Mentioned in the matchday thread this was being sung.

Anyone there confirm this? How long/loud was it sung?

Good to hear fans voicing their feelings, especially in the week season ticket prices were announced. SL, JL, BT and LM have been given far too easy a ride for me liking.

I was there, this is correct!

Dave - you just made my evening, thank you.

Two simple (not in a bad way) but brilliant posts. Ledge!

Surely in the past every club were playing 4-4-2 with one big and one little striker, they didn’t negate each other.

The main difference with modern football is every opponent is analysed in minute detail.  Everybody knows your strengths, weaknesses in great detail.  What every single players strengths, weaknesses are, where teams pass too, where players pass too etc.  That’s what has made the game boring rather than formations imo.

Pretty much said if we sign another striker he won't play WITH Conway but as an alternative. Won't be seeing two up front under Manning then.

How many sides in the prem, champ play with two strikers from the off currently?  Can’t be many if any?  Even league one and two days of sides playing with two strikers are diminishing.

Not really. The club were still getting Pearson to adhere to the club’s philosophy.  Pearson didn’t have free rein. Name 1 thing or indeed 1 person that changed in the recruitment area during Nigel’s 2.5 years.
None. We were still committed to doing the same things. Nige brought his own experience and respect to the playing staff that were presented to him, but the model above him was still majorly flawed.

Agree with the vast majority of what you’re saying but Danny Simpson, Andy king and James wouldn’t have been targeted but for Pearson, so not strictly true.

I don't know if you are correct here, but if you are, other clubs get away with breaking that rule.

It is a small advantage that a team of ball boys/girls can either retrieve the ball quicker or slower depending on score, or save the energy of a knackered player retrieving a ball late in the game.

That small advantage becomes exponential over a whole game or a whole season.

I am all for fitting an electric shock system to the chairs of our motionless ball people. Get off your arses people!!

My son is often ball boy for another football league side.  I thought the same,  said why arnt you giving the ball back to the players and just sat there.  😂

They all get a ball on a cone in front of them,  if player comes and takes ball from cone they get the ball that went out of play and replace it.  They are told not to give the ball to the players.

The ball persons really make little effort retrieving the ball or passing the ball to the thrower.

Maybe it’s just ours who are really bad but until they can achieve their primary role I wouldn’t be handing out responsibility for enforcing the laws of the game to them

They’ve changed the rules this season,  players have to get the balls off of the cone in front of ball boys themselves.  Then the ball boy just replaces the ball on the cone.  Same at all clubs.

  7. Sort of thing if rovers were doing it we would take the piss.   Watford beat them at anfield a couple of seasons ago in the prem!!

great result at the time but to hold a 30 year anniversary on the pitch sums up why we’ve never got to the prem.  Happy to accept stuff like that as success.

Anyway I look forward to the West Ham celebrations in 10 years

I can only really think of Tony Dinning and Lee Tomlin as bad loan-into-permanent deals - are there more?

That said, can anyone think of any successful loan-into-permanent deals we’ve had?! There’s probably some obvious ones…

    Palmer? Does Dasilva count!

Manning has been winning me round in recent weeks, which is natural given the results. Still find the football a bit boring, but everyone will have their own opinion.

So this isn’t a dig at him, but can you name a worse city game than what we witnessed today? Everything from performance to atmosphere and even the weather was just completely not there today. It has to be the one of, if it the worse, days at football for a long long time.

    Bristol city 0 Cardiff 6

Today was poor but worse ever, come on…

I felt like he ran and “pressed” without ever looking like he put any pressure on the Boro back line. Or got close to them. They just passed it round him and went forward again.

With the ball going forward, did well. Should’ve put Mehmeti in on the left when he broke down the middle and did well down the line in front of Lansdown but when holding a lead, I’d want us to defend from the front better.

This.  His pressing his terrible,  just runs around for sake of running. Puts zero pressure on the ball, arrives at the player after they’ve already passed it.   Like a dog chasing after a stick!

Where he ran himself out of position randomly running knight had to go and press the furthest player but cornick didn’t think to cover knight, allowed them to play through us so easily.

when he actually gets the ball he ain’t to bad out of possession an absolute headless chicken

Think I've got it down to two. Maybe three.

After I called Hughton last time tho, and got it wrong, cus it was his agent playing the game - I'm not gonna put my testicles on the chopping board this time.

Evatt and Liam manning I reckon are in the running.

  12. I reckon we sign two midfielders to replace Scott.  A number 8 and a number 10.  Pearson has said he is keen to add goals from midfield.  Scott is so too we are going to be hard pushed to replace him like for like with one player, impossible.  Be a good opportunity to get more legs and goals in the side from midfield.

Goalkeeper is another, interesting if we go and try and get someone better than max or we bring in someone to compete with him.  Interesting one there.

Cb- depends on Naismith really.  If he’s going to play left cb. We prob don’t need one.  The links to Wrexham were random but wouldn’t surprise me if he did move on someone.  Signed to play sweeper in a back 3, looks too error prone and not a good enough defender to play in a two imo.  Looked decent in his cameo roles in midfield last season but a position he’s never really played before.  If you go on Pearson and tinnions view that we want our teams to run all over other teams, it’s going to be hard to get him in the starting line up. James is a shoe in, with James and Naismith in there not the quickest.

I actually think we looked a much better side with Naismith in it last season, but the way the team has evolved and the way it seems Pearson and Tinnion want the team to evolve wouldn’t suprise me if he did end up moving on too.

All the reports point to agreeing a fee being the issue.

This is just my guess of the situation.  Clubs initially agree fee, goes up does the medical which shows up something.  Would imagine the injury Pearson was talking about.  Bolton come back to city and say we will still take him but try to lower the fee or the fee is all made up of appearance based payments.  City weren’t having it.

Due to the initial reporting that fee agreed and he was up there for a medical suggests it’s something to do with the medical.  I’m pretty sure clubs can’t say he failed a medical either due to medical confidentiality.

Surprised to see Naismith out of so many suggested XIs. Has the best passing range in the squad by far, we looked a much better more fluid side with him in it last season

Also if we're playing the shape @Davefevssuggests I'd love to see Kane Wilson come good. As solid as Tanner's been, if we were playing that system long term we'd want a FB who offers more going forward imo, like Pring does on the left

Our results and performances with and without Naismith are like chalk and cheese.  Would imagine he will be one of first names on the teamsheet
