. I imagine they'll finish somewhere in the 13th-18th category. Although this is assuming they keep Barton
