Always wondered about Naismith-James-Knight midfield. Could that free up Knight who has been a great signing btw, a bit more to maybe get some goals like he did in his early years at Derby.

Although I like James, I've wondered about a Naismith-TGH-Knight midfield. Mainly for the reasons above, but also a better range of passing from the back.

  2. Agreed, there are some areas he could improve in, but unless JL decides to turn the money taps on, I can't look past the fact that only 3 teams have let in fewer goals so far this season, whereas only 5 have scored fewer. If there's limited funds, they can probably be better spent elsewhere.

  3. It's not just the initial save, what you can't appreciate from the clip above is he still had the presence of mind to stick his leg out to stop the Wednesday player getting the rebound.

Atkinson was also complimentary in his commentary about how well Max helps them defend crosses.

Perhaps he needs some more established competition, but I still think it would cost a lot of money to get a significant upgrade, whether it's transfer fees or salary.

Who has a better CV from the list we've seen?

That's a valid question, one that perhaps should have been thought about before sacking our previous manager. As for Lampard, did ok at Derby with some good young loans. Since then took a Chelsea team that finished 3rd in the Premier league and left them in 10th, then got sacked by Everton in 19th place where they had to be saved by Dyche, then won 1 in 11 games in his second spell at Chelsea. It's not an inspiring record.

  5. In my experience if a senior member of staff starts speaking out publicly against owners/CEOs, there's usually one outcome. The owner/ CEO may not be far behind in their departure because the person criticising is often correct, but they're not usually the first to go.

    I hope I'm wrong though.

  6. I agree with the need to get some competition in, but we'd have to pay a lot of money to get an upgrade that would earn us a significant amount of extra points over the season rather than the odd one or two.

Yes incredible support by Plymouth although they haven't played many of these teams in years.

We are having some of our typical big followings early. Swansea, Leicester, Cardiff but i imagine we'll be around mid table for attendances unless we are challenging at the top consistently.

    Sunderland though.....😱

I live a few miles north from Hillsborough, the stream of traffic that comes along when Sunderland are playing Wednesday is massive.

  8. Had a drink with a couple of Rotherham supporting friends before the game and their summary of the team was pretty much how it played out. Rathbone too good for them, some pacy players in the team but no quality up front to finish it off. Their main concern was their injury list which is apparently quite extensive.

Hugill spent most of the game trying to  foul Naismith. When he got away with it once that seemed to be his sole aim.

  9. Went tonight with a mate who's a Liverpool fan that went to their match on Sunday, talk about a step down in quality 2 days apart ?.

Huddersfield were absolutely dire, aimless long balls to nobody for most of the match, seemingly no plan, like 11 players in a trial match.  A frustrating match to  not win, but I had a feeling all week it was going to be that sort of game.

  10. Had we not played a game extra on boxing day as well? Win our game in hand and we're effectively the same points behind, but played the same rather than 1 more.

As a caveat to the above, I think it's very unlikely we'll get there.

Out of interest, how far behind were we after the two subsequent draws post WBA? Would be interesting to know how much we've caught up from there, rather than after WBA.
