  1. Barton trial now being reported in the post, registered at 17.33 and in the sports section. Can't help thinking that if this were the City manager, it would have been a leading front page story and not listed at 5.30 pm on a Sunday, in the sports section. As it's also by the Rovers reporter, it'll be seen by even less people.

So loyal they can't even fill their ground to attendance even when covid didn't happen.

But they are always the victim "we didn't get a capacity crowd because the balloon fiesta is on" (yeah for good reason because Balloon fiesta and city playing at home would be a nightmare) "England are playing at the same time so obviously people will watch that" or like the little brother who will always try and one up you like the rovers fan who went on the Man City forum to say that no one liked us and that rovers were liked more by other teams.

I just don't get their readiness to push their devotion to the club and, their complete ignorance of their total lack of anything of note, in success terms. It smacks of sadomasochism without the sex.

  3. Just had a nice weekend in Torquay, which was all good until the last song on the last night and the entertainer asked if there were any requests. Yes cried a few window lickers from down the back, play "goodnight Irene". They then continued to sing the horrible dirge for a couple of minutes. I stopped one as he passed and reminded him that this famous song was stolen from Plymouth at around the last time they had any real success, in the fifties. He replied, "we're more loyal that City fans, even City fans say that". I corrected him saying that the word you wanted was dillusional, not loyal. He left the hotel this morning sporting his best gas T shirt. What the **** do they have to be so proud about that makes them tell the world who they are? It must be in their nature to thrive on adversity and, being a crap little club that shyte on everyone connected with them, unless they praise their famous quarters, must suit their persona.

Absolute mess of a club with the highest proportion of deluded fans one could ever want to meet.

One day it will dawn on them that their support really isn't that big.

    Hopefully when it's too late.

They are down to bare bones now and it makes interesting viewing and much speculation, to see how far Wael will go with actually putting his own money in to prop up the club, before having to sell the rugby ground. In recent times, the assets have been used as security, how long will that be the case? They've been lucky so far in receiving funds for players that has topped them up.

Shrewsbury get between 5,500 and 8,000 in a newish 10000 all seater stadium.

Similar crowds, much better stadium. In a higher division.

Bigger that the gas then. :)

They have a population in Shrewsbury of 72,000, which is probably higher than Rovers share of Bristol, with it's population of 466,000. That's sharing out the rest between City, Bristol Rugby, The flyers, City women and the supporters of the plough and windmill skittle team.

No way it's as high as 8,000, not with the amount of terracing that it has.

Adding up their stands seats on various sites, it comes to around 2,800. Football Manager (which is relatively reliable) has it as 2,700. I'd imagine 3,500 seats at an absolute maximum to be honest, less than our entire smallest stand.

The figure of 8,000 was probably given them by a gashead and they never knew of the pathological liars reputation.

  7. I like the post article claiming this bit of banter has backfired, really?

I would say it had exactly the desired effect and resulted in some bitter and twisted gashead, getting his knickers in such a twist that he's now got to buy more paint to finish off his hallway. And they also describe him as brave, 11.23 pm, in the dark, pub closed and about twenty seconds to pull up and pour. Bet he put wet paint footprints into his car as well.

  8. I'm struggling with my thoughts at the moment. I really feel that the best thing for football in this city, would be for them to disappear completely. Then they could be added to the list of things Bristol had and lost. I can't stand the club and the way it's portrayed in the BRFC friendly local media.

They have done nothing to deserve what they think they deserve, as in someone else building a stadium for them and they have been an embarrassment to our city with their move away to Bath while blaming our city for all their ill fortune when in reality, they have nobody but themselves and their directors who've bled them dry, to blame. Pathological liars.

We know how they tried to steal Ashton Gate from us while claiming we were the immoral ones and, how they succeeded in stealing the rugby ground. I have to admit that I feel the pain for their decent supporters but, I'd have felt even more pain personally if they weren't here providing that little bit of comfort watching their demise, during what must rank as one of our worst ever seasons. So I'm grateful for that little contribution from the dark side to ease my mental state.

So for the moment I'm glad they're here but, in the future they can **** right off and sink into oblivion.

It's surprising they haven't made a statement on Scotland's move for indyref2, maybe they are just waiting for the outcome of the local elections. Have they thrown their weight behind Marvellous Marvin yet?

