  1. Spot on. Almost every point as I see it too. I was really disappointed with some of our fans on Boxing Day. I'm in the 'Singing Section' corner...whatever you want to call it. Very little atmosphere throughout the game, until their voices were found near the end to chant about Pearson Out etc. As a big Pearson fan, I was really disappointed to see the line up for the WBA game, especially following the Stoke performance and result. But it's all about context, if Pearson had the resources LJ was handed and still getting these results, I'd probably join in, but that isn't the case! I do feel the supporters have a part to play in improving things for themselves. No, a good atmosphere doesn't guarantee points, but this isn't the first manager in recent times to suggest it might be easier for the players to play away from home. Get behind the team boys and girls. COYR!
  2. Agree, that's how I feel. We're closing in on Nige no longer having to work with both hands tied behind his back. I've always been a Pearson fan. Boxing Day and Stoke is hard even for me to defend. Especially an unchanged 11 after a dismal performance and result against Stoke. But I feel we are close to him really showing his worth with transfer dealings. I think we will loan one or two in Jan to keep us above a horrible relegation battle. Then the summer will be a real opportunity for a fresh start. If we can stay up, and strengthen in the summer, then it's fair to judge Pearson. COYR
  3. It was a dour atmosphere yesterday other than first 10 of each half. Swansea weren't great either, about 200 singing for first 20 and when they equalised. I noticed our fans were very quiet at Reading last week, and more and more so recently. Blackpool away last season was the same, turned up in numbers, most stood, most silent. People outside of the South Stand/Dolman corner may be surprised to hear there are variable dynamics within a relatively small space, its not one unit. Youngsters seem obsessed with singing about Joey Barton, olders don't seem to like anything with more than 4 words in it, others just want to be Crystal Palace and everyone inbetween seems to be waiting for it to happen (including myself to be fair). It lacks any togetherness or anything decent and new. It'll come back around again, it always does, just needs a bit of sustained, relative success. E.g. A playoff push or cup run.
  4. Just short of 1200 in the corner. The point still stands though, it's a shame AG can't be rejigged to get home support behind both goals
  5. The ticket website is down for me, is this the same for anybody else? @JerrySLO FYI
  6. It's a strange one. I get my season ticket in the corner as I don't enjoy the matchday experience of sitting at games, standing is just a preference for me. I've also always loved being amongst the atmosphere. This season I feel if there was another place I could stand and chant etc then I would move there as things seem to have changed a bit in the corner with odd chants and throwing trainers...maybe I'm maturing!? Probably just boring. I like the idea of furthest lower block of the Dolman next to the Atyeo being a seperate area for standing etc, I doubt the club would allow it but you never know. I noticed at Shrewsbury away in the FA Cup replay a couple of years ago. They had safe standing behind their goal, akin to our corner, but they also had about 300/400 stood to our side who in fairness made a really decent noise. Slightly off topic, but because of the Omricon variant, I went in the top of the Lansdown Stand, right at the far end, next to the Atyeo for the Huddersfield home game. We've been told for years how nobody can hear the corner, well it was 3/4 full that day (because of the new variant) and I could hear them loud and clear throughout the game, we were surprised at how clearly we could hear them after being told for years the sound doesn't travel...maybe helped by only 250 or 300 Huddersfield fans being next to us, but at least it dispelled that myth.
  7. He's an interesting one, Bentley. I've never felt like he's an outstanding keeper. But after his return to the team, I realised just how good he is for us. I think we are about his level, he is about our level and it's a good fit. Of course he has some weaknesses but I think he's a good #1. But the successful teams always look to improve on what they have, even if what they have is already good. I know nothing about this chap we're linked with though.
