    Being taken over again apparently

    Hmmm.

So Wael has taken the £11m Memorial Stadium and pissed away £8.7m of that on failed projects and chasing "the dream" of promotions.

They now have sweet f a of net assets, he has spent none of his own money, and is bailing to try to make some idiot pay something over £2m for assets worth less than £2m.

He has done this to them and still half of them think he's "a great bloke".  Halfwits.

Is there evidence for that? If so very interesting. Instead if 1885 on their badge should it be 1945?

    Bristol Rovers FC 1885 1945 2015

There won't be room to get it all on the badge if they keep going bust and dropping out of the league!

They finished bottom of Div 3 south in the season 38/39, but were reelected during that summer.  The entire season 39/40 was abandoned after a few games when war broke out.

There are those who still hold that Hitler only invaded Poland to stop the gas going bust.

I was promised a share in the greyhound racing if I kicked it all off.  I never received it.

Yeah - He compared the space they have to use as the same as Everton

The area available for development and expansion around The Memorial Ground is certainly comparable to that around Goodison Park, as in:

The area available for development and expansion around The Memorial Ground is about a tenth of that around Goodison Park.

(second image dragged out so the ground is roughly the same size)

Something i've noticed since working in offices the last 3 years.

There's always someone that has told me they support both Bristol teams (I've worked for 2 companies and it's occurred in both) ..... Does anyone else find this weird? I obviously understand fair weathered fans but can't get my head around saying you support both city and rovers...

I have an uncle and a family friend like this, they don't go to games any more but put Bristol in general above a subdivision of it.

This is why I don't have the vitriol that others have for the gas, though I did have a little chuckle when they went non-league after all the "we're coming to get you" rhetoric.

I am struggling to understand their forum

they lose  thousands each week and are 10 million in debt

they need a new ground or a revamped mem Which will cost anywhere from 4-45 million

both of these after the uwe collapse are 3-4 years away minimum and that's ignoring the massive battle they would face against local residents.

thats another 3-6 million debt while they rebuild with money they don't have, whilst being financially propped up by a foreign bank.

i can't actually see any other outcome that a sale of the mem followed by liquidation and yet on ass chat there's a wally fan club and people sticking Jordanian flags as their user photo

    It's utterly farcical

Look mate, if you were as thick as two short planks like wot they is you'd be doing exactly the same

Don't forget he had some new turf laid.

Is that the long way of saying they are in the caca?

    Um, possibly

I think they'll be put up for sale some time this season. If results go their way it will be late in the season; if not then in the next few months so the incoming buyer is paying at the level for a L1 team rather than a L2 one.

So will Rovers be sued by UWE?

Can't see why they would do so, it's not like the Sainsbury deal where there was a contract in place; albeit with clauses that Higgs didn't understand.

The UWE deal was pulled before heads of terms were agreed so the contract won't have been drawn up yet.

What should be more concerning is the financial position of the gas.

The Memorial Stadium is valued at £11m and a charge of £10m has been placed against this creating a line of credit.

The costs of the UWE stadium project and a £1.5m annual operating loss meant that by 30 June 2016 £7.2m of this credit had been drawn and spent.

So now that would be £8.7m meaning that the remaining line of credit is £1.3m; being insufficient to cover the operating loss for the current season.

So they need more money. Third party companies, even Higgs' Wonga loanees, require security.  Now this could be achieved by giving them a charge upon The Stadium but it would have to rank above the existing charge; meaning that a chunk of that £10m would become unsecured and effectively lost to the owner.

I will rely upon gasheads' opinion that Wael is a good sort so he's unlikely to liquidate them but the impression also being given is that there is no more money to come and, unlike Steve Lansdown, he doesn't have the money to give up that debt.

So this is looking very like the gas will be out of money by the end of the season so will be going up for sale with any new owner having to take on a debt of £10m secured against the ground.

The gas may have checked out of the Conference but they can never leave.

Right let me think. I'm jealous of Bristol rovers because of. Nope nothing sorry. Anyone else want to try

They um, oh - wait a minute it's ah, no, it's gone.

Ah, got it - they played in Bath for a bit and there is a decent view from Twerton.

Yes, that's it, they had a really nice view for several years.  I am jealous of that.

I can't read it either. It just seems to be a collection of morons - the other sag forum seemed to inherit the more eloquent posters.

Gas Guzzler? I think they must have some sort of entrance test as it's a cut above the collection of semi-literate outbursts that is Gas Chat.

New coming to Bristol University. Choose red over blue as have a house share in Bedminster. Looking forward to derby games next season. In Holland PSV vs. Breda is best game of season - good for city.

And in case this is a genuine post, welcome to Bristol and to the decent club.

Derby games next season will be a scant consolation for getting relegated though!

    Speak for youself.

What is embarrassing is seeing so called City supporters chucking in the towel and turning on the manager and players.

Each to their own I suppose.

People, or rather the ones posting on this forum, aren't "turning" on the players.

Possibly correct - but no doubt the reason that they dislike us is because we a much more successful than most of those tin pot clubs - yourselves included.

I do wonder if you would really expect someone you were talking to about local football to actually say they preferred City to Rovers as it would be clear to them they were talking to a Rover fan !

    Clearly as you mention #gaslogic

And anybody that's neutral tends to prefer the smaller club:

    Stoke or Port Vale

    Notts Forest or Notts County

    Chelsea or Brentford

    et cetera

True, but there is a small chance we will be playing you in the Championship next year.

It all hinges on the new stadium. If it fails we might do a Yeovil. If it happens, who knows?

    Bristol Derby, City victory.

Sounds great, it's been far too long.
