  1. Safe journey to all the Gas Heads travelling to Liverpool this weekend
  2. What a thoroughly enjoyable evening Ground half empty Top scorer absent Lose to lowly Exeter Perfectly good goal disallowed Stand blows away in wind
  3. Cup win for me too. Then use the money to 'buy' promotion, entering europe on the crest of the wave, then the Champions League, before a pop at the league title. If Manning doesn't achieve this in 3 years, he's out and we get Nige back.
  4. Indeed, our coach was very spacious on the way back to the Black Horse, as many of our number decided to spend the evening in Aldershot
  5. Bullies, one said. Remember a trip there in 1983, proper rumble at the back of the stand at half time, resulting in a foray onto pitch for me. Fortunately, I could run faster than 6 others, who became a tasty snack for the police dogs they let loose!
  6. “Final tickets on sale”, bu99er me they haven’t got past the third round yet!
  7. We should do the same if we get the Gas in the cup. We could add pillars to the Atyeo, obstruct views and sell tickets for an imaginary row! That’ll make ‘em feel right at home!
  8. Heard its "No Girls Allowed", featuring Joey Barton
  9. …but Major did feel the need to bang on about family values, whilst banging on Edwina!
  10. Full version, Blair supported someone else’s idea, as it would help facilitate reconciliation of a very troubled area. Sam Hammam was franchising the club (not Blair) and, to be fair, Belfast would have been a better option than Milton Keynes!
  11. They do indeed. Those wanting the Lansdowns out should be careful what they wish for. We could end up in worse hands, seriously worse hands!
  12. They were wide open against Leicester - piled forward in numbers and looked dangerous. But were very susceptible to a quick break. I expect more of the same, an open game with goals. Hopefully, the majority of them will be ours!
  13. Still think Mehmeti is perfect for this tune… When I find myself in times of trouble, Anis Mehmeti scores for me Running down the left wing, for City And in my hour of darkness he’s standing right in front of me Running down the left wing, for City Mehmeti, Mehmeti, Mehmeti, Mehmeti Scoring goals for City, Mehmeti
  14. Don’t need a word, he’s probably right. NP had ruffled feathers here (and thank god he did), eventually making his stay untenable. What’s not questionable is that he left both positions in markedly better states than he found them, creating organised, functioning foundations on which to build. So, LM has inherited an unusual situation. Typically, a new manager enters a position where a team is losing and low in confidence, or is doing exceptionally well (and the only way is down). He hasn’t inherited a blank canvas - a lot of the picture is in place and he needs to colour it in. JL should be able to help him with that.
  15. We’ll have to agree to disagree on that point.
  16. I too remain a big NP fan, but there is a but… NP created the foundation, putting into place multiple foundations BUT, was he the right person to take us forward? Possibly. However, the person I most respect in business told me he had a maximum 2 year shelf life. By that time he’d ruffled so many feathers, it’s time to move on. Time for a fresh face.
  17. Previous regime deserve credit, absolutely. But there’s a fresh feeling about the place, I like Manning’s positivity.
  18. Decent on what basis (serious question)? He did okay at Exeter, yes. But that was a 'cosy' appointment at a club he knew well and was already a (little) bit of a legend there. At Rotherham, he did well to keep them in division, granted. But only just and the start to this season (when his ways really kick in) was very poor. I'd say, at best, the jury is out on Matty Taylor (which probably swung it for him on this occasion)
  19. You sure that's illegal? Asking for a friend!
  20. My dad overcame that problem by buying me boots that were two sizes too big (11s, I was a 9). My feet stopped at 10, they never fitted properly, so I had to wear thick socks (nightmare when it came to spring). They were Golas, bought from G.B. Brittons, Kingswood and I bloody loved 'em
  21. I thought of Deep Heat, but forgot to write it down. Still makes my eyes water!
  22. It would be interesting(?) to track the smell of a football dressing room through the decades, for me it’s 1950s. Brylcream 1960s. Dubbin 1970s. Brut (Thanks Mr Keegan) 1980s. Insignia 1990s. ???? 2000s. ???? 2010s. ???? 2020s. A posh fragrance of some kind
  23. The distinctive smell of dubbin is synonymous with football back in the day. Boots were smothered in it, as well as the ball. And so was your forehead should you be made enough to head the ball at that time.
  24. Dubbin should not be confused with Dobbin the Donkey, which is obscene and illegal.
