  1. Not just get to the Prem, auto promotion That is up there with Leicester winning the Prem. Non PP in an auto spot, wow. One of the greatest football achievements IMHO.
  2. In fairness, Ashton (who I dislike a lot) had little or nothing to do with appointing LJ or Holden. He did have a lot to do with appointing McKenna. As annoying as that all is. Facts are, Ashton will have overseen , what seems certain now, a double promotion. He makes me feel like taking some Kwells, but I can see beyond that, and the guy has earned every plaudit going for this. So you have to ask, why he failed at BCFC. We all know that answer. There is a common theme.
  3. Sacked for being disabled. Some boss or owner you would be. Unreal. Are you serous in what you just wrote? Have a long hard think about what you are saying.
  4. Well has nobody told him he has to create at least a £10M transfer profit each season, and still make a push for the play offs? Was it not mentioned at the interview?
  5. IMHO, he is lying in the interview. The season expectation was to be challenging top 6. They were not lying when they claimed that Pearson was failing to meet that aim. They are lying now because they expected Manning to easily improve on Pearson. That is not to criticise Manning, he was never equipped to perform such an improvement. Their expectation from the squad and a coach struggling to find his feet was unrealistic. Manning failed to meet their target. The expectation for the next season with the benefit hindsight is the more interesting question to ask. What target have they given Manning for next season? It was top 6 when he was hired, is it still top 6, or is it now mid table? Some clarity about how much money is needed to be generated from player sales in the next 12 months would also be welcome. Has the budget now changed? Is there still a need to create a significant transfer income to offset losses? If not , why not, what has changed Has Sl decided to start backing the club again? Or do we still need £10M plus net transfer income? Marshall is another cog in the incompetent and amateur set up at BCFC.
  6. Stop talking in riddles, and explain what you mean. You are suggesting you know the truth, so why are you not saying what it is? So come on then. Put it out there and stand by what you say. Go for it. I cannot wait to hear an explanation of why Jon Lansdown is not a bumbling crayola king buffoon.,Because that stretches well beyond anything to do with Pearson and has a lot of substantive evidence in the public domain. Sadly for you, with little to support your claim.. The floor is yours, we are all waiting for you.
  7. Baffling indeed. So the players are happier ? Are you sure ? What makes you say that ? I’ve not yet seen a “ happy o meter “ in football . Are you measuring their smiles ? What is your technique for measuring happiness ? If you have developed something you could be on a big money earner . Sky sports , we now go over to Ashton Gate live “ everyone , this is a football first , I’ve never seen so many happy players in a team . They are waving to everyone , handing out money , hugging each other . It’s incredible . Liam Manning is the architect of a new brand of happy football, move over Pep “ Baffling indeed
  8. Due to many games being televised in 24, I have watched many Leicester games. As a team they have got much worse the more they have been coached. They are pedestrian in extreme, and stroll around. Gone is the energy and panache of early season, they have just got slower and slower. If they cannot manage the Man City approach with their budget, then woah. I rather think we should all be talking more about McKenna and Ipswich, who still have a chance to win the league, with more than half of a L1 team (though a Championship budget) . Non PP and have caused problems for everyone. They seem to play in the manner Tinnion described. Manning has shown no signs he wants to emulate McKenna, so I am still confused as to what exactly the club are planning to do with Manning next season. Stick with him yes, back him to an extent, yes sure. But to play in what manner? (as our Teknical boss spoke to Keogh about Manning for a reference, when they did not work together, this is no surprise) That really is the underlying issue, because various topics on this board have failed to unravel any clarity, and the words from the the head of football are not even close to what Manning wants to do. The on pitch displays range from mind numbing boredom to exciting (when the players go feral) So if everyone is confused, that in my opinion will lead to one inevitable conclusion. Being generous you can say, give him a pre season, forget he failed to deliver the objectives this season , let him have some of his own players (Mebude), set up how he really wants , all the time on the hybrid grass that he desires, and then judge him. The excuses are gone, and he can deliver what some believe he is able to and demonstrate his ability. The less generous, is let him do that and he will be out of a job in Nov, we will have a jumbled up squad, and another season is wasted and we face a relegation battle. We will find out in September, so enjoy 5 months off.
  9. oh Bristol Sport get a grip. Pathetic you really are. Liam will not need you to spin a yarn, he will do it himself. He has done himself no harm these last weeks. He will now at least see the first games of 24/25 before he gets fired.
  10. Excellent win and performance. Not watched or followed the game , but Manning has turned his results around . I have minimal interest these days but as a huge critic of Manning , these last games show a change . Good luck to him . He deserves his chance now. Far from my choice going forward but you have to accept results and that suggests he can create something .
  11. Hardly comparable to a few points here and there though is it?
  12. Yet Swindon were relegated 2 divisions 30 plus years ago.
  13. Then Manning is a crap scout. He said he had watched him extensively last season.
  14. This is the essence of the issue. It is perfectly possible to find players willing to play football for the income a club can muster without loss. The problem has been owners over paying players. At all levels. No one is holding a gun to anyones head, yet wage escalation and the search of success has driven the game to the nonsense levels we have today. Clubs need saving themselves from themselves. It is time to introduce squad size and wage caps. How can the top clubs in the coubtry be paying £300m in wages and still losing money. Bonkers stuff. As for City, our numbers do not stack up. The playing wage bill vs turnover (again, where is that turnover really derived from) vs our losses, simply does not compute. We must have very high non playing costs, and/or our turnover is inflated by cross party sales. (Or our sales of pies and beer are on another scale) Would someone buy it? At the right price, of course they would. Would SL stop funding it? Maybe, but what are the outstanding loans to him? £70m plus?
