Lads - I solved this riddle earlier on. It was Brian Flynn, who made his name as “Lenny Lottery” at the Sun initially…

Brian Flynn was Redtop. I remember attending a few games with him. Really lovely bloke. I wish I could remember my original forum name.

I’d have my doubts. The trouble is that the Willem link won’t be fully known by all fans (likely will be by the Willem fans who come over) and as such you always have the risk of a City fan having Willem around him and reacting badly.

The police advice would, I’d imagine, to notionally sell home/away tickets. That doesn’t mean it will be stuck to obviously but the small risk of things going wrong, and the kickback if it wasn’t segregated “officially” will likely be pointed out by both the Police and SAG.

Outside the ground - no issues. Inside I’d be surprised if they didn’t “officially” err on established practices.

That is the clubs job to communicate the link to the fans. Will they do it, well.....

But I'm glad that this is over the line finally.  Great work by the club.

  3. Although I don't see eye to eye with David, that would be the perfect role for him and someone who would benefit the club in such a role. We always talk about the extra percent, so why wouldn't you pay for someone with the aptitude that David has for this sort of thing to join the club?

  4. I said they were going to shock a few people this summer with a few things. What a great fixture for the fans.

Well done JL and everyone else involved (don't forget Manning would have to agree too).

Whilst I was very impressed with his 27 minutes performance, it's really difficult to judge whether Manning would include him in next season's 1st team squad.

U21 football is what it is and City and Charlton have both struggled with results this season. Some will say that results don't matter, it is a 'development league'. However, the jump from U21 to Champ is huge as we know. Not everyone is an Alex Scott unfortunately.

The personnel and make up of our u21 squad will look very different next season with a lot of players being released soon and u18 players stepping in.

It's going to be very interesting to follow the pathway of Murphy and the U18's stepping up.

I called it a few weeks back that Forest Green may look at some of our u21 released players or even those players staying, who maybe loaned out next season. Ping! - Cotts was at the gate yesterday, so it will be interesting to see if anything happens on that front.

Solid performance wasn’t it. Looked very composed and confident. I’m very much looking forward to seeing more vs FGR

Yes. Very different circumstances. We almost lost our beloved club due to over stretching ourselves financially. We now have a local billionaire who has saddled us with debt with no intention of financing a promotion push. You happy with the current situation, Tim?

Frustrated is probably the right word, but certainly not unhappy. That could change following the summer window as I truly believe we’re in the best position we’ve been in for a while. The club think that too. We need to build on some key areas in the squad, and I think we’ve got a real chance.

For what I’m hearing we will shock a few this window.

So how much more of the Lansdown regime are you willing to put up with TD? I have supported the club since my old man first took me to the gate in the late 70’s, but have never felt so disillusioned as I am now. It’s become blatantly obvious that SL has no intention of financing a promotion push, and I believe we are effectively now in a managed decline. If you wish to support that, fine, it’s up to you, but I would rather we have a bit of short term pain for long term gain. I have long come to the conclusion that SL doesn’t have our best interests at heart and will carry on as owner to the detriment of the club.

So you’re more disillusioned than 1982?

If he’s lost the likes of @Davefevs and the Exiled Robin then this is only going to end very badly.

I’d say the opposite. Everything Dave says, the opposite tends to happen. Let’s not mention his opinion on Mark Ashton as Ipswich are now celebrating their return to the Premier League (he’ cleverly puts a caveat on most opinions so he can easily do a political u-turn). Best thing I ever did was put him and his own self inflated ego on ignore.

The fact he’s predicting failure fills me with more hope.

    Right. Okay. 👌

Where do you get quivering from? If you’re talking about his medical condition that affects his throat, then that a bit out of order isn’t it. I’ve read a few comments about it now.

You seriously think Jon Lansdown is a credible Chairman of a £100 million turnover business?

Hes doing alright so far. What’s he done wrong? As far as I can see, we’re a financially stable championship club with year on year league growth with a solid platform to kick on. I don’t see a reason to be negative.

    Ah okay.

Yeah just not how I interpreted it. Mentioned adjustment, but I thought that was more adjustment to the level of opposition, adjusting to the capability of our squad etc

    It was.

It's frankly embarassing and smacks of amateurism that this man is a Chairman of a Championship Football club. Out of his depth and full of arrogance.

    I detest him.

What's amateur about it? And what would you do different?

If you’re going to present something as “fact” it would be nice if it were fact.
Before Manning we were 5 points off the play offs and we are now 10 off.

So, let's say a coach gets fired after just two games into the season. At that point, the team was only one point away from the top spot. However, by the end of the season, they ended up in sixth place. Now, consider that in the past four seasons, this same team consistently finished in the 18th position. Would you still argue that this isn't progress, simply because they were once so close to the top?

    Is that actually your argument?

It's a bit of 2+2 but Jon mentioned that everyone that comes into the club including the manager would have to adjust to our style which is front foot high pressing football.

He mentioned how before the international break we played differently. So whilst it's correct that he didn't say "I told Liam to play differently" to me, he heavily insinuated that. When you add in the context that Liam did suddenly change our style then it all does add up. This change in style did coincide with SL making an appearance in the stands. Although I totally respect if you don't perceive his comments that way.

I'm done. So you had the audacity to call someone a liar and minutes later you're spouting 2+2 as fact, when you confidently said they were "told" 🤣

Jeez, this forum is nuts 🤣

    It’s nonsense.
As is most of what comes out of his mouth.
If your were to write down his words and read them out verbatim, you’ll see it’s just a collection of words that mean nothing when placed in the order he says them.
I find it really hard to fathom anything he says and his sentences never give any committed answer - it’s all just wafflly bollocks and means nothing.
“in terms of this, in terms of that, that’s the process we’re looking for, the plan is this or that but I can’t tell you anything about how we actually achieve anything”.
    Waffly nonsense.

You listened twice!! Nurse!! We’ve got another one. Quick…..

To answer your question though I don’t think the board told Manning to rip it up.
As Fevs alludes to on Page 4, I think the players “went rogue”.
In fact, as far as I am aware, the players actually spoke to Manning about it and Manning agreed to switch back to the style that best suited the squad.
That was the moment I said enough. I was backing him prior to that (this was around the time of the swans game). But once I heard that he’d wilted and threw his own principals in the bin due to player pressure, I didn’t want him in charge any more. That was my turning point.  If you feel you need to change something because it’s not working it should be because you yourself understand why and what you need to do to change.
The fact he bowed to player pressure was enough to tell me he’s not a leader.

And no surprise. Because the bloke speaking on the radio tonight isn’t any sort of leader either.

    Thats rubbish.

As far as I'M aware, the players actually told Manning that they loved the new system and agreed to stick with it as they could see what they were trying to achieve. However, the main talking point was the Tuna pasta bake that the chef made on the Wednesday before. Apparently, and don't ask me to reveal my source, it was the best pasta that they'd ever tasted and the main debate was whether mayo was used with a sprinkling of pepper.

Another one with inside knowledge. Come on, spill the beans. Who told you this? Must be one of the first time players. Who is it? Don't be shy.
