Congratulations to Taunton Town. Southern League Premier Champions and promoted to Tier Six for the first time in their history.

For those interested, I'm following Taunton's progress (only via Twitter) and they have just taken the lead. Hayes, their only rivals for promotion are currently 2-0 down. Looking good.

"Colemanballs" was of course a regular column in Private Eye which published commentator cockups. It was named after David Coleman for obvious reasons. Personally I thought he was pretty poor and never understood why he got so much air time and power. I realise other people admired him though.

Taunton only need a point now. Farnborough are out of it unless they beat Taunton 6-0, so we just have to avoid Hayes winning and Taunton losing.

Let's face it, hes more often the saviour than the culprit.

Glad somebody went - we’ve actually been discussing this league in the other thread “This town ain’t big enough for the both of us”. Taunton’s my local team though I can’t claim to be a supporter. Their recent run has been pretty phenomenal.

A good chance for Taunton now to reach Tier Six for the first time ever in their history.

And Truro have recently beaten Taunton!

I’ve never believed that stuff for a minute. I think he was just a man of extremes - very pleasant when things were going his way and explosively unpleasant when they weren’t. Personally I don’t like people who can’t control their unpleasant instincts.

But they are tonight’s opponents at Taunton - so that’s a tough one.

Treating this now as a thread on this league … I see that Yate have dropped to eighth, Weston remain in the play offs, but Taunton have continued their surge up the table. Tonight they play a game in hand, where a win would put them three points clear in first, with two games to go. The automatic promotion place still looks open to four teams though, ie Hayes, Taunton, Farnborough and Met Police.

The 8500at Wrexham certainly got their money's worth!

I imagine most players ignore the opposition crowd unless they’re provoked first. How do you know Austin hadn’t already had some provocation? Yes, he should probably ignore it, but some players are no better than some fans!

Nice to see Tammy has reached 20 goals for Roma and seems to have won over any doubters.
