The Robins take on the Swans with KO 1230 on Sunday. They are immediately below us in the table with 43 points.

At their place we produced a very positive display to come away with three points, NP post match: https://www.bcfc.co.uk/video/pearson-delighted-with-swansea-win/

    Highlights: https://youtu.be/LclMHjGlcPE?si=roVxzaoQilhip0eV

Last time out it finished 1-1, https://youtu.be/de1bFLjA0cI

They lost their manager to Southampton in the closed season, https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/65652047 and replaced him with Michael Duff, https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/65985775 who was at Barnsley. Duff played at every level from the eighth tier to the Championship before reaching the Premier League at 31.

They signed Heart of Midlothian forward Josh Ginnelly on a three-year deal. Ginnelly, 26, was a free agent having turned down a new contract with Scottish Premiership Hearts.

They also signed of out-of-contract Exeter City defender Josh Key. Right-back or wing-back Key, 23, was a target for Swansea last season.

They also added Excelsior left-back Nathan Tjoe-A-On on a three-year deal for a fee thought to be close to £300,000.

They signed Josh Tymon, Kristian Pedersen, Bashir Humphreys and Jamal Lowe on a frantic deadline day.

In January they signed Brazilian winger Ronald for what was understood to be a seven-figure fee.

    Head-to-head record

    Won: 31

    Lost: 24

    Drawn: 23

They are 10th in the form league with three wins, two defeats and a draw in their last six games (10 points), we are 17th with two wins and four defeats (6 points).

In fact Swansea are on their best run since early October having taken seven points from their last three Championship games. On Wednesday they drew 1-1 away at Watford.

Keith Stroud is the referee. He will be assisted by Sam Lewis and Jonathan Hunt, while Joshua Smith will be the fourth official.

In early December they sacked head coach Michael Duff after less than six months in charge. He departed after a run of one win in eight matches and with Swansea sitting 18th in the table. The 45-year-old had endured a difficult spell as Swansea boss, with the club struggling to find consistency. In January they appointed Notts County boss Luke Williams as their new head coach on a three-and-a-half-year contract. He managed our under 23s between 2017-19.

    Fun facts

In 1823 the first ever human fossil was discovered near Swansea in the Gower Peninsula. The Red Lady of Paviland (who is actually a man) dates back over 33,000 years and was dyed by the red ochre in the surrounding rocks.

The phrase ‘Swansea Jack’ comes from a dog called Jack who saved 27 people from drowning the River Tawe during the 7 years of his life (1930-1937).

Famous people from the city include poet Dylan Thomas, entertainer Sir Harry Secombe, actress Catherine Zeta-Jones, politician Michael Heseltine, Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams, footballers John Charles, Ivor Allchurch and John Hartson, actress Joanna Page, 18th-century dandy Beau Nash, broadcaster Wynford Vaughan-Thomas, artist Vernon Watkins, writers Russell T Davies and Iris Gower, and rock musician Spencer Davis.

Swansea City became the first team from Wales to win promotion to the English Premier League when they beat Reading 4-2 in the Championship Play-off Final at Wembley in 2011.

In 2000, Swansea City’s Jamaican striker Walter Boyd hit the headlines for receiving a red card before play restarted, after he came on as a substitute, for striking a Darlington player.

Kevin Cullis holds the record for Swansea City’s shortest-lived manager. His spell in charge lasted just seven days in February 1996. He took charge of just one-and-a-half-games, after it was reported senior players took control of a half-time team talk in just his second game.

There are two possible origins of Swansea’s ‘Jacks’ nickname. One is the reputation of local “Jack Tars” in the early 19th century, while the other is the black retriever dog called Swansea Jack who rescued no fewer than 27 people from drowning in the River Taw and Swansea Docks during the 1930s.

    Famous fans include:

    Catherine Zera-Jones

    Michael Douglas

    Brett Johns - MMA fighter

    Enzo Maccarinelli - Former boxer

    Michael Sheen - Actor

    Jay Harris - Boxer

Players who have represented both clubs include Yannick Bolasie, Jamie Paterson, Liam Walsh, Lee Trundle, Korey Smith, Tammy Abraham and Ashley Williams.

Said early on, and I feel even more strongly now, LM is an excellent coach and will coach/manage at the highest level imo, but not with us.

    Square peg, round hole.

