I left with 30 seconds to go of the 5 added minutes , who knew She meant 10 ffs

But looking at the highlights , the guy doesn't complain much , the Ref gives it straight away and every City player appeals . It seems a good shout , even though I still can't see it.

'She' quite rightly added time for the time being wasted in the added minutes. Best thing to do is wait for the final whistle.

After not having attended a game since Swansea for my own sanity, performances and results have picked up. Some on here and social media believing Manning is in fact the second coming. So against my best judgement, I decided to have another look myself.

Wow, that was dire! It confirmed everything we already knew. This new and improved Manningball was a flash in the pan. That my friends is the football you have to look forward to next season, which will come as no surprise to many.

Good luck all for next season. I shall look forward to a return to the gate in a year or two.

This is a massive loss for the club. I first went to a game at the gate in 1986, and since then there have been lots of downs, and to be fair a few ups. However this news has rocked me...... how will we cope?

    Marginally off topic but....

Are we still going to rename a stand after Nigel Pearson? I'm really concerned that it's just a matter of time before he's only remembered for a couple of seasons of mediocrity.

Nige isnt the kind of person to want a stand named after him. I think a statue would be more appropriate. Certainly like many supporters I am grateful for him overhauling a freefalling, overpaid, bloated car crash of a squad and leaving us in a far better position on and off the pitch. Doing that without us getting relegated is a pretty significant achievement in itself, but doing it with the shambolic governance structure we have in place is pretty much a miricle.

It makes a change to have someone other than Ian as the podcast villain. Flippin heck, what a pile in on Lez who is only expressing his opinions!!

Max was praised in the way he should be by the majority of us but I'm surprised that nobody has commented on the revelation [to us] that this SO important FA Youth Cup semi vs Man City did not warrant the lads going up the day before rather than face a 3+ hour long coach journey on the day of the game!

We also called for some form of communication from the board about just how ambitious we, as a club, are in some end of season statement; will Lansdown come on the pitch to address the fans as he has done in the past at the final home game vs. Rotherham? I think not and if he did he might just say, "just think, were it not for me, we could be just like them [Rotherham] yo-yoing between Championship & League 1"  which would no doubt draw applause from the be careful what you wish for contingent within the fan base.

I welcome new contributors - just message me if you would like to come on

This episode is now on Spotify etc: https://open.acast.com/public/streams/65ae24f47b60d200171f351d/episodes/661237edcfecc10016484177.mp3

The podcast is always good value. I often find myself disagreeing with what is said, but thats part of the fun. I will never understand why some people on this forum feel the need to get personal when they disagree with a contributor as well - even when its Ian who bloked me.on Twitter for calling him mate once 🙂

We definitely need a significant improvement in communication from the hierarchy though. I actually think things are nowhere near as bad on the pitch as a lot of people make out, including the coaching team, but off the pitch we are quite shambolic. I cant think of many other clubs that have a governance structure like ours. It is more aligned to amateur football than a championship club. We wont succeed unless it is sorted out asap.

Keep up the good work with the podcast. I am looking forward to a couple more end of season reviews as well. Ideally one with Richard Latham and Ian Gay going toe to toe....

    Me, myself and I.

As per his interview where he pretty much stated everything was geared to the U18s winning it this season, losing in the semis is a failure no?

Me isnt we, and a semi final defeat isnt a failure. You know that though.

  6. I am absolutely delighted. The way Manning handled the obvious pressure he was under was pretty impressive. I am also really pleased that he has learned from some of his mistakes in recent weeks. I was worried that the wheels were just about to come off, but I am really looking forward to next season now.

I hear that old bore - Warnock is on our forum again? Why? He has failed and walked away from, more clubs than any manager in history. Obviously, when paid by 23, 24, 25 clubs whatever it is, he will have won over some fans but not many..and certainly not me.

And still the old bores about 'Nige' continue on here. Go back to Aug last last year when he promised us a team for promotion, look at his record outside of Leicester and then come to conclude these old boys may have had their year and multiple wages but they just aint the gravy any more.

Our current man(ning) probably isnt either but occasional readers of our forum have remarked how the same old stories just get re-circulated.

