The Office (UK): Ipswich Town edition
Tim Monaghan replied to LondonBristolian's topic in Football Chat
This thread is embarrassing now isn’t it! . Yet another example. -
Right. Okay. Where do you get quivering from? If you’re talking about his medical condition that affects his throat, then that a bit out of order isn’t it. I’ve read a few comments about it now.
-
Hes doing alright so far. What’s he done wrong? As far as I can see, we’re a financially stable championship club with year on year league growth with a solid platform to kick on. I don’t see a reason to be negative. It was.
-
What's amateur about it? And what would you do different?
-
So, let's say a coach gets fired after just two games into the season. At that point, the team was only one point away from the top spot. However, by the end of the season, they ended up in sixth place. Now, consider that in the past four seasons, this same team consistently finished in the 18th position. Would you still argue that this isn't progress, simply because they were once so close to the top? Is that actually your argument? Better than lying, eh.
-
I'm done. So you had the audacity to call someone a liar and minutes later you're spouting 2+2 as fact, when you confidently said they were "told" Jeez, this forum is nuts
-
Thats rubbish. As far as I'M aware, the players actually told Manning that they loved the new system and agreed to stick with it as they could see what they were trying to achieve. However, the main talking point was the Tuna pasta bake that the chef made on the Wednesday before. Apparently, and don't ask me to reveal my source, it was the best pasta that they'd ever tasted and the main debate was whether mayo was used with a sprinkling of pepper.
-
Another one with inside knowledge. Come on, spill the beans. Who told you this? Must be one of the first time players. Who is it? Don't be shy.
-
The irony of that is incredible. How on earth do you know he was "told" to adjust? You're just making things up now
-
That’s your opinion and I respect it. It’s not mine. Really looking forward to next season so not gonna get dragged into negativity. COYRs

What bit do you think?
-
Wasn’t that I was “facepalming” as that is clearly obvious. It’s this ridiculous statement > “The lies etc from the likes of JL has fractured the fanbase. It's not just me.” I hope that’s cleared it. Up. As you were.

Does xG tell us anything about the season?
Tim Monaghan replied to Silvio Dante's topic in Football Chat
All stats, yes. I’m not saying all stats are nonsense. But xG is IMO. P.s - “Statistics are just a pattern of information that we have. There are players who make the team play good without the statistics. You don’t need statistics. If you perform to your maximum, if you perform to your best and you helped your team-mates and make the process better, it is enough.” - Pep -
Does xG tell us anything about the season?
Tim Monaghan replied to Silvio Dante's topic in Football Chat
This is why I think it’s nonsense. Sometimes it’s Way Off. Way off. You’d think the team with the higher xG would win, right? Not always the case. It just measures the quality of chances, not who’s gonna win. Unlike what @Davefevs will have you believe, football is played by humans. Football isn’t played by robots; Players get nervous, they make mistakes, they do random stuff. xG doesn’t really get that. Also xG is all about past data. But football’s always changing, so what happened before might not mean squat for what’s coming next. Injuries, suspensions, new players, change of tactics, the list is endless. So, yeah, xG is basic of the basic nonsense. -

Said xG. So show the xG table. That’s what we are talking about. So you’ve just proven my point that it’s nonsense. -

Can you show me where I said all analytics? -

Just because Manning has quoted it, doesn’t mean it’s not nonsense. -

xG is the most nonsense stat in football. I also see the nonsense stat thread, that was updated after every match to batter Manning has disappeared…… funny that. -
Rotherham United at home match thread
Tim Monaghan replied to Jerseybean's topic in The Havanatopia Match Day Archive
I think you have to look past some of the games he’s played here. Even when he’s not been at this best, he’s offered. A must sign for me. -

Yeah, I agree. I actually really like the kid, but he’s being guided wrongly IMO. Gutted to see him go, but he certainly isn’t irreplaceable. -
