Like many others I am very moved by your post and have joined this forum briefly just to offer a message of support.
The episode must have been so stressful for you and your sons and I would suggest not beating yourself up too much about the way you handled it. I doubt too many of us, despite being very quick to judge, would have done much better.
The inconvenience experienced by other fans in the stadium is insignificant compared to the difficulty you faced. To put your “crime” into context, we saw the other pitch invader at the bar after the game and he was being treated as a minor celebrity. It’s safe to say he won’t be losing any sleep about his indiscretion, which unlike yours was frivolous and premeditated.
I hope you can move forward with a clear conscience and chalk this up as just another daily challenge you have dealt with. The most important thing in that moment was to be there for your son - which you were.
