West Bromwich Albion away match thread
Northern Red replied to Jerseybean's topic in The Havanatopia Match Day Archive
Think back over recent years to the number of teams who've come to AG and done that to us, leading to similar comments from our fans. It was an exercise in how to win away from home. -

This is the thing over the last season and a bit, even when we're not in good form and not playing well, we've never been too far away from getting a win from somewhere. The up and down nature of performances and results is frustrating, but there is a tendency to overreact and catastrophise every setback. -
As someone said in the match thread, people might not notice him much when he's there, but we sure as hell notice when he isn't.

Unnervingly comfortable. Holding the ball near the corner flag for 3 minutes is most unlike us. -

We played our rearranged game last week against Preston, most of the others from that weekend are being played next midweek. -

Proper away win that. Very professional job in the second half. Thought Sykes was outstanding, and Matty James makes such a difference to how we play. -

It's ******* embarrassing. I'm genuinely convinced that there's some who actively revel in it, they always have done, always will, regardless of manager, players, form or league position. And if they're proved wrong, not one of the miserable ***** will come on and hold their hands up. -
There's something about going to Anfield that gets to Man City every time. One win there since 2003 and that was when there was no crowd in because of Covid. And their defence is a bit shit when they actually have to defend.

That and the lack of infrastructure and money.

What a load of shite. Sorry, someone had to.

Yep, he's on just less than a goal a game. Haaland's form is overshadowing what everyone else is doing.
-
I see we're at the stage of "ooh, Rovers have had a couple of wins, they'll be above us soon", that happens at least once a season, every season since 2001.

One of the more obvious penalties you'll see.

Yeah and you and the others like you wanted him out too. Just like you'll hate the next one after a few bad results, and the one after that, and so on. -

I assume this is what's happened here?

So you can start slagging that one off as soon as he loses a few games too? Because that's what happens isn't it? -

It's Conway's turn then. Some going for a 20 year old in his first extended period of first team football. -

Brendan Rodgers did it years ago: “It is great for the public here at Sunderland to see us,” said manager Brendan Rodgers. “They must have been wondering what this team everyone is talking about are all about and now they have seen. We were wonderful." Sunderland had just beaten his Swansea team 2-0.
