Before Christmas, Leicester beat teams on reputation.

Then everyone realised they weren't that good.

Funny how their manager hasn't been shortlisted for Championship Manager of the Season - a Sunday League manager would have been expected to get this squad promoted. The bloke's a fraud!

    Certainly no Liam Rosenior..

    1). Rob Dickie

    3). Bob Dickie

5). The centre half we signed from QPR.

Can't see past the big man. However, I wonder if this time next year my top 2 will be Hayden Roberts & Robert Haydon's - think he's really going to shine in 24/25.

Certainly been impressive in the last few games & I keep forgetting that he’s still only 21, so as you say he’s certainly got a bright future.

Beyond Dickie it is actually harder to pick 5 than it should be.

Max’s form & his 100% availability (at a time when we have no senior cover) puts him in it, Knight has also played in every game & has Weimann like fitness levels, Tanner, Vyner, Pring & James all have made decent contributions & Sykes too has done ok (though arguably not quite as well as his first season), Williams has greatly improved his availability & had decent spells.

It is striking how bar Sykes all of these players are either defenders or more defensively minded midfielders & clearly shows where we all know we’re badly lacking as a squad.

  3. Not at his best night, but for a squad that basically relies on the same 17 players to play in all the games, he’s been a decent contributor this season.

Certainly should have scored from Twine’s sublime pass, but if he was going to pick a game to miss a sitter then one we win 5-0 is a decent choice.

Don’t take it as gospel but I think he was caught on video taking the mick out of disabled people? Pretty sure his brother is a prem ref as well

    Think that’s right.

I worked with him about 20 years ago, knew he wasn't all there!

So he’s of an age where he’s been working for over 20 years & he’s on his own…

    Can’t possibly think why.

    I assumed it was a teenager’s bedroom.

He took an age to give the first pen! He was excellent.

    Which was excellent.

He thought about it & made the right decision, loads jump in & give it straight away & are wrong (Ipswich away).

Absolutely nothing to do with the penalties, one of the best refs I've seen in a long time - was so consistent in how he judged things and always tried to let play go and only bring it back if the advantage wasn't there. Was never too fussy, cards were a last resort, and didn't want to be centre of attention. Looked like a normal bloke too rather than a failed footballer with an ego. More refs with this approach please.

    Spot on.

Didn’t he leave the game & come back down the leagues after some disciplinary issue?

Clearly a class above & is an actual Prem ref, not like some who are.

I assume there must be some financial penalty if we don't name him in the matchday squad, because there's more chance of Bajic coming on as an outfield player than him kicking another ball for us.

Based on the QPR game I’d prefer it if he did..

Let’s face it, if you don’t come on when we’re 4 up with 5 minutes to play, you’re not coming on at all.

Completely off topic but delighted Knight-Lebel got those minutes instead & convinced that might have been done to give Andy King a last few minutes at the Gate too.

Been watching city home and away for 45-50 years and in all that time have only ever heard one racial comment by a city fan and it was a one off comment away at Crystal Palace about 20 years ago ,

im not saying it doesn’t or didn’t happen but in my experience have not witnessed anything apart from the one time above

Wish I could say that was the case.

Remember Junior Bent getting racially abused on his debut for us in 1990 at Preston from so called City fans.

Absolutely not an isolated incident, comments about West Brom being “the pride of Pakistan” a recent example.

Cue someone saying “that’s not racist, it’s banter”..

"Easter Lights" aren't even a thing. One gets the impression Lee Anderson is utterly ignorant of British traditions.

That sentence didn’t need “of British traditions”.
    It could have ended there.

One thing that I don't think has been mentioned about them, but is regularly brought up for our games .... real figures .

    You love to see it.

    They’re slowly dying.

Reckon they’ll still go ahead with their plans for their main stand this summer?

    No, me neither.

  12. At half time (2-0 down) Rovers made a triple substitution & brought on three 35 year olds in Martin, Sinclair & Wilson.

On 70 minutes their final substitution was to bring on a 33 year old right back in Jack Hunt.

Presumably this is their particular version of planning for next season?

Looks more like Last of the Summer Wine to me.

    They’re ******, aren’t they?

One or two have been against him from the beginning.

What you notice a lot of, if you’ve ever taken a gander on there, is that whenever anything is brought up about his latest pathetically embarrassing attempts to get attention, his idiotic fans still try to defend ‘daddy’ by suggesting people “move on” as they can’t bear to see him ridiculed.

As a fanbase so many of them really showed their true colours when he was there. That stain will be hard to remove for them.

Yep- it’s total nonsense to claim there were “loads” against him.

A few (fair play to them) stopped going & were vocal, but most were fully behind him, saw him as a “name” & part of their latest (failed) attempt to get back to the Championship.

"So much for the hyperbolic fears of some regarding relegation a few weeks back."

It is easy to be wise after the event, but did many fans honestly expect us to pick up 7 points out of 9 in the past three games? I certainly didn't, if we had only picked up 0 or even 1 or 2 points from those games, we would still need to look over our shoulder.

    No.

However the scenario being portrayed on here by some was we might not get another point with around 10 games to go, which was frankly ridiculous.

We were never seriously in the relegation picture, no matter how much some said we were.

Saying what might have happened if something we now know didn’t happen had taken place, is really the definition of pointless.

Tighter defence is what that shows. The Dickie effect.

Yep, also pretty much the same players around him all season.

Keeper who has played every single game, Tanner, Pring & Vyner have all had decent seasons availability wise too.

None of these players is younger than 24, none is over 28, a perfect balance.

Blindingly obvious we are short of creativity & another finisher but something to build on.

Next bit is the hardest part though.

You’d be surprised, the train from Yate seems to have a lot on it - and it might be attractive for those in places like Winterbourne.

At the risk of sounding like NTTDS, I would have thought a train was a good option from Yate, far quicker than the bus.