    In other words, shite

Sense of honesty. As people have rightfully said, LM saw this job as a bigger and better step for his career. I am sure he came to us with every good intention. What I think he didn't factor in at any stage was BT involvement. I think he is pulling all the strings at the moment, he can baffle JL with his football knowledge, he can hoodwink academy players with his involvement generally and he can dictate to LM on a daily basis as he can probably opt when to pull the plug. I don't think it's rocket science either that certain players have had enough, they perform in the big games in the hope of a move and could really care about the lower matches as they don't see their futures at lower clubs. Tonight will be a good example I feel. I was of the opinion that NP time was probably up and I felt a young manager with good coaches supporting him might be the answer, what i didn't expect was BT becoming the background manager in what really now is his 2nd spell in charge.

answer. Get rid  of BT now, give LM the chance to show us if he is capable without others interference. See  if he can manage and coach the players in a way that they support him , their team mates and the fans.

LM is the problem not BT. To put it bluntly as a manager and motivator he is shite.

People who go to the effort of putting their dogs poo into a poo bag BUT then just chuck the bag in a bush or on the floor, or anywhere but a bin! Like dog poo anywhere is bad, but dog poo in a plastic bag that’ll instead take hundreds of years to decompose…WHY?!?

Completely unrelated, people who when they can see my little girl running to press the button at a pedestrian crossing so she can stop the cars, and can hear me saying something along the lines of “go on then, press the button” BUT they still just go and press the button themselves! :grr:

I apologise, I didn't mean to do it ...................... on both counts !!!

  5. The situation regarding my Wife has been shared on here a few times over the past 12 months.  This time last year she was admitted to a Care Home and was all but bedridden. She remained for 8 months.  In Oct 2023 I took the decision to bring her home because she had worked so hard to try and overcome her problems and I felt she deserved the opportunity to try and lead a normal life again. She has done really well with her determination to overcome all.

Today I booked us a Christmas cruise around the Med starting on 23rd Dec for 8 days.  Would never have envisaged this 12 months ago and in all honesty doubted she would still be with us at this time.  10 months to go I know but this has given her another goal to focus on and work towards. Fingers crossed.

You seem to have lived everywhere, I'm surprised you ever had time to visit Ashton Gate , which game was it ?  🤣

I have indeed been something of a wanderer (not Wolves I hasten to add) Lived in Oz, Ireland, Morocco, Saudi, UK and France. Also was a regular visitor to USA for work (about every 6 weeks) but don't hold that against me. Try and visit AG when possible which isn't as often as I would like.

That's a nice story mate...I can see why.

I spent 6 months in Oz a few years back. Did the East Coast and based myself in Coolangatta so I could learn to surf.

I came across a band I'd never heard of, well at least they don't get airtime in the UK.

This became my ' anthem ' from that time.

Yep, heard of them and quite enjoyed.  A lot of Oz music back in the day was very underated IMO.

I lived in Noosa on the sunshine coast for yonks as well as Nambour, Macleay Island & Toowoomba.

When I lived in Brisbane I worked for a company based in Melbourne. I spent all my time travelling as my area covered Queensland, NSW, Victoria, South Australia, Northern Territory and Papua New Guinea. Would fly home on a Friday, play football on a Saturday & rugby league on a Sunday before heading off again.  This song became my anthem.

Yeah I loved Icehouse, Iva Davis is a genius imo. GSL is probably Australia's National Anthem now.

Glad you were at Wembley. Awesome.

I know Jimmy Barnes...did a great track with INXS. Good Times. Got the 12".

Also liked a band called Noise works.

    100% correct with Good Times.

Ah Jesus, we need to go for a pint.  Noiseworks are fab also.  Another was the Hoodoo Gurus who I shared a flight with from Brisbane to Cairns that my liver regrets to this day.

Yes I have seen it mate. I'm also on the Live Baby Live DVD. I was right at the front. What an amazing gig that was. Everyone in the moment, not a phone in sight.

    Wow...ACDC in a pub...amazing.

I used to be into Icehouse as well.

    Did you ever see them?

Not sure if you have heard of Cold Chisel but they became Oz legends. Worked with their lead singer Jimmy Barnes for a while in Port Adelaide. Was at one of their first gigs at the Flamingo Ballroom in Christies Beach. Next time was as support to Peter Frampton on his Comes Alive tour.
