  1. Podcast coming soon… it will take a while to edit this - it is currently well over 2 hours… 3 Robins Reviews this week too… big thanks to all of those who recognise the efforts and time commitment that goes into producing these podcasts especially the Robins Reunited’s… it is a labour of love and like many that have reached out to say so it also helps with our mental fitness to talk through games and celebrate former players contributions…

  2. Peter Spiring, 71 appearances 17 goals… 1969-73… As an England Youth midfielder Peter was an emerging figure at Ashton Gate in the early 1970's.
The son of former City player Gordon Spiring, he signed professional under Alan Dicks in June 1968 and made his League debut at home to Birmingham City in October 1969. He featured in the 1970/71 League Cup semi-final second-leg at Spurs before a surprise £60,000 move to Liverpool in March 1973.
Remaining in the top-flight after joining Luton Town for £70,000 in November 1974, he was reunited with John Sillett at Hereford United for £8,000 in February 1976 and helped to clinch the Third Division title in 1975/76 during seven years at Edgar Street. Still living in Hereford, he has been an electrical contractor since October 1983 and his son Reuben is a Worcestershire County cricketer.

Extract from Programme in 1997 - still in Hereford…

  3. Sounds like a great idea to be fair ?

It was held before the start of the season, and was contested by the teams that had scored the most goals in each of the four divisions of the Football League the previous season who had not been promoted or admitted to one of the European competitions.[1] Two teams from each division took part, making eight participants in total.[1]

The competition was a straight knockout format, each match was a one-off with no replays. The final took place at the home ground of one of the finalists, rather than a neutral venue.[2]

The competition was so named thanks to a sponsorship deal with the Watney Mann brewery; the first tournament for English Football Leagueclubs to sell its naming rights.[1][3] The tournament ran four times, from 1970 to 1973, before being discontinued.[1]

David Seal ahead of Tammy Abraham had me laughing for a few minutes, comedy gold!

Really enjoyed these though, despite shouting at my iPhone about some of the choices!

? it would be pretty boring if we all had the same ?

Are there any more in the pipeline? (I've been getting a bit confused by @3 Peaps In A PodCast top 5's due the the number of players that get a mention ? )

Just listened to this, it’s brilliant.

Neither of them anywhere near my favourite players but this was the best Robins Reunited yet.

Why? Because the interview/presenter had the sense to just sit back for the first 20 minutes and let them catch up, which made for a really enjoyable and insightful podcast.

I hadn’t appreciated how successful Mellon has been in management I have to say.

Thanks One Team! It was an approach that i used in the Shaun Taylor & Jim Brennan episode… just let them be “Reunited”

Isn’t it funny how the memory fades over the years.

I remember Brucie going awol and  Rush putting it over from 5 yards clear as day, but don’t remember Junior missing those two chances.

And I certainly don’t remember it being that windy.

Never get tired of watching that finish! Legend status secured that night.

What a player Alison was as well by the way.

And a final side note, for older readers, that’s Statto from Fantasy Football commentating - never noticed that before.

Statto! Wow - well i never knew that!
