  1. I predict 0-0 at Half Time, then a very boring second with neither team risking defeat and one of them to then nick a winner in the last minutes, hopefully Forest.
  2. Has to be two players between player and goal, unless in own half, keeper and one other, unless the ball is played backwards.
  3. The issue they were saying on TV was the majority of tickets were print at home tickets and basically touts had been selling them 3 or 4 times over, the same tickets, so a lot of fans turning up without valid tickets, a case of first one in the turnstile gets the seat, 3 or 4 angry other fans.
  4. Game needs a goal, its getting stale .....
  5. I enjoyed Camilla in the opening ceremony tbh, admittedly I had it on mute, but I enjoyed it all the same.
  6. That is one terrible forum to navigate! makes you appreciate how decent OTIB is in ease of use and viewing.
  7. Even if he runs down his contract here, he wont struggle to get a club in US or Aus in a years time. Ex Chelsea, Premier League/Championship performer. He wont struggle to get there as a marquee player, but none of those clubs buy players, they sign them on frees. That's why we are better off terminating his contract with some proviso's regarding compensation should he sign for another club this year, as he will be a target for those clubs as a free agent.
  8. I wouldn't worry too much about the defenders. I have a feeling Cundy will go as he will probably get guaranteed first team football in League One and he was not on much money here. I suspect Klose will renew his contract, he might be seeing if there is any interest still at Norwich to return for a year, as he still lives in the area, but I suspect he will put pen to paper soon enough. He is already first choice central defender here and on what he has shown in the last 5 months, he could justify asking for a better deal than the short term one he signed, and I suspect we will be willing to grant one. He might struggle to get the guarantees we could give him elsewhere, but I understand in his position seeing what's available before signing, but I am pretty sure he will sign for us.
  9. The fact is, if a player is sold, a contract is paid up UNLESS the new contract is equal or better to their current contract. This part of the reason we find it hard to sell players we don't want. The fact is, he is rumoured to be on 20K a week, so effectively with 13 months left on his deal, we stand to pay him £1,120,000 before his contract expires. Whatever Palmer will earn over the next 13 months, unless it is more, we are contractually obliged to pay him that. Now if he was being sold for decent money, and going for a wage match or more, it is no issue, but the fact is any offer is going to cost Bristol City. Do we see an exit point, where we can recoup the majority of that sort of outlay, I highly doubt this. Our best option would be to offer him 500K to rip up his contract. In doing this, he is a free agent, and therefore can get the best deal for him and he would be eligible for a signing on fee. Therefore any Championship / League One club could come in with say £5000 a week, but increasing to £10,000 after x many performances, for say 3 years. This means if he plays and does well, he has the opportunity to get a decent wage, but would still get £250,000 a year for 3 years if he doesn't, he would have got say 750K for this year, from ripping up his contract and new wage. He could probably also get a 100-200K signing on fee. It would also open up the opportunity for a move to Aus or US where he could be signed under the marquee player rule and it wouldn't probably suit him. Rather than wasting time trying to thrash out a deal with clubs to recoup what we can, we are far better negotiating with him what it would take to terminate his contract.
  10. They have let go a lot of players to make way for new blood. Like it or not, if we are in for a player and so are Sunderland, the player will opt for Sunderland who can and will pay higher wages. I expect Sunderland will make some good signings and get in some quality on loan. It's all well and good saying these clubs who were big clubs have taken time to get back out of League One, but League One now is a minefield. I actually fear if we went down, it would be a long time coming before we get back up again with the quality that's in there now, compared to when we were last there. As bigger teams like Blackpool have shown, when they get back into the Championship they will compete again. Our priority should always be staying up and over time develop a team to improve, as right now, relegation would be a nightmare, as we would struggle to get back out that league the way it is currently.
  11. Sunderland and Hull should not be bigger prices than us. They have a lot more money to spend and are more attractive a club to sign for. They have been in the top flight and have owners willing to back them, Sunderland could very easily go straight up again with the sort of player they will attract. Hull will be a much bigger force to be reckoned with next season than they were this season. I agree we will have a better chance than Rotherham, Cardiff, Reading & Wigan, but we are no better and no worse than Birmingham and it is still more attractive a club than ours, sadly.
  12. Watford - 7/1 Norwich City - 8/1 West Brom - 9/1 Sheffield United - 10/1 Sunderland - 20/1 Luton Town - 25/1 Bristol City - 40/1 Have a bet on all of them at all those prices, 20%, 20%, 15%, 15%, 10%, 10%, 10%, pretty much nailed on to deliver a profit to bank imo. Surprised the top line of the market is so high, 7/1 the field looks rather big to me.
