  1. Does Semenyo lose some market value from sitting on the bench? I know NP isn't going to be thinking like that when he picks his XI, nor should he, but it is a bit of a concern. It's not like Semenyos potential is any less though whether he starts or not, but I don't want us accepting a low-ball offer either or risk him running his contract down.
  2. I remember reading the reports that Chelsea and Man United were looking at him and thinking that was odd. I guess that's why I'm posting on a forum not working as a scout.
  3. I thought he was unlucky not to score today off a great ball from Wells. Almost had an assist as well, found Wells wide open at the far post but a bit too much power on the cross. I don't know why he was in midfield and out wide so much today but I don't think that is optimal for him.
  4. No service to the forwards which has been a trend recently, even with Scott we have struggled to progress the ball at times. Sykes RWB experiment needs to be reconsidered. Defensively, I thought we were decent. Not scoring is a let down with the quality of our forwards being one of the best in the division. I would try Conway-Semenyo-Wells next time.
  5. Every manager likes to tinker around and try new ideas, and it's never going to work every single time. I don't like to second guess tactical decisions unless the manager persists with an idea that isn't working for an extended period of time. Many of them are stubborn and think too highly of themselves, with the attitude that it's the players fault for not executing the plan well enough. I'm not sure whether that applies to NP but we'll find out soon enough. I'm hoping that once Semenyo starts we will see less of Martin and fewer long balls over the top.
  6. I don't understand it, the pressing intensity seemed higher last season compared to what it is now and Semenyo is a big part of that. He has certain attributes that cannot be found elsewhere in the side
  7. Semenyo needs to start now for me. We have consistently looked more dangerous with him on the pitch. Even if he's only fit to play 60-70 minutes at first we're gonna have to break him in eventually, so why not now? I think Conway will benefit from coming off the bench as well, or he could even get a run of games behind the striker if NP doesn't want to drop him
  8. Yes, I'm not sure we would score as much if we take one of our midfield out and put in another CB though. Unless the plan is just to hoof it over top for 90 minutes which I can't stand when we do that
  9. I agree, he's entertaining to watch. I was moreso making the point that for me his best fit is probably as a DM screening in front of a back four. In our current setup I think Naismith and 3 centre backs is probably too defensive
  10. I think he's got the right attributes to be a deep lying playmaker/holding midfielder but not with a back three/five behind him. I'm not sure whether there's a clear fit for him in the current setup
  11. I hope he does get a start soon so he can get into a rythym. That chance he skied vs Burnley was a very difficult angle but one I think he would take or at least hit the target on 7 or 8 times out of 10. Shows how far he's come; this time last year I wouldn't be surprised at the all about him sending it into row Z. I get not wanting to risk reinjury as with his contract running down a significant injury could be the difference between getting 15 million for him vs 25 or 30 but I am also eager to see him Conway and Weimann getting a good connection going. I think that's probably our best 3 up top
  12. I really think were it not for the injury he would be sold already. Bournemouth bid for £10 million in spite of the fact he's not even starting. To me he has the profile of a modern centre forward -- high pressing, can drop deep and receive to feet, good dribbler, finishing with both feet. If he continues to bulk up it's going to be very difficult to get the ball of him. Its not uncommon for younger players to have an inconsistent first touch, and if he can refine that and work on his aerial ability the sky is the limit. I think he would fit well on team like Southampton or Leeds that like to press high and employ vertical, direct attacks with minimal time from winning the ball to shots on goal. Those teams while they are direct tend to play shorter passes and mostly on the ground. I'm not sure whether he would have success in a more defensive side that plays a lot of long balls. Another area he may struggle is against teams that play a low block. I'm curious as to how well people think his skill set would transfer to the premiership; for me he seems a better chance than someone like Brereton-Diaz or Piroe.
  13. I hope they go down, the only reason they have all that money is from the owner being a big time drug dealer. It seems like they're buying names rather than putting a squad together. Once I saw them linked to the likes of Aurier and Batshuayi I knew they weren't actually scouting these players
  14. I think he will be worked in gradually, his pressing intensity doesn't seem to be near the level of last season. I'm also not convinced that hoofing long balls into his general vicinity is the best use of his skillset
  15. Does anybody else think Semenyo is the to most likely Championship striker/CF to have success in the Premier League? It's between him and Piroe for me. Not sold on BBD or Gyokeres
