  1. That's what I thought at first but looking at the numbers he scored 11 in 22 for Charlton in the championship (4 were pens). If he wasn't injured/let his contract run out that season they would have probably stayed up due to his goals. Agree about the gap between the divisions overall, apparently JCH isn't doing very well for Peterboro this season after being league one top scorer last season. Forest had a good defence last season but one of the worst attacks in the league, City finished 1 point below them but overall there were 40% more goals in the City games so they were also poor entertainment value. Need to bring in a manager who is more attack minded and I wouldn't be surprised to see them win a few games and pull out of the relegation zone.
  2. Looking at the stats they were all defeats by 1 goal until last night and in most games they have had a fair amount of chances and possession. Lyle Taylor has 5 in 45 since signing for Forest and I think if that record was more like what he managed at Charlton then they would be doing ok, also Grabban scored 20 in their (almost) play-off season and then scored 6 last season. Not sure what went wrong for Hughton but the strikers not firing won't have helped and its hard to argue against this decision, wonder how Forest fans would feel about taking back Lamouchi?
  3. This is from a different club but it may help... As part of our efforts to prepare fans for potential future entry procedures, on arrival to the stadium fans aged 18 and over may be asked if they have COVID certification. However, under the current guidance, demonstrating COVID certification is not mandatory and it not currently a condition of entry to the stadium. https://www.arsenal.com/tickets/arsenal/2021-Sep-26/tottenham-hotspur From reading this I believe it won't be a problem to go to the Saracens game without taking a test. I don't expect it will be enforced and I am expecting no hassle if I politely tell them that there is no law that requires me to do a test to enter.
  4. They had something like 67% of the ball against Birmingham but from what I saw it was painfully slow build up and apart from Lawrence it doesn't seem like there is much in way of goals in the team. Also looks like they can be pressured into making a fair few mistakes at the back. I have never really cared for Derby but there is something about an underdog story that makes me want to root for them just a little (their players and coaches I mean, nothing to do with their owners and fans). But if they get a points deduction this season I think they are definitely relegated.
  5. One ticket for the rugby against Saracens cost the same as 2 tickets for Cardiff away this weekend ? (still at least it's not the Bath game) Never actually been to Bristol Rugby before and I'm probably looking forward to drinking in my seat more than the match. ?
  6. Strange how they came in at similar times and how badly both are doing, City fans are getting worried but you can imagine they are feeling worse... Barton P21 W3 D2 L16 Pearson P17 W2 D5 L10 Who will turn it around first then? ?
  7. Both goals should have been defended better but at least they showed some fight for a spell, both league goals so far have been headers and I wonder how much we will struggle to score other types of goals. In a bad moment right now but there are some other poor teams in the division too, long season ahead but one win and things will start looking up.
  8. New signings combining for an equaliser, things turning around now the momentum has shifted? Hoping Wells will make an impact here because he's a proven goalscorer.
  9. Be interesting to see what they can create in the next 45 mins, early signs are that there could be some painful watches this season once we go behind. Hoping they have a go in the 2nd and prove me wrong, might need to bring on Wells but will need service.
  10. Bit of a comedown for Kalas going from beating the Netherlands to losing to Forest Green, hopefully he hasn't lost interest because all signs are pointing to a long difficult season ahead and he will be very important. Janneh I would say was the only bright spark from last night, looking at the midfield 3 picked it wasn't very creative so he stood out as a player willing to put a cross in even if it didn't come off, 2 goals will hopefully do his confidence some good but with only league games until after xmas now I'm not sure if he will get many minutes. Williams looked poor before going off, hopefully he will be back soon and get his fitness back to where he needs it to be. Fair play to Forest Green they didn't have as many chances as Blackpool to get back into it but they waited and they took the chance when it came. Disappointing night because they almost ended the winless run, hoping that will be over sooner rather than later although maybe it will be like the start of the O'Driscoll season who knows. ?
  11. Couldn't make a list of 10 because I haven't watched that many series but this is one show I have watched (along with the wire), definitely yes to Ralph he was a great character and would be on my list. ?
  12. Welcome to Chinese style social credit score, I guess this is the narrative we will need to accept to have any chance of party membership. ?
  13. When the solution is vaccines every year for life and a digitally controlled authoritarian system to enforce it then people are entitled to have serious reservations about the future being mapped out, people overlooking the implications of this and somehow still thinking they're righteous doesn't help much either in my view.