  8. Yeah that's a good point. I really enjoy seeing young lads come through and in to the first team too. I think I was expecting more from the lads I'd not seen live before (no first team appearances). But it seems some are 16, 17 or 18 which means they have time to develop. On a more positive note, one thing that stood out to me was their understanding of their role in the team, they all held their positions well and worked as a team rather than a group of individuals. Fingers crossed a few more emerge in and around the first team next season. COYR
  9. My first live watch of the U23s, I enjoyed the evening. Albeit I feel a little underwhelmed about some of the quality. Conway stood out like a sore thumb, he was excellent. Towler was more physical than others. Not much else to write home about. Our right back showed some moments of promise offensively. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but a little bit more, I guess. Oh the number 3 was impressive, worked hard and was consistent in what I assume wasn't his natural position at CB, once moved?
  10. I have noticed this type of attitude more and more, particularly this season. I stand in the corner, on the edge of it, I wish there was another area of the ground I could stand, sing and watch the game as its getting weird in there. But I don't like sitting at football and the rest of Ashton Gate is very 'passive'.
  11. I'm far from Bentleys biggest fan. But I'd have him back in on Saturday. With a new keeper near the top of the list for next season.
  12. Really enjoyed watching him play for us. Loved it when he applauded City fans at Villa Park a few seasons back too, he was given a great reception throughout the game. Unfortunately some youngsters, not far from me in the South Stand/Dolman corner, were booing him the other week. Only 50 or so, but enough that he would've heard it. It really disappointed me. A sign of the times maybe, it seems the youngsters find it cool to boo any player who has the audacity to leave City.
  13. Pretty sure Joe Burnell scored with his left foot in 1st or 2nd minute, I want to say against Luton in the Danny Wilson era? Ended 1-1!
  14. I was looking up trains to Blackpool for the game in Feb. £100pp, or I can drive there and back on a full tank, roughly £70 total so £35 each, decision made. I've always wondered why train fare is so expensive, a shame as it makes more of a day of it.
  15. Agree with a fair amount of this. Although the corner was named a 'Singing Section' by the club retrospectively. It was not something people requested as far as I am aware, I certainly didn't move to a designated 'Singing Section'. What would BS need to do in your opinion? I'm not part of the S82 group, but I see it as they are trying to make the best of a bad situation. If there is something others can offer to improve it, surely it's worth doing it?
  16. Stop the crappy chants about a local rivals' manager, just when an atmosphere is trying to build would help. AG layout post rebuild, is not great for atmosphere and the club do NOT want it hostile, they want it 'nice'. I do think a block or two in the bottom tier of the Dolman nearest the away fans would be a good idea to spread the atmosphere a bit. I'm in the corner but not in the group in the centre. They give it a good go most games and I have some personal friends amongst them. Saturday was below par and was a poor atmosphere. However, for those who need a bit of encouragement to get behind the team, let's not forget we have had a poor home record for 3 or 4 seasons now. COYR
  17. I've got 2 Adult uncovered standing tickets available for tonight available for face value (£12 each). Something has come up and I can no longer attend. Collection only from South Glos area. PM me for arranging, first come first serve
  18. Unfortunately this one ripped to shreds a couple of seasons ago. I'm no longer involved but I don't think it was repairable.
  19. Where is the 70 odd figure coming from for Scunthorpe? Hardly a huge following but our actual following was over double "70 odd" (158). That distance on a Tuesday for that competition and those opponents...not a bad effort.
  20. UWE is in South Gloucestershire not Bristol, therefore I don't see this affecting Bristol in the slightest.
  21. I don't understand the hype about this one, he's a fairly decent league one player, but weak, quick enough but not blistering pace, a fairly decent footballing brain but I think he's more of a winger than a striker and we play wing backs, also don't think he'd be strong enough for or good enough as a striker for the Championship.
  22. I have to admit I was a huge doubter, I thought he was going to be much better than he has been but the last 6 weeks he really has dug deep and worked hard. Now he's reaping the benefits of that hard work and so are we, both at Shrewsbury and again last night he worked his socks off! Keep it up Sam Baldock
  23. Would be pleased with this. I think it was their RB (Little) who crocked Cunningham.
