  1. From what little I have seen, he is faster than Bell but maybe not quite as fast as Ivan. Very quick though. I hope that I am not doing him a disservice.
  2. I, for one ,was entertained. The record will show that we scored all the goals and they scored none. On to the next triumph!
  3. Bak looks promising and Nelson super quick!
  4. Brian was a great player for us and has proved to be a great recruiter and developer of young players. It made perfect sense to promote him because there must be succession in the club and those under him can benefit from his great experience. The analysts who come up with potential names for recruits for the first team squad can also benefit from his experience and judgement. I very much doubt if it was Brian who was responsible for us losing Nige and his team. Some of the comments on here are maybe a trifle unfair. I would wager a few bob on the culprits being JL and the bean counter, who may have come up with a great wheeze to sack expensive staff and to replace them with cheaper options. Never mind the quality, just feel the reduction in width!
  5. A highly skilled player let down by lack of pace.
  6. The vital spark in most organisation comes from "big characters". We had this in NP and CF - but now we seem totally bland and I worry that there is not enough character in the leadership and staff to fix what they have broken. City is a huge part of life for most of us and we need to see the vital spark. A lacklustre chairman, a bean counter and a dull manage who appears to lack confidence is not what we need right now. How I miss Nige and Curtis.

    ENJOYMENT

Every style of play has a place but to play without much ambition in the second half was unforgivable. the time wasted passing along the back line, partly due to the lack of movement from our players further up the pitch, was just awful. With the clock ticking down we must surely expect our team to throw the kitchen sink at a poor and teetering opposition team. I was very disappointed and surprised to see that LM was not fuming at his players. Maybe they are carrying out his instructions to the letter. If so, may the Lord of Hosts be with us. We will need him.
  8. Ayman strikes me as an intelligent and highly motivated chap. Maybe it would be sensible if the club helped him to study for coaching badges whilst he is laid up. Although very young, it would add depth to his understanding of the game if he eventually returns to action and it would be insurance for him if his career was curtailed in any way. I really hope that he recovers well because he would be a great addition to the matchday squad.
  9. We never properly replaced the late, great Buster Footman.
  10. More than 50 years ago Gary Sprake decked Chris Garland as we lost 0-2 to Leeds. IIRC we went on a special train and were escorted by police to the ground. I thought we played quite well.
  11. I expect that Harry and Italian Dave were there!
  12. A great match - victory snatched from the jaws of defeat! Priceless.
  13. IIRC Lee Tomlin started there. Or maybe my senile memory has failed me. I think the boot company sponsor was Dr Martens.
  14. Also Rushden and Diamonds - sponsored by a boot company with an owl on each corner IIRC - whatever happened to them?
  15. I believe it was a pre-season friendly. I guess 25 to 30 years ago.
  16. In the 80ish mark for me plus a few more if you count the replacement stadiums e.g. Man City. Soton, Colchester, Derby etc etc. Heybridge Swifts and Kettering with City was one of many non league grounds, and because my son supported Barnet and I had to take him to all sorts of odd grounds over the years. The pies at Sheffield United stick in the memory although we were relegated!
  17. Like a slim version of me in my youth.
  18. In his post match interview he spent most of the time looking down and not looking at the interviewer. To my mind that looks a bit "shifty". Maybe he is just not very confident - not ideal for someone in his position. Early days and he will have to spend the next two weeks of the international break without his international players - hard to coach his new ideas when so many senior players are absent. This may be a long, hard winter.
  19. AD was a superb young manager at the start of his career. Nigel has already been round the block several times. AD had just been appointed when I started watching City and will always be very highly rated in my biased eyes. Nigel was just what we needed at the time and I believe he would have taken us further, but that is the past and LM is the future. Let's hope for all our sakes that he has a brilliant City career.
  20. OK - if they are not up to the job......sack them!