  14. The difference is that the rules changes were proposed by Boris so people could longer use tests to go to mass events. Once the vaccine passports are in place the goalposts can keep changing. I'm not comfortable with a new normal where if you don't take your unlicensed medication you are shut out from parts of society and it continues every 6 months or so, the green pass is being used again in Israel from next week which is a good source because they are generally ahead of us in the vax programme, if we look at them we can anticipate what will happen next here. https://www.timesofisrael.com/israeli-uk-data-offer-mixed-signals-on-vaccines-potency-against-delta-strain/ Here's another link from my favourite country ? Israel saying the Pfizer jab is 41% effective (against symptomatic transmission) and the UK is saying it's 88% effective. I wonder if the Washington Post will report that? Who are the scientists here and who are the vaccine sales reps posing as scientists?
  15. People want to reduce risk which makes sense. But when you are comparing 2 risk levels that are completely arbitrary and f9r the most part unknown then I have to question if people's concerns are completely rational. Agreed that BCFC are in a difficult position and can't keep everyone happy, if they have to bring in covid passports if I was them I wouldn't want to be seen as wanting to bring them in. I really hope they don't happen because I hate the idea of them, last week people were telling people with my views to stop whinging because it's only a qr code, we have seen in the space of a week this has already been disproven because it has moved on to you must be jabbed supposedly, once the system has been universally adopted I'm sure it wouldn't end there either. I think thats from April so before the delta variant? Sounds like a thorough study to be fair but not sure how long it could be realistically considered valid for.
  16. I wonder if the old dynamic of Spain having 2 big clubs has changed in the near future at least. Atletico with their new stadium and Real with their refurb must mean that both of their revenues will increase at a much higher rate than Barca's. With covid killing tourism and already high debt levels as well I suspect that La Liga are actually doing them a favour (without looking at the numbers). Got to admit I haven't heard of any of those players Barcelona sold so doubt they decreased the wage bill much. Not sure how much debt/wage bill they can service but it sounds like they are pushing their limits. It's possible that if inflation keeps going up then interest rates will need to be raised to control it, in that scenario I would be very interested to see how it would effect their numbers. I wouldn't plan on council tax in Catalonia going down anytime soon. ?
  17. Fair play, the Napoli fans rioted and set their stadium on fire (bit more interesting than the BK fire). 50,000+ crowd for the game and Swindon also played at Roma with a similar crowd, also beat Juve and Sampdoria home and away. Not a bad record against the Italians to be fair.
  18. Reading about their owner he has been in charge since 2015 so would be interested to find out if he has always been a terrible owner or if it has only turned out that way recently. Looks like he has got through a fair few managers over the years but that's not too unusual, reports say they have a chance of going bankrupt but not sure how accurate that is likewise the talks of a takeover. If the manager, assistant and CEO are all out the door then I guess it's a mess that won't be sorted soon and another season of struggle is likely. With all of the ex football league clubs in the conference it is looking quite a stacked division (the top half at least) and who knows how close they will be to relegation by the end of the season. I know it won't be a completely popular opinion to have but I hope they get themselves out of the mess they're in.
  19. It would appear that the Burger King outside their ground burnt down last night too ? https://www.swindonadvertiser.co.uk/news/19397555.burger-king-fire-drama-blaze-rips-roof-swindon-restaurant/
  20. Some of the highlights... Barrow away in August - bank holiday weekend by the sea, not sure if it has much of a beach though ? Harrogate away 30th October - trick or treat? lets hope there's no horror show ? Salford in November - probably flying high by this point but can they do it on a Tuesday night in Salford? FGR away - big day out if away fans are allowed by then they will be taking it over, bring back happy memories of conference play offs ? Boxing day - welcoming Sutton United to the Mem, a club who are famous mainly for 1 giant killing, maybe it will be 2 after this game? ?
  21. Few upset on the Leicester side . Could make a big difference between opponents in the play off semis so a good win under massive pressure.
  22. Was looking like it was anyone's game but turned it up a level at the right time. Not played well for the majority of the game though. Now down to 14, hopefully not a repeat of last week coming.
  23. It all came together for Sale after the yellow card, with the fans behind them and a good atmosphere it was their night. Tough opponents no doubt but they may not have so much momentum in the play offs and have a good chance of losing their winning streak with their games coming up. Thought Bristol could live to regret not scoring in the first half after so much territory and it played out very differently in the 2nd. Lost their way a bit for a short spell and were made to pay. Very entertaining game can only imagine how tense a play off game between the 2 sides would be.
  24. Don't understand rugby overly well but bought bt sport for a month earlier today which will take it until the final, so being a casual Bristol fan until the end of the season at least. Have also enjoyed the first half despite the score, wouldn't like to guess who will go on to win this.
  25. Chances are looking better now because should the top 6 teams breakaway or get kicked out of the football league that will mean they could survive ?
