Brighton in the Cardiff Play Off final.

They we’re more interested in their ground issues than the play-off final…and we still managed to **** it up.

    Shocking.

Yep, was living near York and drove down. Got caught by a speed camera in the same place, coming down and going home. 6 points on my licence and a bloody awful game in between!!

Any football fan who celebrates (or even doesn’t care about) other fans going through something that Swindon fans are going through is pretty pathetic in my eyes. Wouldn’t want any club to go bankrupt

Totally agree, and we should know better after what nearly happened in 82 ?

Not that I would ever go to a zoo but this is yet another thing that is great for the people of South Glos, South Wales but unfortunately not South Bristol, this Mayor should remember that the voters in South Bristol have stuck with Labour forever and a day even during the dark days of Thatcherism when it was the only non-London English constituency South of Birmingham

But it's not a Council decision, it's the Zoo's decision!! One I welcome if it will safeguard the future of the zoo, and provide the animals with much more space than they have in Clifton.

I lived in an estate built in the 70s at the bottom of Courtney road. People moved there from all over, so no allegiance to one team. Lots of houses went up in the 80s/90s in Warmley and Longwell Green where once again, people from all over moved there. The main Rovers areas were the older estates (New Cheltenham/Banjo). It's pretty slim pickings for them outside of that and getting worse. Their future support looks dire.

No I grew up in New Cheltenham, along with my mates and we were all City. Flower Pot Inn was half and half, Rovers in the bar, City in the Lounge!!

  5. Thanks for your support

I've downloaded the couch to 5K app as a start (although can usually run a couple of miles ok), but need to enter a 10 k or something in the spring as a target.

Basically I just need to get my shoes on and run ?

    Just returning to this thread!

My 2019 ambition was to do 50km/month. It started with a 2km run around Greville Smyth Park with my son having not run for a good few months. Once I got back into the routine (and barring a pesky knee problem in late May/early June) I easily exceeded the target. The year ended too with a run with him around Greville Smyth again - a nice way to bookend it.

    Best month - 140km

Longest distance - 21.1km (half marathon distance) in 02:05:12

    New 10km PB @ Bristol 10km Race in May - 00:51:52

Best location - Troulos Bay to Koukanaries and back (Skiathos, Greece)

Total number of runs - 149 (mainly outdoors, but probably about 10/15 in the gym when knee injury or horrific weather dictated)

App used - Endomondo (free version)

    Overall distance ran - 1,021km

Great feeling to have done what I set out to do over the course of a year as since starting running 5yrs ago that's the first time I have stuck with it for an entire 12-month. Usually it's "train for 10k and have a break. . . " Gave myself a day off yesterday but back out today later on.

Also great to see new & returning runners on what is a great thread!

    Thanks and good work!!

I will try and use this as my motivation, as I really need to get running again. I ran a lot during my 20's and then played football in my 30's. Raised a family in my 40's but now need to start again. I trained for a marathon in 2012 but got injured just beforehand, which really set me back and I've done very little since. At 54, I need to do this for both peace of mind and health. I'll let you know how it goes!!

Today, I found an old Evening Post dating from Monday 14 November 1983. I’m attaching the match reports on the Bristol Rovers v Burnley match, which was played at Eastville. Observe the attendance and the comments of the “Fan of the Week”; note how, even back then, they were being awarded dubious penalties. Read also the report about the abuse meted out to the Burnley manager, John Bond.

Nothing much has changed in almost 36 years - apart from the emergence of the Gap. Back then, they were in Division Three, finishing 5th that season; we were in Division Four and were eventually promoted in 4th place.

I think that I only kept the paper because  my mates and I drove up to Darlington to watch our 1-0 win.32CEA28F-D49B-4025-B889-0735A15AF824.thumb.jpeg.f5605641262ca5af8f506cbca5d797f3.jpeg18293F91-E68F-4765-BFA2-07E3A3365B42.thumb.jpeg.6efaa70f64939585213a33380564993a.jpeg

I was there and Walshy had a hell of a game, but it was a cracking goal form John Kerr (RIP) and a deserved winner. Lovely little town Darlington, and great swapping ends at halftime to stand behind the goal.

It's bullshit like that that makes Rovers the only club that I hope goes bust one day.  I'd have sympathy for the fans of any other club, but the 15ers absolutely revel in the misfortune of a club that went bankrupt.  They'll get no sympathy from me if they ever vanish.

The sooner this happens...... the better!!!

To be fair BBS3, he'e performed pretty damn well to get them to where they are IMHO and clearly wants out of that cesspit. Yes, he's having a damn good moan at the mo but they've sold anyone remotely half decent and given him a shite budget to replace them.

essentially, they're screwed regardless. Shame eh! ;)

Agree and said it before, he's trying to get the push..... but they just can't afford to sack him ?

I think December 10th 1983 helped Bristol City immensely....we’d gone through the hell of 1982 - we had a mix and match side which included a Bristol University student....it was a very uncertain time....then the FA Cup second round draw gave us an away tie at Eastville against a Rovers team that was lording it above us in the divisions....and we beat them 1-2 that day ....with the student mis-hitting the winner to send us into absolute delirium on the away terrace...Terry Cooper was at the helm and he even came on and played that day...but that day was a serious springboard, we believed totally in our club again, we’d just gubbed the gas in their own backyard and we loved it! We were on the way back after the 1982 stuff...so I think that derby in the 1980s really helped us, because we got promoted at the end of that season....and we haven’t looked back since...

The only time I've cried at a football match...… tears of joy!!

Clarke’s after match interviews are getting more embarrassing

    yeh, no, listen

kept on stating that he’d take the responsibility and blame because it’s “my team” then proceeds to slag them all off because they couldn’t string two passes together and having a total lack of leaders & leadership, the guy is deluded and losing the plot

I think he is really trying everything he can to get the sack, but they just can't afford to do that ?

Just caught the rovers chairman saying that their academy players have to buy their own kits etc, and if they can't afford them they'll need to find the support from elsewhere. Did I hear right??

I caught that as well, even GT was dumbstruck.

    The gift keeps on giving!!