I expect they are throwing their considerable support behind Marvin, as he's doing his best to get them a stadium built, using council land around the fruit market as an incentive to the developers to include BRFC in their plans, or so I'm led to believe.

cant believe they have gone a whole day without doing anything stupid .

That's not actually a correct statement. You should state that, " I can't believe that they've gone a whole day without doing anything stupid, that we know of".

They could just as easily ordered a new large screen form an unknown company, without having the fixings for it. They could have ordered new developments at the rugby ground that no other team has spent more on. They could announce that they're going to move to a new stadium within the next two years. They could have announced that they're now the richest club in the lower divisions and on a par with WHU, Norwich City and Burton Albion. We just don't know as their media department are probably just mulling over the press announcements.

About the same percentage of stadium capacity as we sold.

I believe their season ticket sales are boosted by the the sale of standing tickets for £285 for an adult with the dearest being £320 standing. Our cheapest Adult ticket being £366. Would we have sold even more at those lower prices?

All the s*gs appear to think Private Widdle is the evil that infests their club. I for one disagree, I think he`s doing a wonderful job and he should be kept on with a pay rise.

Agreed, he can't be all bad. After all, the players the previous two managers had at their disposal reached heights this present manager could only have dreamed of.

  13. Apologies if I missed anybody posting the following. Yesterday morning radio Bristol ran a story about Wael Al Quadi and the mistakes the club had made in recruitment of players and managers. He quoted "I really don’t like to put blame on anybody," he said. "I did take full responsibility for our plight, but the appointment of managers and recruitment are two big areas we really have to rectify and not make these mistakes again in the future."

It seemed a strange thing to say, as it didn't exclude the existing manager, unless they are planning to appoint yet another manager, or it was done to provoke a response from the existing manager. It was also a  very public criticism of the recruitment side of things ie: Wriddington?

Having said that, he did praise Barton for being on a different level, as is the whole club, basement level.

Expect she is familiarising herself with the new sewer works around Ashton Gate.

Hopefully they'll require rebuilding before they're needed, those Elizabethan drains will require that at some point, just like the Victorian sewers are being renewed.

Was that 'gas girl' ?‍♂️ who just had her vaccination at Ashton Gate on Points West really wearing a ? shirt?

I ask myself why do they do such things.

Are they boasting about how much better their club is?

Do they do it to get a reaction from the doctors and nurses?

Do they do it to prove they exist?

Do they do it as a dare?

Do they think it will upset us shitheads?

Or, are they just dumb as ferk?

In six months time (October) it's the 40th anniversary off when we came soooo close to losing City.

Rovers tried getting their hands on Ashton Gate on the cheap and their fans have ever since claimed we should have had to form a new club starting at the bottom of the pyramid and work our way back up.

I've just gone back over the league tables for the last forty seasons; in that time Rovers have finished above City on just EIGHT occasions. This fact alone suggests to me, if not proves, they can not consider themselves our equals or betters.

In that forty years, they've tried all sorts to get someone to build them a stadium, or give them some land. Blamed everyone and everything when it's gone wrong and, even formed a political party to fight the local elections in "Bristol", while they were paying the city of Bath their business rates. and blaming Bristol for their troubles. They have also done everything in their power to stop our club moving away from them, from opposing our new stadium, the superstore at AG, furnishing opponents with information, to not supporting the WC bid. They are a stain on our city, as much as those " anarchy type protesters" who choose violence against the authorities. I'd also go as far as to say that, some of those protesters, even looked and dressed like gasheads.

Whenever they bring 1982 up, I always without fail correct them. Even some of our supporters believe we went bankrupt back then. A deal was brokered and accepted by the creditors to "accept" 20p in the pound for outstanding debt. A new company was formed, which took over all assets, except players of worth like Mick Harford and Jan Moller, who were sold to pay those debts. That new company also took over the registration of the football club, so effectively, it was a takeover by a newly formed company. Not too much different than whenever a company gets taken over, which is what I expect will happen to them and, this time the owner will have to swallow their own debts, before selling assets to replace that loss.

Because the Mem is on prime real estate that can be sold for a decent wedge and they hope that they can be given a piece of land for the project free of charge or paid for by OPM.

That's about the correct scenario, along with, not wanting to over develop the Colony, as adjacent land could get PP for housing, making the Colony more valuable.

Anyone else get the feeling that Wally has only funded the club for the last year because he was hoping to ride off in to the distance with his pockets full of cash, a vice president role and the club under new ownership?

Yes and hailed a hero by the blue hordes.