Manning is our coach, Tinman is our (super) academy leader and the Lansdowns own the club - none of this is news either. Let's start some current topics FFS and let the dark ages of Warnock's failed job interview with SL and Pearson's lies in 2021/22/23 all be water under the bridge.

In a league with so many of his former employers — he has managed Hull, Leicester, Southampton and Watford, coached Stoke and West Brom, and played for Middlesbrough and Sheffield Wednesday — Pearson believes Bristol City have a squad capable of competing for promotion.

Without Pearson we would have been relegated... as we are probably going to find out next season. We were 8th when we sacked him and based on a similar number of games under Manning we are something like 23rd. I don't ever remember him 'promising' promotion. I do remember him taking a complete mess and slowly making it better.

I know this won’t go down well with some, but currently the worst signing in our squad is Mehmeti. Hasn’t worked out at all.

You are allowed to think what you want. My opinion is that Mehmeti is a long way from being the worst signing in our squad.

  9. There is no easy fix for this mess. No CEO, a DOF who isnt anywhere near qualified for the role, with a head coach who is clearly miles out of his depth. Not to mention the owners son as chairman - what other championship club has such a weak governance structure? The reason I was so fully behind NP, was because he was the only grown up in the club, and I feared that this is how it would be without him.

  10. There are lots of very balanced comments on this subject. However, its a shame that quite a few people cant state an opinion without getting personal. Whatever your thoughts are about BT, LM or JL, they are just people trying to do their best. Just use facts and evidence to form a critique, dont get personal.

For what its worth, Ive been a fan for 40 years and weve mainly always been sh1t, lost to teams we should beat, and made crazy decisions about managers and coaches. We are probably in better shape now than we have been for most of that period but there is no doubt in my mind that we would have been in even better shape had we not sacked NP, and I wont ever forgive the people involved in that decision - I just dont think we need to be abusive to them either.

That is one angle, but they have a history of success or relative success which retains a core fanbase.

    Mix of issues probably.

Funnily enough my Dad is a Wolves fan. He is from Weston-super-Mare and I have no idea why he supports Wolves. I guess as you say success is a part of that, and I think Wolves were successful in the 50s. I was taken to loads of Wolves games before I even realised Bristol City existed as a kid. They only had 2 open sides of the ground in those days but there was a special atmosphere.  Anyway I started supporting City in 1985 when I could.come to games with my mates, and its been a miserable experience ever since 🙂

Maybe with the stadium included, but with their premier league history, id imagine west brom are regarded at least 1 level above us, if not 2. Its always curious to me though, with so many clubs around there, how the likes of west brom and wolves are consistently in and around the premier league with good support, yet we never manage it, our catchment area is huge, which might be the reason we have a high value. actually i think we all know the reason why we never manage it.

The problem is we have too many people that support Liverpool, Spurs, Arsenal and Man United in our catchment area. At least thats how it feels to me. Whereas if you are in the WBA or Wolves catchment area you support WBA or Wolves.

That’s exactly what I’ve done…evaluated Manning.  My own view is that even with a summer he doesn’t improve us to where we want to try to be playing his way.

If he wants to come out and say that actually he needs a bit more pragmatism in his playing style, becayse you can’t be so pure in the Championship, then I think he has a better chance of succeeding.  But if he persists with this, I think he will make us worse.

I see nothing to say he wants to change / adapt.

I don’t think he gets sacked anyway, it’s just what I’d do, that’s all.  I can’t imagine Jon and Steve are canvassing the Tobacco Factory to check whether Fevs view on X / OTIB holds any sway in their decision making! 😉

They should be - Id have you in as Director of Football if I had my way 🙂

Because that’s my opinion. He needs a summer to bring in some of his own players etc. He’s trying to build something. I don’t expect you to agree with me and that’s fine.

There isnt a big summer of change coming though. The Managing Technical Director of Footbal and Everything has clearly said we only need 2 players. A 10 if Twine doesnt stay, and a 9 who can score, run, hold the ball up, and pull rabbits out of a hat - i.e. a player we could never afford. That means its Bird and two lower league players and Seb PH while we lose James and Williams, Wells and Conway.  There is only one way this is going...
