Not at all disagreeing with your well put post.

But given the events of this season in particular, is this not a bit of Karma coming home to roost?

(of course, it isn't, because it's just words on a forum)

The forum is not a true representation of wider fan base.

Even though I agree with the majority, ie he isn’t really fit for the job, I am starting to become a bit uncomfortable with all this. Maybe it is time to slack off.

    It’s embarrassing.

If people want to criticise his performance as Technical Director, I have no problem with that at all.

Predictably for OTIB some of the things said about him recently have been insulting and childish.

Yep. Fair justifiable criticism is reasonable, childish insults isn’t.

You definitely have a point in that some of the language used has been beyond extreme. The guy has genuinely done a ton of good for City in various different positions at the club, and that shouldn't be forgotten. Even if he hadn't, it's been pretty damn brutal.

Can't agree any further than that though. If what has been suggested by those ITK is correct, then the criticism is completely justified. It should probably be delivered with a little less hate though.

Speaking of ITK, is it true that some posters on here went to Brian with targets and to be involved in recruitment only to be knocked back? I wonder if those are the same posters who now are slating him.

I don't care if I get shot down, that's fine, but I am sick of the negativity towards Tinnion.

I love the guy.  Pure and simple, he's a city legend and was in the team for my first four years as a fan and had a left peg I absolutely worshipped.

Anyway, I'm not here to talk about his football legacy, I think it's cruel and unfair the way he's treated on here, quite often as a figure of fun and with his intelligence and communication skills being mocked and belittled, you should be ashamed of yourselves.

He's not our enemy, he's our ambassador, he's a man who's gave most of his working career to our club, even though being a Geordie and having no previous affinity to the club.

We know he's not the best fit for the job he currently has, but he had the ambition to go for it, the same as his stint as a manager, he wasn't up to speed, but he had the ambition and drive to go for it.  I respect and love that.

It's not his fault if he's not right for the job, it's up the people above him if they feel he should be replaced.

Personally, I want him in charge of the academy, that's his best fit and hopefully he will be back there sometime in the future - back within his comfort zone.

But in the meantime, he will definitely be giving everything to the club and deserves much more respect and our support.

You don't have to love Pearson and hate Brian, you can appreciate them both!

And even though I don't agree with Manning being our gaffer, I can see the reasons why he was recruited.

    Agree with most of this.

Well I listened to that with my brother in the car last night.

Somewhere between a car crash and a train wreck of an interview.

My opinion is that Tinnion is very clearly passionate about BCFC and wants us to do well.

But deary me he’s out of his depth.

He’s disclosed undisclosed transfer fees. Thrown Bajic under the bus as being unhappy and possibly wanting out. Told the fans that the U18 cup is more important than the first team. Said that some of the young players had their chance and didn’t take it.

I don’t have anything against BT. But if we are a sane football club those comments make his position untenable.

The flip side is if he was popular fans would be praising him for his honesty.

I think there was more to it than that!

There wasn’t. I spoke to a few agents at the time about him, the one who knew him well said to me that he didn’t have any interest and we couldn’t afford him anyway.

So fans of every club that isn’t a Reading, Shef Weds, or a Blackpool should just shut up and take all sorts of bullshit and lies, year after year. Who is deluded?

Well done for creating a completely irrelevant and made up scenario 👍🏽

He mentioned managing City in an interview on Five Live

No, he mentioned Bristol being a big city, didn’t say anything about the club or being interested in the job.

One up at Bradford. Could Cotts actually do it?

Even if he doesn’t he has shown what a top manager he is at that level.

I do too. Most people I've spoken to have a level of respect for him, a wariness possibly coloured by his media profile but most recognise what he did at Leicester. I don't know anyone who dislikes him or talks about him negatively.

He showed an interest in taking over after Cotts left.

In reality he didn’t show an interest - he was polite about the club as his name popped up due to vacancy but also made it clear he had eyes on bigger roles.

