  1. I think he must read from a card and doesn't have the nouse to adjust to what is actually happening around him. Take the Lisa Fillingham tribute. As soon as her photo appeared on the screen, everyone, fans, players and ref began clapping and continued for around the two minutes it took for her life story to be read out. Downsy then said 'there will now be a minutes applause which will begin and end on the referees whistle" Ref blows his whistle and that roar goes up that signifies the end of such a tribute and the players break away to prepare. Not necessarily his fault but it happened with the Chris Garland one exactly the same.
  2. so that suggests to me that they know the main PA is crap.
  3. To be honest, a certain poster hss been harping on for years about the PA in the Dolman, but the South Stand has generally been not too bad, but this season it is completely inaudible. How it ever passes safety regulations is mind boggling.
  4. When the ref left the field after Bellys goal, and it was obvious something had happened to stop play, an announcement was made over the PA and I honestly did not understand a word of it from the South Stand. It struck me then that if this had been an emergency of any sort, we would all be none the wiser. The club should be very concerned at this.
  5. I would actually start with him Saturday. We are likely to be under the cosh for large parts of it so his hold up play could be vital if we are to play on the break.
  6. So I came to work today forgetting my mug for my Yorkshire brew, so I thought I would stop by North Street and buy a new one. Got to the famous Lion Stores and attempted to enter to be met by a woman blocking my way demanding to know what I wanted. She wouldn't let me pass until I told her what I was after, and then directed me to the mug shelf. Terrible customer service in what is now a complete shithole of a shop. Anyone know if this is the same old bat who used to run the second hand shop on the opposite side until it shut several yeats ago? She had the same approach to making a profit.
  7. Its the one by where the road slipped and has just been repaired. Opposite the McColls shop.
  8. Cumberland Road is one way now as well, with a bus gate at the SS Great Britain turning. Outbound traffic only.
  9. Yes but their argument is that the airport is signposted on the M4 as coming up the Portway, with no signage saying the charge will be incurred until half just before Bridge Valley.
  10. When all is said and done and worst case happens, it's £9 so when you tot up the cost of an away day, its not a huge amount. I read somewhere about Welsh people saying they will never fly from Bristol again as the journey over incurs the charge. I mean, come on, honestly ?
  11. I found a pair of quite expensive sunglasses a few years ago and handed to a steward. A few days later someone on here was asking if anyone had found any as the club hadn't had any handed in. Always get the number of the steward you hand things to.
  12. Well its 30 seconds per sub for starters, 9 second half subs is 4 and a half, plus the two injuries that the physio came on for. That's before you even factor in any timewasting etc. I would have expected, under new guidelines to have been nearer 7 .
  13. Strange thing is, that if we hadn't scouted him and signed him, he would probably be playing in the Premier League now.
  14. Did he go to Louis Carey's house for a BBQ last night?
  15. After the women's WC I thought refs were going to add on extra time for pretty much anything resulting in 8,9,10 minutes extra. Today we had 9 second half subs, at least 2 injuries where the physio came on and we had 4 minutes added on.
  16. Problem is it kicked off that God awful Zak Vyner song.
  17. John , I have a huge collection of programmes dating back to 1970 with almost as many away ones as home. I am pretty much ready to part with them , however back in the day I used to write the team changes in the programme. Would this type of fair be the place to sell them at say 50 each or whatever. There are a couple of specials, for example signed by the team, and one from the 1950s, but they are just gathering dust in the loft.
  18. Wouldn,t it look great with a red badge though?
  19. Without wanting to sound "ist" of any kind, they did want equality.
  20. Didn't the Fair Play winners of the Prem get a place in Europe at one point?
