About 45secs before the first goal, a throw in was given to Man City (Dolman side) that was clearly ours... the Linesman waited for the ref to give it to MC before he raised his flag to agree (totally standard)
Said this to my mate at the time. Ultimately City needed to defend it better (easy ah?!) but it was such a simple decision to get right and it was clear the assistant had no idea what was going on.
The one on the Dolman stand was shocking all night and Marriner just seemed content to give any 50/50s to Man C and keep them happy for next time he refs them.
I think the penalty could have been given but don't really have many complaints it wasnt. Just thought, ignoring that one decision, they were annoyingly poor without too much controversy (is that a contradiction?)

I find it strange that we're not allowed to take weapons into the stadium (probably sensible) yet the coffee/pasty stand in the Dolman are allowed to serve pastys basically made out of cement.

I did quite like the Everywhere song they sang throughout the game!
Yeah I thought it sounded decent having a song/chant that keeps going and doesn't fade out after a few seconds. Definitely helps create an atmosphere

Anyone know if its possible to 'upgrade' an u19 ticket to a full adult for tomorrow? Got an u19 that can't be used now so can give it to someone but he's very much older than 19

It is on red button but I don't know about sky go I'm afraid

May have missed this in the comments but to get out of the position he was in was good, but there's a lot of others professionals who could do that at our standard. But to do that and then play that pass.... my god that was special.
He's a very very special talent.

Great result for The Heef last night, made even more incredible considering the perceived gulf between the two clubs both on and off the pitch.
More imporrtantly theres a cheque for £1100 on its way tto BS30 which (at that level) goes along way to help keep the club afloat.
Plus whatever we get for the next round

Yes, played very well, it was not as one sided as the score would suggest......very good game.
BTW Ryley Towler was in the queue in front of me to get in .
Yeah tbf we scored 2 in the last 5 minutes or so.
Thought it was a really good advertisement for local football and had good battles against the majority of those players over last 2 seasons (Keynsham last season). Although that's FA Cup and semi final of les Phillips so pleased with that!
I like Mangotsfield. Not necessarily been run the best over last few years but think things are changing. May take them a while to get back to precise levels tho.
Would be good to see any of you locals for our games when possible

Is the wider point though not just about the sons and daughters who go along as City fans and what their parents are happy to tolerate, and not even about verbally abusing a grown adult (and people can have their own thoughts on that) but directing abuse at a young kid and calling her dad a peado?! I mean, that's pretty moronic isn't it??

Ffs people can't we just get back to talking football on here?
The constant slagging off, verbal abuse and general nit picking is tiresome and tbh, in my opinion, some of it is borderline bullying.
People are slagging off posters saying they must have issues etc but then carry on anyway. People, from both sides of a conversation just seem intent to argue, belittle and slag people off. I would image most people came on here to have/read a semi sensible debate but it's turned into a poisonous/pathetic topic between grown men/women from the comfort of their keyboards.
It's ******* pathetic.
Think the mods should just lock this thread as it's gone sooooooo far past its original purpose and it's become far to personal

This forum is blooming hilarious

I think (and I've not fully read the article) that if it changes to 5 subs, and let's be honest, it will, then it should be restricted to 3 changes plus an additional at HT if that makes sense? So can change 5 players but have to make the changes in a maximum of 3 stoppages during 90 mins game time

Hmm.
Obviously, I have no idea what happened or what was said after the final whistle, but it would seem (unless the comment was from a supporter) the first yellow card was warranted.
I assume that if a supporter had made the comment there would have been no yellow card, and it seems that the referee had no idea who made it, hence his comment ‘You’ll have to do’.
Out of interest, what would have happened if the comment had been made by LL and a nearby supporter, aware of the likely penalty, came forward, apologised and told the referee that he was the culprit - given that, to a non-Bristolian, all accents sound the same?
I think it would come down to how confident the ref or assistant ref is that it came from the bench. But that is a potential issue

Who’d you manage?
Would rather not say tbh. Have been assistant manager at two clubs and have had to manage at both due to the actual managers having disagreements with officials in previous games.

Just to add, there were supporters stood around the dugouts as well, so entire possible it wasn't made by one of the club staff
And that's a fair point and especially in NLGs where fans can be literally be stood next to a managers. It does appear from his statement that he's accepted it likely did come from the dugout.
As someone who's been in management in Western league, I'd be making it clear that if I'm to get booked for someone saying something, I want that someone to be me and not someone sat on the bench behind me. (That's a lot of 'someone's')

Firstly, it is years since I played football at any level, and I confess that the rules seem to have changed so much that I have no idea whether or not LL deserved his first yellow card.
He states that he was booked due to a comment that came from the dugout and suggests that, even though he didn’t make said comment, he was booked as he was the manager and, presumably, as the culprit couldn’t be identified, he was responsible (as manager) for the comment even though he didn’t make it.
You state that LL was booked in accordance with the rules of the game, but is my interpretation correct?
Thanks in advance for your response.
Yes mate, that's the rule now.

So he's upset with the ref because he, Lee, doesn't know the rules of the game. Then at FT went and told the ref he has no respect for him (because he was rightly booked according to the rules of the game), swore at the ref, then got upset because the ref, rightly, basically threatened him with a red card rather than actually sending him off (initially). And now he's trying to justify it instead of holding his hands up and accepting full responsibility. Brilliant.

When you went to Hamburg did you go to a Hamburg game or st Pauli?
Hamburg mate. Was against Frankfurt (I think). We got chatting to a frankfurt fan in our hotel on the day of the game and he was trying to get us to meet up with him and his mates after the match. He's a police officer but said his wife and bosses 'let' him have a month a year of 'fun' where he meets up with other fans. We were sat right by the away fans and he was the bloke who was there with the loudspeaker thing getting everyone going. We decided against meeting him.
Edit - he was a good bloke tho and gave our Stag a signed vintage shirt from their record signing player.

Hertha Berlin has been my favourite . Haven’t been to Union yet but the Olympic Stadium has an amazing atmosphere and great history surrounding it. Great architecture as well if that’s your thing. Easy to get to from Bristol and Berlin’s an incredible city.
Went to Berlin many years ago but probably didn't get to appreciate the city as much as I should have. Hertha could be a good shout tho

Anyone got any recommendations on European grounds/matches to visit once travel restrictions are lifted?
Not discounting the main obvious grounds of the big clubs but also happy to have other recommendations.
Ideally flights from Bristol on budget airlines.
I've relatively recently been to Hamburg which was very good. Would like to go to some of the German grounds (been to Schalke old ground but new one is possibility).
Anyone got any thoughts or stories if trips?