2 minutes ago, Mr Popodopolous said:

He rallied Watford rather well too, pre his bad bout of Covid. Was very harshly sacked there, not like they've gone on to flourish with solid foundations since.

Wasn’t there long enough or achieve enough to label it a success.

Talking of QPR, odd that they made a range of signings without major sales and £44-45m in 2 year losses yet seem okay with FFP...considering what we had to go through.

Other fans of other clubs when a vacancy arises seem fairly lukewarm at best to NP..Derby fans really don't rate him but he had a short, unhappy stint there.

I rate him highly, have a great deal of respect for him.

Massive respect for NP, wish we had him during his spells at Leicester or Hull - realistically his stock was higher than so out of our reach.

Steady fella, they've always paid the bills.

They're a terrible mix of ego and  incompetence but there are far worse owners out there.

Yes they definitely have their issues but to compare to some of these proper scumbags is ott.

  13. Just now, Mr Popodopolous said:

Out of necessity! Tanner is never a wingback, Wilson had his injuries!

Sykes became quite a bit more effective when in the final 3rd in a front 3. When we correctly IMO switched to a 4-3-3 or similar.

So it wasn’t out of necessity then, as you say, Tanner.

  14. Just now, Mr Popodopolous said:

If it wastes Sykes, if it reduces the effectiveness..wjat it McCrorie, Tanner? Bell?

    2 10s as part of a front 3?

Vyner, Dickie and one of Atkinson or Naismith would he far from terrible but would we have the right component parts around them? Sykes at WingBack would be poor, 2 10s would Bell be among them?

Selling Conway for a big striker..?A

It's not specifically just formation though, it just feeds into the wider picture.

Then if you do play the back 3 you need an ability to switch beyween back 3 and 4 in-game IMO.

Again, opinion presented as fact, there is no evidence that Sykes at WB would be poor, in fact NP played him there regularly, maybe you know more than our ex manager.

  15. 1 minute ago, Mr Popodopolous said:

It just seems like a mess.

Going to a back 3 will only take us backwards, we won't have the resources for a whole overhaul yet I have this horrible feeling that they will double down and try to (as far as Financial Rules allow) prove themselves right.

I'm struggling to muster enthusiasm and optimism for the medium term. I don't think the squad is terrible, but needs some next level quality as well as playing to strengths and the structure is awful.

There is no evidence that a back 3 would take us backwards, just an unfounded opinion.

If Manning has anything about him, he should be considering his own position imo. Imagine working for this lot

This is OTT on another level, hardly Reading, Sheff Wed or the Oystens.

As the host of the pod I'd just like to interject by making reference to the phrase "playing like that" in the context of 16 wins by that scoreline.

We would NOT win 16 games, home or away, "playing like that". My interpretation of what Ian said, rightly or wrongly, was winning 16 scrappy games 1-0 isn't pretty to watch but might be effective. What made it worse on Saturday is that the Swans were passive themselves and far from the game being played with the passion of a local derby it was akin to a poor pre-season friendly.

Would fans have been happy if we battered them, hitting the post/bar, drawing several good saves from the keeper as they sat in only to lose 0-1 to a breakaway goal. That would have drawn the phrase from many "we'll win more than we lose playing like that".

In 6 months time no-one will remember the detail of Sunday's game nor how we were battered by Coventry in October but stole [?] a 1-0 win.

What I do remember is 6 years ago being 3-0 up at half time against Sunderland but drawing 3-3, a further nail in that coffin of collapse in the 2nd half of 2017/18

I would like to hear more from Mark as he is by far the most sensible and realistic of the contributors. He also doesn’t fall into the trap of providing an opinion as fact which others do. I find both Ian and Tom present their view points as fact but neither actually really understand the basics. Just my view.

The other Dave on the week before and Mark are more well reasoned and that for me results in a better podcast.

  18. Not nearly bad as people are making out on here, but he isn’t really saying much either - Dickie 600k Cornick 500k - other than that learnt little - not the disaster some are making out but not inspiring either.