  13. A nice argumentative thread, brings back memories of when LJ was our gaffer! He's just made a good first signing for them however.
  14. Was he out of contract at FGR? I can't see how this can be done? Surely RE can't just resign and take a new post, and if he's under contract then FGR surely are due compensation or something. Unless he was out of contract at the end of the season, I can't see how this has happened.
  15. Sorry you lost a friend, hope he was watching down on them proud today. My comments were only tongue in cheek, I'm genuinely pleased for them. I have uncles who are Rovers fans and one of them is battling cancer and I know he would have loved to have been there today. My Dad's brothers and sisters are split, 8 kids, 4 Rovers, 4 City. Strange, but they are all in their 70s and 80s and things were different back then. I toyed with the idea of going to watch Exeter today. I think it's great how well the West Country teams have done this season, it's a shame Plymouth buckled. Sadly I don't get to many City games anymore, too expensive for me and living in Exmoor it's a long journey is its an early or late kick off. I've been to a few Exeter, Plymouth and Torquay games this season and I find myself wanting all the West Country teams to do well. I've never gone to watch Rovers, but I am pleased for my uncles and also pleased for their fans. I enjoyed watching it on Ifollow today as it unfolded, with SSN on the TV. As bad as it is to say, I gave a little cheer when the 7th went in. Fair play to em.
  16. I have to be honest, when they got to 5-0, I hoped they would do it. Made the end of the season's football more exciting. Shame that Exeter couldn't win the league, but I'm quite pleased Rovers got promoted and fair play to them and the job Joey Barton has done. Well done the Gas, credit where credits due, if you win 7-0 you deserve to go up. No bitterness here. BTW, I bet its bouncing on the Robbered bus right now!
  17. Knowing our luck, Swindon will let one in, in the last minute and gift them a playoff place back.
  18. Given we paid top dollar for Bentley and wouldn't get much more than we paid for him, how do we replace a keeper who has saved us many points this season, including another one on Saturday with a great save tipping one round the post. I think Bentley has probably saved us 10pts this season on his own with some of the saves he's made. Also we would struggle to get more than £1m for Wiemann at his age and theres not way we could replace him so cheaply. I would be devastated if we sold either of those. More content with Semenyo going, who can fetch big money for a player whose finishing needs improving and could be replaced with the money and our academy looks like it has a few promising forwards coming through. I would be very surprised if Massengo was here next year, but thats no big deal to me. I hope Scott stays as he could be very good next year.
  19. We are not the worse, but we are one of the worse. The league table doesn't lie and without Derby and Reading's point deductions we would be relegation contenders this season, there is no doubt about that.
  20. I couldn't see LJ coming back to be a coach, or a number 2. I actually think it would be a good move all round, but I can't see it happening. JM back in the youth set up is something I could see happening and wouldn't be against it. Bristol City is a bit of a cosy number for ex players though, as much as he is loved, I personally think we waste money on still employing Scott Murray. It's not exactly a role that the club needs and he is probably on more money than most kit men are.
  21. I wonder if I am the only one who has noticed a certain trend in the last 7-10 days on Social Media. For the best part of the last two weeks, the club has praised HNM, Semenyo & Scott. From showing stats of performances, to accolades on MOTM, to videos of nutmegs and stepovers, the club has actively been highlighting the players traits and abilities way more than I have noticed in the past. It is proper sticking the player in the shop window and highlighting them hoping scouts will pick up on this. I have a feeling, all three are very much for sale and the club are actively sticking it out there about the trio, hoping they will trend on Social Media, or catch the eye of certain press, and clubs and so on. The fans comment in awe of the players skills and form, but for me there is underhand tactics going on, that whilst it could be conceived as showcasing our young talent, it feels more like a LOOK AT THIS, to try and bring in offers. I fully expect to see at least two of our young stars sold this summer, possibly all three. I fear we may not get what they are worth, with the club putting out come and get me pleas to a certain extent. I may be over thinking this, but wondered if anyone else has thought the same when this trio have been splashed all over our socials this last couple of weeks.
  22. All I can say is thank God for Reading and Derby's point reduction. Without them we would be knee deep in it right now.
  23. Wouldn't say three, maybe since Covid restarted. But not three. Also I think a lot of them were excited about Houghton, or Gerard and that being touted when LJ was sacked, only for it to be a choice of Cook or Holden and Holden replaced by someone with zero personality.
