  1. Yep, Pernille Harder for Chelsea broke the transfer record when she joined from Wolfsburg last year. Personally, I'd love to see Beard stay, as well as the team stay in the WSL. I'd be worried if Tanya Oxtoby returned and took the team to yet another relegation battle for a third successive season. I can see now why she wasn't sacked at the time (it would look bad for any organisation if they sacked someone while they were pregnant)

  4. Yep, famously beat Barcelona at Ashton Gate to reach the Champions League quarter finals in 2014. That was back when they were the independent Bristol Academy. Some (not me) have argued that since the team got taken over by Bristol City, that it's hindered the team. And that other teams have had more investment, and/or have leapt above them in terms of trophies/performances etc. Nowadays, you have the "top 4" in the WSL (Chelsa, Man City, Arsenal, and now, Man Utd) and a worrying trend that other WSL teams can't catch up. Also, it's not necessarily always a branding/exposure issue, as Liverpool got relegated while their men's team went on to win the Premier League.
  5. With the 6-0 loss today, as well as losing 9-0 at Kingsmeadow, and 5-0 at Twerton Park, Chelsea once again proving ruthless against teams like City. Second half was slightly better, but the injury to Mjelde is very worrying! Hope she gets well soon. Massive achievement for City to reach the final nonetheless. First Conti Cup Final where neither Arsenal or Man City have reached. Also, thanks to everyone who took part in the Zoom watchalong with the Vixencast and Supporters Club & Trust. Myself and the other podcast hosts are taking a break for a couple of hours and recording tonight. Would love to hear people's thoughts?
  6. Zoom watchalong with Bristol City Supporters Club & Trust and Bristol City Vixencast still on today. Registration closes at 1:00pm!
  7. What the City dressing room will look like at Vicarage Road today ?
  8. Game recognises game. Great tweet from Kasey Palmer (and credit to 3PIAPC)!
  9. Looking forward to this tomorrow! If you still want to take part, don't forget to sign up!

  11. Episode 18 of Bristol City Vixencast is out now! Back from the international break, D-M, Nat and I talk – a lot – about that game at Ashton Gate, in a bad night for the Royals (sounds familiar). We go into detail of an extraordinary footballing spectacle, in what is already being described as the best WSL game of the season. Under the floodlights on a feelgood International Women’s Day, Matt Beard’s Vixens showed us exactly what they are capable of. We relive a glorious team performance; those goals by Wellings, Purfield and Salmon; and celebrate no longer being bottom of the league, and talk about our brief encounter with ex-Bristol Academy & England goalkeeper Siobhan Chamberlain, who was doing commentary. We also report on all the latest City Women news and look forward to Sunday’s Conti-Cup final against Chelsea. Listen & follow subscribe here
  12. Following the success of the watchalong for the game against Bournemouth, Bristol City Supporters Club & Trust are joining forces with Bristol City Vixencast to host another watchalong for this Sunday's Conti Cup Final between Chelsea & Bristol City (not often you get any Bristol City team in a cup final!) The game is live on BT Sport, but contact is being made with the club to see if BT Sport can stream the game on YouTube as well, like they do for other cup finals they have rights to. Joining the watchalong will be guests of honour, and former Bristol City/Academy players Corinne Yorston & Grace McCatty. The watchalong will start a 2:00pm with KO being at 2:30pm. To register your interest, please email citywomen@bristolcitysupporters.org
  13. Anyway, what a result! We'll be recording & releasing the next episode of Bristol City Vixencast within the next couple of days. If you're following us on social media, let us know your thoughts on tonight!
  14. Same. But it seems to be a thing for a long time in women's football, especially back when they were Bristol Academy! And Siobhan Chamberlain used to play for Academy...
  15. 1-1 at half time. All to play for! I'm here in press box with Vixencast covering the game for out next episode. Feels weird being back at Ashton Gate, especially with the empty stands
  16. Whoever wrote that didn't realise the game is at Ashton Gate, not Twerton Park! ?
  17. With West Ham losing again today (11th on 8 points), if City win tomorrow night against Reading, they can finally get off the bottom of the table (currently on 6 points). Anyone got any thoughts on the game?
  18. Only started listening to the show last summer when I noticed Stanley on Robins TV! The particular style has been some of an influence on me, especially since I joined Bristol City Vixencast to cover City Women. I'd say OSIB & Robins At The Gate are the two City podcasts I listen to regularly (I've heard the others, but don't want to get too drowned in too many podcasts talking about the same thing!)
  19. If any City Women fans, or fans of the Women's Super League overall are interested, I'll be taking part in a live episode of On & Off The Pitch's live #WSLTAKEOUT TONIGHT from 6:00pm. Also joining host Rodney Cyrus will be Craig Hadley from the Brum is Blue Podcast, Allie Coker from the We Are The Girls in Claret & Blue podcast, and Emmma Shone from the MCW Fancast podcast. You can join in the live conversation on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=disRU2bMWPg
  20. So it seems City Women's next game against Reading on March 7th has not only moved to Ashton Gate, but pushed back to Monday March 8th for BT Sport coverage. They haven't had a game on that channel for nearly two years & have two in a week (the other being the Conti Cup Final). Bit annoying as I don't have BT Sport. Hopefully there'll be another way to watch the game (and hoping the final will at least be on BT Sport's YouTube)
  21. Crazy to think it was today one year ago, with City's win at Birmingham, which not only ensured WSL survival that season, but was the last game the team played in front of fans (including myself)!
