No it isn't, particularly for the price you state. Are you part of the B'muff negotiating team?

No, I just recognise that we’re in a time of financial difficulty and that holding off until the summer will reduce his value. In summer 2022, a £10m offer would have been underwhelming but AS has been out of form most of the season, he hasn’t signed a new deal and selling is in the best interests of the club. Of course, if we can get more then great but we shouldn’t jeopardise cashing in at a time where his value is unlikely to increase without a new deal.

  2. As much as it'll be gutting to see him go, this is the right time to sell.

Even if his form at the end of the season matches the form at the end of last season, a player in his last 12 months is always going to be a cut price deal.

Whilst we haven’t got Semenyo’s physical attributes in the rest of the squad, we’re getting the best out of Wells and we’ve had the emergence of Conway and Bell which has really boosted our attacking options.

We’re 6 points above the drop and we have enough strike power to get through this season with Championship status.

Of course, maximise the sale price but realistically, £10m (hopefully with a sell on) would be really good business for us.

5 games ago when Semenyo was on a goal drought, I’d have took it in a heartbeat.

Whether it’s Bournemouth or Burnley, the move will give Semenyo a taste of Premier League football and enhance his international career, all the best to him.

  3. I remember the days of being buzzing when Bristol City’s Leroy Lita had made it into the England u21 squad and thinking of it as a big thing for Bristol City.

Not so long ago, we signed Jay DaSilva from Chelsea after he captained England U21’s. Now we’ve got Semenyo who’s just played at the World Cup. Recent former players Diedhiou and Morrell also played in Qatar.

The standard of football at our level is constantly improving and it’s arguably success in itself to have evolved with it, as we have.

We’ve got a stadium to be proud of and the infrastructure to attract and develop top youth players, giving us the foundation to achieve long term success.

  4. The Johnson squad was much more experienced and stronger, it was also superior in terms of strength in depth. Just some names:

    Goalkeepers - Bentley, Maenpaa

Defenders - Baker, Benkovic, Kalas, Wright, DaSilva, Perreira, Hunt, Williams, Vyner

Midfield - Eliasson, Palmer, Nagy, Massengo, Patterson, Smith, Rowe, O’Dowda

Forwards - Afobe, Wells, Diedhiou, Weimann, Semenyo

How much we could do with some of those players here now

  5. I think it’s the right decision to stick with him going into the Euros, it’s only 18 months away and there’s enough positives to feel we are heading in the right direction and believe we genuinely have a chance.

That being said, to stay beyond the Euros, GS needs to demonstrate that he can beat the big teams. He needs to demonstrate that he can make effective in game decisions at the right time to overturn opponents.

  6. I question his decision to join United in the first place.

Ronaldo is a player that expects to be successful, he wants to be the best and that’s respectable.

It was a bad decision for him to join United, they had just finished 3rd but they were massively behind Man City and Liverpool.

For his next move, he now has the decision of whether to go to another continent for money or take a pay cut to be successful in another European league.

Strange timing for this interview. He's thrown his toys out of the pram, but managed to get back into the team, so not sure why he'd now rock the boat YET AGAIN.

Proof it's all about him. He's been an incredible football player, but like everything, all good things come to an end. He obviously can't accept that he isn't 21 anymore and his playing career coming to an end. He's paid an obscene amount of money, I get he's a winner and still wants to play, but should be focusing on helping the younger players, as no doubt they ALL look up to him.

Can't see him playing for Utd ever again after this. How can he?!

It’s the perfect time to construct his bridge out of United, next United games are a week before the January transfer window opens

Its not baffling, it costs, and the industry in the championship doesn't cover it yet.

No team would be better off points wise beyond a very short term. Unless you believe there is a conspiracy v Bristol City refereeing error is chance (luck). Luck is a consistent across all teams, luck occurs in even measure where refereeing errors even out across teams over months and seasons.

So the cost of it being implemented in Scotland has ranged from £67k to £195k per club per season, whilst this isn’t necessarily low cost, it’s small in the grand scheme of the millions at stake in the Championship.

We have had numerous costly decisions wrongly go against us and seemingly no big decisions wrongly in our favour in order to balance out. In the last 3 seasons we’ve been awarded 3 penalties (last one being 6 November 2021) and had 17 awarded against us.

With this considered, whilst there will still be errors, these will be reduced. If errors are due to a reduced standard of refereeing, VAR will provide a much needed aid. If errors are due to an issue against Bristol City, VAR will expose the inappropriate decisions.

  9. I think it’s important to look at the bigger picture when it comes to Naismith. Yes it’s frustrating to see him making costly errors but how much stronger have we looked since we’ve brought him in? His leadership has been a major factor in the improvement we’ve seen.

The goals conceded per game has dropped from 1.67 last season to 1.55 this season. A demonstration of progression.

I hope fellow Reds can get behind him and support him, have faith in the coaching team that they will help to reduce the errors. If he does, we have an absolute gem.

  10. I think he was merely responding to the interviewers question and the comment of January was regarding some of the other players.

Whilst we think about the interest that Semenyo may attract, there's also the likes of HNM, NW and many others with contracts due to expire. We'll do well to get through January with the squad we've got.

That being said, if we're in the mix, we may get some new contracts signed. Or at least be in a position to demand respectable transfer fees with the prospect of promotion prize money within our reach, making value on the pitch greater than settling for cut price transfer fees.
